Chapter 29 The Trouble Caused by Being Covered in Pig's Blood
The young man felt a sense of relief when he saw that Lin Luoxi finally believed him.
Upon hearing Lin Luoxi's words, he quickly waved his hand, indicating that it was not necessary.
"If you don't take it, I really won't trust you to do things for me." Lin Luoxi squinted at the person in front of her.
"Fine, 91 it is then." Xie Hanchuan was both amused and exasperated by Lin Luoxi's insistence.
“Okay, it’s a pleasure to cooperate.” Lin Luoxi walked up to Xie Hanchuan readily and extended her right hand.
"What!" Xie Hanchuan looked at the outstretched hand and looked up at Lin Luoxi in confusion.
Seeing Xie Hanchuan's puzzled expression, Lin Luoxi realized that they were in ancient times. She awkwardly withdrew her hand and pretended to scratch the back of her head.
"It's getting late, you should go down the mountain."
"The smell of blood here is too strong; I'm afraid wild animals might come along later."
“It’s dangerous for a young woman like you to walk alone in the mountains after dark.”
Looking at the sunset and evening glow blocked by the mountains, Xie Hanchuan kindly offered a reminder.
"Well, do you want me to help carry it down to the foot of the mountain?" Lin Luoxi suggested, looking rather embarrassed, as she looked at the wild boar with its head split open.
"No need, I plan to start from the side path, it's faster." Xie Hanchuan knew the villagers' ways; whenever they caught prey, they would head straight for the side path.
"Do you want me to come with you?" Lin Luoxi felt even more embarrassed after hearing this.
"Hehe, you'd better hurry back, or your older brother will get worried." Xie Hanchuan couldn't help but laugh as he looked at Lin Luoxi, who had suddenly become embarrassed.
"Alright, thank you, sir. I look forward to our next collaboration." Lin Luoxi looked at the young man in front of her, a perfect plan forming in her mind.
Since they said they didn't need her help anymore, she could leave the mountain with a clear conscience.
After saying goodbye to Xie Hanchuan, Lin Luoxi rushed home before sunset.
After running down the mountain and no longer noticing Xie Hanchuan's gaze, Lin Luoxi quickly went into her spatial dimension to retrieve her bag and basket.
Carrying a basket on her back, Lin Luoxi had just left the forest when a gust of wind blew by, and she shivered instantly.
It turned out that he was terrified while fighting the wild boar and broke out in a cold sweat. The evening breeze made him feel chilly all over.
"Hey, Luo Xi, where have you been? Why are you covered in blood?" The villager who asked the question looked into Lin Luo Xi's basket as he saw that she was covered in blood.
When he saw that Lin Luoxi's basket was full of unwanted weeds, he curled his lip.
"Auntie, I... I encountered a wild boar while digging for wild vegetables on the mountain. I... I almost didn't make it back alive. If it weren't for... if it weren't for Xie's son, I might..."
Lin Luoxi noticed the villager's gaze and, seeing the greed in his eyes, immediately pretended to be terrified and started to whine.
Then, he shook the basket so they could see what was inside.
"What? A wild boar? You're really lucky, girl. You know, we adults would stay far away from wild boars..." The commotion Lin Luoxi made attracted a lot of villagers to watch.
Seeing Lin Luoxi covered in blood, and hearing that she had almost been killed by a wild boar, everyone felt sympathy and concern.
Some even linked the fact that Lin Luoxi's family was forced to dig for wild vegetables in the mountains because of the Lin family, and they cursed the Lin family for being inhuman and that they deserved to have their home raided.
Thus, the villagers who initially thought Lin Luoxi had hunted wild game after seeing her covered in blood all abandoned their greed and became sympathetic upon learning of her experience.
Amidst the sympathetic gazes of many villagers, Lin Luoxi returned home.
"Second sister, you, you're injured?" Lin Wenqian, who had been standing at the door, saw Lin Luoxi walking towards him covered in blood, and he almost couldn't stand up.
Seeing that Lin Wenqian looked like he was about to fall, Lin Luoxi quickly ran over and helped him up.
"Brother, the blood on my body isn't mine, it's..." He whispered in Lin Wenqian's ear as he helped him into the house.
"Da Ya, what happened to you?" Lin Dayou, who was helping to dry the medicinal herbs in the yard, also saw Lin Luoxi's miserable state and was so shocked that he dropped the herbs in his hands without even realizing it.
He staggered toward Lin Luoxi, reaching out his trembling hand to touch her, yet afraid of touching her wounds.
"Da Ya!" A trembling voice came from the direction of the kitchen. Lin Wangshi was busy in the kitchen when she heard Lin Dayou's strange voice and immediately came out to check.
Upon seeing the blood on Lin Luoxi's body, she trembled with fear, breathing desperately to keep herself from fainting.
"Father, Mother, I'm fine. The blood on my body isn't mine..." Lin Luoxi repeated what she had said to Lin Wenqian after seeing that Lin Dayou and Lin Wangshi were frightened by her.
"What? You're saying this blood isn't yours??" This time, it was Lin Luoning's turn to speak. She walked over and looked Lin Luoxi up and down.
Seeing that Lin Luoxi's complexion was relatively normal and there was something in her eyes, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Da Ya, don't hide it from your mother. If you're not injured, where did all this blood come from?" It couldn't have come from wild animals in the mountains!
"Father, Mother, Elder Brother, Sister, let's go inside and talk." Lin Luoxi mysteriously pulled her family members into the main room.
She had just sensed someone following her back, probably trying to get some information from her, or perhaps thinking she had hunted prey and was hiding somewhere…
"Father, Mother, when I separated from my eldest brother and went into the deep mountains, I found that there were many medicinal herbs that my third brother needed. I dug as hard as I could, and after I had dug enough, I was just about to get up..." Lin Luoxi told her family everything without hiding anything.
She also recounted everything, including meeting Xie Hanchuan in the mountains and how he helped her sell wild boars.
"Are you saying Xie Hanchuan will send money over tomorrow morning?" Lin Dayou felt like he was listening to a story, and it didn't seem real at all.
"Yes, Father and Mother, if you don't believe me, you'll find out tomorrow morning." Covered in the stench of blood, Lin Luoxi had endured it all this time and couldn't wait to take a bath.
"Second sister, I've already boiled the water. Go wash up first." Lin Wenqian had been paying attention to Lin Luoxi's expression. Seeing that Lin Luoxi would sniff her clothes from time to time, he knew what she wanted to do.
"Okay, thank you, big brother. I knew you were the best." Lin Luoxi didn't care what Lin Dayou wanted to ask and quickly ran out to get hot water for a bath.
The family was so poor that they only had one wooden tub for bathing.
Luckily, there was a well at home; otherwise, with just a wooden bucket, we don't know how long we would have had to jump into the water.
"Father, please don't ask. Although Second Sister wasn't injured, I think she must have been frightened. What we need to do is take good care of her..."
