Chapter 7: Became a Living Dead

Chapter 7: Became a Living Dead

"It's nothing serious, just a sudden surge of anger that caused him to faint." After taking their pulses, Doctor Yang took out his silver needles again and inserted them into the acupoints on Lin Dayou and Lin Wangshi's bodies.

After the needle was inserted, Lin Dayou slowly opened his eyes and first looked around.

Upon seeing that Dr. Yang was still there, a nightmarish reality washed over him, causing the farmer to burst into tears once again.

"Dr. Yang, your medical skills are amazing, could you, could you..." Knowing that she was asking a difficult question, she didn't know what to say.

After all, Lin Dayou had never heard of any doctor successfully performing brain surgery, unless a miracle worker was alive…

"Oh, my dear nephew Dayou, you should focus on getting better first. Your family needs you as their pillar of support." Doctor Yang felt a pang of pity as he looked at the family (except for Lin Wenqian and Lin Luoning) lying neatly in bed.

"There are no outsiders here now, so I can tell you about your second son's condition. I can come over every day to provide free medical consultations." This means it's free.

As a doctor, this was the first time he had encountered such a seriously ill patient. He used all the medical knowledge he had learned to see if he could cure the youngest son of the Lin family.

"Thank you, Dr. Yang, thank you, Dr. Yang..." Lin Dayou was so grateful that he wanted to get out of bed and kneel down to thank Dr. Yang for his kindness, but Dr. Yang stopped him.

"Why are you so dishonest? Didn't I tell you to rest in bed? Why are you so agitated? Besides, just because I said I could come for free clinics every day doesn't mean I can cure your son. Isn't that putting me in a difficult position?"

Although the words were harsh, they were true, leaving Lin Dayou with no room for rebuttal.

Lin Dayou was struck by Dr. Yang's words, and his whole body slumped down. He felt extremely heartbroken and lost. If even Dr. Yang couldn't save his son, then who in the world could?

The village chief was still in the room. Hearing what Dr. Yang said, he greatly admired Dr. Yang.

Seeing Lin Dayou's appearance, everyone tacitly retreated outside.

"Brother Zhou, don't go yet." Lin Dayou seemed to have thought of something, looked up, and hurriedly called out to the village chief who was about to leave.

"Dayou, is there anything else?" Lin Zhousheng felt a little embarrassed when he heard Lin Dayou calling him. He couldn't think of anything else Lin Dayou wanted him to stay behind for besides borrowing money.

“Dayou, I…” The village chief hesitated for a moment before speaking first.

"Brother Zhou Sheng, I want to sever ties with the Lin family." Lin Dayou seemed to have made a decision, looking at Lin Zhousheng with a determined gaze.

"Confirmed?" Lin Zhousheng breathed a sigh of relief when he heard it wasn't about borrowing money, since his family wasn't well-off either. But when he heard Lin Dayou say he wanted to sever ties with his family, his brows furrowed again.

Not only was the village chief surprised, but everyone in the house also looked at Lin Dayou with surprise, wanting to know what Lin Dayou was thinking.

Lin Wangshi, who had just woken up, was shocked for a moment when she heard Lin Dayou's words. Tears began to fall down her face, and she cried out with heartache, "Master."

Upon hearing Lin Wangshi's voice, Lin Dayou tightly grasped her hand and choked out, "My dear wife, I'm so sorry for all the suffering you've endured. Because of me, the children have also suffered greatly."

The village chief, standing at the door of the room, understood everything upon hearing Lin Dayou's words; he guessed that the Lin family had disappointed Lin Dayou.

When Lin Wenqian heard his father's decision, a hint of smugness flashed in his eyes. As long as his father severed all ties with the Lin family, no one would care what he did in the future.

"Have you made up your mind?" Lin Zhousheng asked uncertainly, fearing that Lin Dayou was just acting on impulse.

“Brother Zhou Sheng, you’ve seen it yourself. I’ve been so filial to them, yet I’ve ended up like this. I really don’t want to have anything to do with them anymore.”

Lin Dayou first looked at his wife and children on the bed before looking at Lin Zhousheng with difficulty and speaking.

When he said this, he felt no emotion whatsoever; he was probably heartbroken to the point of despair.

Lying in bed, Lin Luoxi, who had woken up but hadn't opened her eyes, heard this sentence and her brows began to furrow.

What severing ties? She opened her eyes in confusion, only to be met with a scene that left her dumbfounded.

Good heavens, is this a house? It's drafty on all four sides, and the roof is thatched. This, this, only a primitive tribe would be this backward!

Looking around the room, it was incredibly poor. Apart from a wooden bed that could fit a few people, there was nothing there, not even a mosquito net. It didn't even qualify as a cowshed.

Lin Luoxi smelled a musty odor and looked at where she was lying. Good heavens, it was a straw mat, probably damp from a recent rain.

After surveying her surroundings, Lin Luoxi felt like she was being roasted with arsenic, and she even felt like dying.

The sound of Lin Luoxi waking up did not attract the attention of the people in the room, as everyone was preoccupied with the news of the severing of ties.

Hearing Lin Dayou's desperate tone, Lin Zhousheng stopped trying to reconcile them. If he were in that situation, regardless of whether the other person was a relative or not, he would be lucky not to kill them. It was not as simple as just severing ties with a family.

"Alright, since you've made your decision, I'll go and invite the elders over now." Lin Zhousheng didn't delay any longer and quickly walked outside.

Let's deal with Lin Dayou's matter first, before it's time for dinner.

The Lin family had caused quite a stir during the day, and the elders of the clan knew about Lin Dayou's plight and felt great sympathy for this young man.

However, since Lin Dayou hadn't been able to get them to handle the matter, it wasn't appropriate for them to interfere in other people's family affairs.

Therefore, when Lin Zhousheng, the village chief, went to ask people to help Lin Dayou sever ties with the Lin family, they were all very willing to come and help Lin Dayou resolve the issue.

Knowing that Lin Dayou is still unable to get out of bed, the elders of the clan, who care about their younger generation, all spontaneously went to Lin Dayou's home.

"That damned beast! I knew I should have just pushed him into the urinal and drowned him when I gave birth to him!" Old Mrs. Lin, who had been summoned by the village chief, started spewing all sorts of nasty things outside the house before even entering.

"Old man Lin, if you don't listen to what your wife says, you'll both be kneeling in the ancestral hall all night." The clan elder, who had been waiting for the Lin family for a long time, scolded the old man Lin when he heard that the old lady Lin still dared to talk nonsense outside.

"If you don't shut up, you'll be kneeling in the ancestral hall tonight. Don't drag me down with you." Old Man Lin, who always liked to be involved in other people's business, felt humiliated when the clan elder pointed it out to him, so he yelled at Old Lady Lin.

He increasingly agreed with what Old Mrs. Lin said. If that unfilial son had drowned back then, there wouldn't be so much trouble today.
