Chapter 82 Summation

The next day, Li Jingshu got up early and had people tidy up the yard and rooms.

"Consort, you seem to be in a very good mood today."

Li Jingshu smiled:

"I am delighted that distinguished guests will be visiting today."

After everything was tidied up, she asked the nanny to brew a pot of the finest tea and sent someone to invite Geng Youran.

Geng Youran had actually learned about Li Jingshu's release from confinement the day before, and Hongshi had come to see her after returning from Li Jingshu's place.

"Your Majesty, Consort Li sent someone to invite you so early, there shouldn't be anything wrong, right?"

As Geng Youran put on her earrings, she responded to Qianxue's concerns:

"Didn't Hongshi say yesterday that Consort Li invited me over today just to have tea and catch up, and that there was no other intention?"

Qianxue was still a little uneasy. This Consort Li had done so many bad things, and now she was being released so easily. Who knew if she was just pretending to be weak to deceive others?

"Alright, I'm not worried, so what are you afraid of? Go, pack up the snacks I made this morning, let's go now."

On the afternoon of the first day, the steward of the Prince's Mansion delivered ingredients to Geng Youran as usual.

Now that it's September, the manager specially sent some fresh flowers and fruits such as pears and cherries.

Using these ingredients, Geng Youran specially made some fresh pastries.

"Princess, these flowers look so beautiful on, let's not pick them."

"Every flower eventually fades, so why not make it delicious while it's at its best?"

The steward sent fresh flowers to Geng Youran not so that she could keep them for herself to admire.

It's not that Geng Youran dislikes flowers; she just finds looking at them too melancholic.

Flowers bloom and fade in the blink of an eye.

The first step is to make rose pear jelly.

First, remove the stems from the roses and then use the petals to make flower tea.

Then peel and dice the pears and set aside.

Then add an appropriate amount of agar to the rose tea, stirring constantly while simmering until the agar is completely dissolved. (Agar did exist in ancient times. Agar, also known as agar gelatin, is a plant-based gelatin, usually made from seafood such as seaweed, agar, and gecko.)

Add rock sugar and goji berries (if using), and continue stirring until the rock sugar is completely dissolved and the liquid thickens. The frozen jelly mixture is now ready.

Finally, pour the cooked frozen dessert mixture into a container.

"Little Anzi!"

Xiao Anzi is taking care of the flowers outside the door right now.

"master!"

"Go and ask the manager for some ice."

"Yes, sir."

The 'Rose Pear Jelly' needed to be set with ice, so Geng Youran then made the 'Cherry Biscuit'.

She used to make this dessert often when she was in the Hall of Mental Cultivation. Later, after she entered the Prince's Mansion, the supply of ingredients was insufficient, so she made it less often.

First, remove the pits from the cherries, then put the cherry flesh into a pot and add an appropriate amount of rock sugar or white sugar.

Simmer over low heat, stirring constantly, until the cherries soften and the sauce thickens to form cherry jam.

After the cherry jam is cooked, put it into a bowl of well water to cool it down before use.

Mix flour and water to form a dough, let it rest for a while, and then roll it out into a thin sheet. Brush each sheet with olive oil or other cooking oil, and then stack them one on top of the other to prevent them from sticking together.

Place the stacked dough sheets into a steamer and steam until cooked.

After the steamed dough has cooled, peel it off layer by layer.

Place a large spoonful of cherry sauce and four fresh cherries on each pasta sheet.

Fold the dough over to wrap the filling, then roll it up into a small spring roll shape. Make sure to wrap it tightly to prevent the filling from leaking out.

Place the wrapped cherry pies in a pancake maker or frying pan and cook over low heat until both sides are lightly golden brown.

"Princess, if you ask me, it's already a great favor that you're even going. Why bother getting up so early to make all this food?"

Geng Youran glared at Qianxue, then said:

"Granny, you're coming with me today. Qianxue, you stay here and reflect on your actions!"

The old woman took the packed food box and followed behind Geng Youran, also glaring at Qianxue.

Only Xiao Anzi sneaked over after the two left.

"Qianxue, did you take the wrong medicine today or are you really brainless? You've been following our master for so long, how come you're still so outspoken?"

Qianxue didn't understand what Xiao Anzi meant, and she felt quite wronged:

“I think I’m right. Consort Li has approached our princess several times before. Who knows if she will try to deceive her again this time? I’m doing this for the princess’s own good.”

Xiao Anzi could only sigh that there is no such thing as the dumbest in the world, only dumber.

"You don't even consider who Consort Li was imprisoned and who was released because of. Wasn't it all because of our master? If she were to harm our master again, do you think the Prince would have let her off?"

"...That's true."

Xiao Anzi sighed:

"You should be glad that our princess has a good temper and is only asking you to reflect on your actions. Otherwise, just for your loose tongue just now, she would have kicked you out of the manor."

Qianxue finally realized where she had gone wrong.

But since Gege isn't here, she can only help Xiao Anzi with some chores and apologize to Geng Youran when she returns.

Meanwhile, Geng Youran took some snacks to Li Jingshu's courtyard.

As soon as Geng Youran stepped into the courtyard, she felt that this courtyard was somewhat different.

The yard has been filled with green plants, including potted lotus flowers, and there are also a few goldfish in the pots.

Li Jingshu stood at the doorway, her hair styled in a simple bun, adorned with only a few simple hairpins, a unique jade pendant around her neck, and a plain jade bracelet on her wrist.
