Chapter 12012 Sleeping in the same room
Chapter 12
There was a three-way intersection ahead, and Guard Yang stopped the carriage: "Miss Meng, we've gotten rid of them, so we'll just wait here for His Highness and the others."
Meng Yuning agreed and turned to look back. Sure enough, the large group caught up with them very quickly.
Mu Yun rode up first and bowed to Meng Yuning, "Miss Meng, please get off the carriage first."
Meng Yuning thought that Qi Jingyan was looking for her again, so she got off the carriage.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she got off the carriage, Mu Yun ordered the two guards: "Go up and take all the luggage down."
A guard got on the carriage as instructed and handed Meng Yuning's bag out of the window. "Miss Meng, this is yours, please take it first."
Meng Yuning took it and asked curiously, "Guardian Mu, do I need to change cars?"
Mu Yun: "No, but His Highness and the Little Prince also want to ride in this carriage."
The guard in the car handed out two more bundles from the window. Another guard took them and temporarily placed them on the grass by the roadside.
Meng Yuning was surprised and confirmed with Mu Yun again: "Your Highness and the Little Prince are going to squeeze into this carriage with me?"
Mu Yun patiently explained, "Yes, and Divine Doctor Tang, from now on, we will split into two groups. Miss Meng, you and His Highness will go the other way."
Meng Yuning understood after a little thought. This was probably to take advantage of the fact that the escorting officers and soldiers were still poisoned and unable to catch up, so that Qi Jingyan could quickly get out of their sight.
This was something that had never happened in the book. Meng Yuning didn't know why things suddenly changed, but change meant opportunity.
Thinking of this, Meng Yuning suddenly became a little excited. She quickly put her bag aside and helped to take the bag handed over by the guard in the car.
Several people worked together and soon unloaded the luggage that filled half of the carriage. Meng Yuning looked inside and found that the carriage was quite spacious even when there was no luggage. It should be more than enough for the three adults and one child.
Just as the carriage here was vacated, Qi Jingyan's carriage also arrived. Mu Yun and a guard helped Qi Jingyan down and helped him sit in the wheelchair. Then Mu Shan carried the seventeenth prince down and handed him to Qi Jingyan. The little boy was holding his tiger-head quilt in his hand.
Mu Feng climbed onto the large carriage, took out a blanket from it, got on the carriage that Meng Yuning had just been sitting in, and spread the thick blanket on the inner seat.
Without any delay, Mu Yun first put the seventeenth prince on the carriage, and then helped Qi Jingyan up.
Mu Yun got out of the car and bowed to Meng Yuning: "Miss Meng, please get in the car."
Meng Yuning agreed, picked up her bag and got on the carriage. Just as she sat down, Doctor Tang came up with a wooden box. He stuffed the box under the seat and sat opposite Meng Yuning.
Seeing that the four of them were seated, Mu Yun gave the order: "Let's go."
Guard Yang sat on the shaft of the carriage and whipped it, and the carriage drove into the small road on the right that was only wide enough for one carriage.
Meng Yuning leaned out of the car window and looked back, only to see that only Mu Yun, Mu Feng, and Mu Shan, along with about twenty guards, had followed on horseback.
The other guards, along with Qi Jingyan's large carriage, and the carts loaded with luggage and food, all headed forward along the original road.
Now that Qi Jingyan was no longer in the car, they were not afraid of bumping anyone off. The group marched at a rapid pace and ran forward with all their might.
Soon, the team of more than a hundred people disappeared.
On Meng Yuning's side, a guard stayed behind to clean up the mess. He cut a bamboo stick from the roadside and used it as a broom to sweep the road he had walked on. Dust flew everywhere, and when it landed on the ground again, the horse hooves and wheel tracks were not so clear.
Before, Meng Yuning rode in a car alone, lying down when she wanted to and sitting when she wanted to, very casually.
The car was full of people at the moment, and there was also His Royal Highness Prince Shen who had a cold face and didn't say a word. Meng Yuning became restrained unconsciously, and didn't look in his direction. She sat slightly sideways and kept looking out the window.
The group hurried on their way without speaking, moving at the fastest speed possible while ensuring stability.
The carriage turned many times and walked along the path for who knows how far, and came to a river more than ten feet wide. From a distance, they saw a medium-sized passenger ship waiting there, and a man was standing at the bow looking around.
Meng Yuning's heart tightened and she turned to look at Qi Jingyan.
Qi Jingyan glanced at her and said, "It's okay, we're one family."
Meng Yuning felt relieved and took a closer look, only to find that the man was actually wearing the clothes of a guard.
When the man saw them approaching, he jumped from the boat onto the shore and strode towards them. When he came close, he knelt on one knee and said, "Your Highness, everything is done."
Qi Jingyan: "Okay, thank you for your hard work."
Mu Feng happily stepped forward and patted the man on the shoulder: "Not bad, you two are pretty fast."
The man was also very happy: "Did you see all the marks I left?"
Mu Feng nodded: "I see, we just followed the marks all the way here."
Meng Yuning then realized that this person was one of the two guards who had secretly escaped yesterday while everyone was picking wild vegetables.
"Let's get on the boat." Doctor Tang shouted, and was the first to get off the carriage holding his box and ran to the boat.
Adhering to the principle of not lagging behind, Meng Yuning picked up her bag and followed him onto the boat without being asked.
Mu Feng also boarded the boat, holding the blanket in one hand and the seventeenth prince in the other.
In the end, Mu Yun and Mu Shan helped Qi Jingyan down together. Because the wheelchair was left with the main force, the two of them directly sent him to the boat.
Afterwards, five more guards came up, and the other guards rode on horses, driving the carriage back along the same route. The last guard continued to clean up the mess and clear away all traces.
As the guards walked away, the boat gradually moved away from the river and went downstream.
There was only one cabin on the boat. Mu Yun and several guards were on the deck, rowing and keeping vigilant watch.
Meng Yuning sat at the cabin door holding her bag, looking at the towering mountains on both sides of the river, wondering where the road ahead would lead.
No one spoke on the road again. After walking for about two hours, when Meng Yuning's stomach was rumbling with hunger, the boat finally docked. The sun was already setting.
Another guard had been waiting on the shore. After everyone disembarked, the guard pulled a simple sedan chair made of bamboo poles from the grass and said apologetically, "The mountain road is steep. It's not suitable for cars or horses. Your Highness, please bear with me."
Qi Jingyan said it was okay and was helped up by Mu Yun and Mu Feng. Mu Shan and an equally burly guard lifted the sedan steadily and walked briskly on the mountain road that was barely a road.
The Seventeenth Prince looked eagerly at Qi Jingyan, who was being carried to the front. He pointed with his little finger and said anxiously, "Brother."
It was a spring evening, and the temperature in the mountains was low. Mu Feng wrapped the Seventeenth Prince in the tiger-head blanket and held him tightly in his arms. "Your Highness, this road is not easy to walk on. Mu Feng will carry you."
After saying that, he quickened his pace and caught up with him.
A guard took Doctor Tang's box, another guard took Meng Yuning's bag, and everyone followed silently.
The mountain road was rugged and difficult to walk on, mainly because Meng Yuning and Doctor Tang could not keep up, so everyone accommodated them and walked and stopped. After walking for about an hour, Meng Yuning's legs began to tremble, and they finally stopped at a platform halfway up the mountain.
Meng Yuning put her hands on her hips and gasped for breath. She looked up and saw a wooden house in the afterglow of the setting sun.
The two guards who had escaped yesterday stepped forward and opened the door of the wooden house. One of them introduced, "Your Highness, few people come here. This wooden house must have been left by a hunter. No one has lived there for a long time. We have explored around and found many rare flowers and plants on this mountain. I think there should be the herbs that Doctor Tang is looking for."
Doctor Tang looked around and said cheerfully, "This place is excellent. If you can rest here for a month or more, your leg will be cured."
Meng Yuning was stunned and blurted out, "Then are we still going to Lingnan?"
Mu Yun replied: "We still have to go, but we have to wait until His Highness's leg injury is healed."
It takes a hundred days to heal a broken bone. Meng Yuning nodded, expressing her understanding: "That's what we need."
It was getting late, and Mu Yun and Mu Shan carried Qi Jingyan directly into the wooden house. Meng Yuning was curious about which room he would live in, so she followed him in to take a look.
But she was dumbfounded as soon as she entered the door. Why was there only one room in this wooden house besides the kitchen? Where did she sleep?
Qi Jingyan obviously did not expect this situation and looked at the guard.
The guard looked ashamed. "Your Highness, time is running out. We've looked at several places, and this is the only one that's suitable. But there's only one room. We were planning to chop some wood and build another, but we haven't had time yet. We can all sleep outside, but I don't know what Miss Meng will do."
Mu Feng put the seventeenth prince on the ground and spread the thick blanket in his hand on the only wooden bed in the room.
After he finished making the bed, Qi Jingyan was helped to sit on it. He looked around with a calm expression: "Let Miss Meng stay in the room. You can find a way to get her a bed. Let her use it for this night first, and we can deal with the rest tomorrow."
Meng Yuning was even more dumbfounded. Does that mean she would have to sleep in the same room with Qi Jingyan tonight?
