Chapter 75
The atmosphere in the cabin was so quiet that it was a bit awkward.
On one side is the Bahrain Island with its bright lights and alluring night scenery, and on the other side is the dark and turbulent ocean. A small yacht is drifting in the middle of it, like a gambler holding the last chip, hesitant and swaying because he cannot see which side the waves of fate will push him to.
Zheng Juyong, wearing only a vest, scratched his shoulder with boredom, thinking to himself: She'd rushed here with me, so she must have a lot of questions, but why was she so quiet, not asking a single question? Because she was leaving, did she no longer care about what was going on here? Dong Zhiqiao had said on the phone that she had booked a flight for the morning after tomorrow. So, in about 36 hours, we'd have to say goodbye, and it would probably be a year before we met again.
Guan Ying had a mountain of questions weighing on her mind: what had happened to him at the Qiao family in Yunnan, how he and Daniel had gotten into the fight, how he had won Kassim's case, and why he had come so desperately to chase a strange foreigner named Fred... But she knew she would be leaving soon, and even if she asked, it wouldn't be relevant to her, and it would seem unnecessary. Besides, he might not be willing to explain himself. During this brief reunion, she felt a strange unfamiliarity with him, a strangeness that left her with a sense of loss. The reason for this loss seemed to be: he didn't seem to need her anymore!
Although she had disrupted many of her plans in the past because of him, and had been troubled by the big and small troubles he had caused, it was probably because of this that, from childhood to adulthood, she could proudly and frankly surpass him in front of the Zheng family and even everyone in Xicheng Steel. She was also used to doing whatever she wanted to him and bossing him around... Alas, he had changed so much, how could she still be the "Little Bully of Xicheng" in the future?
"When you jumped off the boat just now, did I hit your shoulder?" Zheng Juyong was the first to break the silence between the two.
Come to think of it, he'd only dared to follow behind her before, so how could he have dared to rush onto the deck from behind, holding her without her consent? She admitted that when she saw Fred start the boat, she hesitated out of fear and didn't muster up the courage to jump on board. If he hadn't made a quick decision from behind, Fred would have probably run away... Alas, what else would he dare to do now?
"Well, I'm fine." Because of all these random thoughts in her mind, Guan Ying's tone had a rare touch of weakness and insincerity.
"You said it's okay, but there is something wrong." Zheng Juyong acted decisively. He pinched her shoulders and turned her around. He then quickly sat astride the chair behind her and held her tightly between his thighs.
Guan Ying shrugged her shoulders, intending to stand up and run to sit across from her, but she was immediately clamped hard by his legs on both sides, and his hands pressed firmly from above, as if her body was frozen.
"You...you...don't do that..." Guan Ying was so nervous that she was almost incoherent. Because, behind her, he was sliding his hands along her neck, sliding towards her shoulders, groping and pinching her unscrupulously.
He was behind her and responded in a low voice: "Guan Ying, relax a little." His hands were pinching her upper arms, and his five fingers naturally pressed against her sensitive inner skin. This of course made her even more nervous, so nervous that her shoulders were raised and straightened even more, as if she had pinched his five fingers under her armpits.
Relax? How could she relax in this position? Guan Ying wanted to stand up and run away again, but she felt the force against her legs increase again, as if being bitten by a pair of pliers. She felt completely hopeless.
"A short pain is worse than a long one. You are the smart and brave little bully of West City. You won't wait until tomorrow your armpit is swollen like a pig's trotter and then go to the hospital to get a cast and bandages, right?" He teased her with a smile.
Pig's trotter! She wanted to turn around and see what kind of face he had. How could he say such vicious words!
The moment she twisted towards him, he quickly pulled his left hand away and wrapped it around her, holding her tightly. He then lifted her right arm with both hands, one above the other, and then swung it up and down. With a deft movement, two "clicks" were heard, and before Guan Ying could react, Zheng Juyong had reattached her to the socket with lightning speed.
"Ah!" Guan Ying was a little slow in her reaction and when she felt the pain, she was so scared that she closed her eyes and screamed.
Perhaps because he was afraid that she would move around, Zheng Juyong did not loosen his hands and kept pressing on her right arm, curling her up in his arms and letting her scream for a while.
The pain lasted only a moment, then vanished completely. When Guan Ying opened her eyes, she found herself nestled in his arms, her cheek touching his chest, and the sound of his powerful heartbeat reaching her ears unimpeded. For a moment, she dared not make a sound, even breathing with extreme caution, fearing that if she breathed too heavily, her breath would hit his skin and reveal her weakness.
Seeing that she had settled down in his arms, the pressure of his hands on her right arm noticeably loosened, but he still hesitated and didn't let go... He patted her shoulder gently, as if to make up for his own mistake and to comfort her for scaring her.
She didn't react, neither resisting nor dodging. Could she have fainted from fright? He slowly tilted his head, seeing her curled eyelashes and a blushing face. Suddenly, he laughed above her head: "Ha, are you scared silly? I didn't expect I had this skill."
As he spoke, his chest rose and fell naturally with his breath, moving straight and straightforwardly, unlike her who was suppressing and cautious. Humph, it seemed that she was the first to lose her composure! Guan Ying was a little annoyed. She struggled out of his arms, hugged her right arm, sat on the bench opposite, and turned to look at the sea outside the window.
"Okay, I apologize to you. I'm sorry." He still spread his legs apart proudly.
Was he sitting there just now... there? Fortunately, it was dark, otherwise he would have blushed and been so embarrassed. Guan Ying ignored him and continued to look out the window at the sea.
After a moment of silence, Zheng Juyong scratched his beard and said hesitantly, "I heard you've booked a flight for the morning after tomorrow. Your law school schedule must be very tight... You probably won't be back home during the holidays, right? I wonder when we'll meet again... I sincerely apologize. I'm sorry, it seems like I always disrupt your plans... But don't worry, this is the last time. I won't cause you any more trouble. Even if you encounter any problems, don't worry, I can handle it myself."
Oh, he really has grown wings. Guan Ying stubbornly turned her back to him, only looking at the blurry reflection on the glass window, and replied to him in a bad mood: "You better be able to!"
Zheng Juyong propped his knees up with his hands, hunched his shoulders, and hung his head in exhaustion. The glass window reflected his messy hair and curly beard, making him look truly unlucky.
Perhaps because his apology sounded reasonable, Guan Ying softened a little and muttered, "Ultraman..."
"Hmm?" He looked up.
Guan Ying said disdainfully, "Your eyes, have you ever seen a doctor? They're swollen like two salted eggs!"
"Oh, not so delicate. Brother Liu has already applied some medicine on my eyelids. I'll just have to wait for the swelling to go down."
"You're fighting, and you don't even know how to protect your head and face. How stupid!" Guan Ying regained her composure and turned to ask, "Daniel is always a steady man. How could he hit you in the eye? Even when we did that that night... he held back. What did you do afterwards to provoke him into hitting someone?"
She finally asked, not yet ignoring him! Zheng Juyong smiled lightly, a smile that was a little inappropriate.
Guan Ying frowned. He was the one who suffered a loss and got beaten by Daniel, so why was he so happy?
Zheng Juyong leaned against the window and shook his head. "How could he possibly tolerate me and you doing that? You wouldn't have thought of the consequences, unless I kissed you like a fool."
Guan Ying was angry with him: "Oh, I told you, you are a terrible kisser!"
Zheng Juyong narrowed his eyes and said, "At least it's better than the last two times, right?"
Twice? He said twice! Did he remember everything? The first time, she took advantage of him being drunk and deliberately teased him. That was really not glorious, terrible... Guan Ying was on pins and needles.
Zheng Juyong blurted out something, and when he realized what was happening, he was also embarrassed. He immediately changed his words and said, "Between Qiao Qi and I... we don't have much experience..."
The atmosphere was even more sinister! It was as if reminding her that the previous two times were because they mistook her for Qiao Qi!
Zheng Juyong realized he was even more incoherent than Guan Ying, and quickly turned back to the topic of Daniel. "That night, Daniel left in anger, and I was worried that the negotiations between Kassim and Nangang would be disrupted. The next day, I deliberately arrived late for the negotiations, so Daniel could vent his anger first... But the Nangang matter couldn't be delayed any longer. After his meeting, I met with Kassim alone. He's a businessman, and he knew the liquidated damages clause in the contract was a serious flaw. But Daniel's attitude had changed so firmly that he was concerned about his business relationship with Hassan and didn't want to offend him. Kassim and I are quite on good terms, so it wasn't difficult to meet him alone. I negotiated a deal with him."
Guan Ying was curious: "What kind of deal could allow him to disregard his friendship with Hassan?"
Zheng Juyong: "His sister Sophia."
Guan Ying recalled his conversation with Fred on the deck and connected the dots. "Wow, Zheng Juyong, you're capable of such things as forcing people to do this? You're really going to do anything to get business done. If you let Kassim backstab Daniel like this, he'll definitely beat you up..."
"He didn't hit me because of Kassim's backstabbing. They didn't have much of a relationship to begin with." Zheng Juyong sighed. "Oh, Kassim wouldn't meddle in such family matters. Daniel mistakenly thought it was between me and Kassim's sister... When he hit me, he also mentioned Qiao Qi. He thought I was flirting, cynical, and disrespectful, so he gave me a lecture. He probably hit me in the eye because he thought I was blind."
When Guan Ying heard this, she opened her mouth in surprise: Are all fights between men so confusing?
"Daniel wasn't wrong to hit me, actually. I had no reason to fight back. I was really blind." Zheng Juyong gave a self-deprecating smile, got up, crawled out of the cabin, and lay down on the deck. Looking at the night sky over the Persian Gulf, he said with relief, "This little injury is nothing."
