The news that Fukutaro disappeared in the sea and returned again quickly spread.
Fukutaro's mother, Shizuko, was drying fish listlessly when a hurried man rushed in, giving Shizuko a fright.
"What's wrong? Yamashita?" Shizuka looked at the enthusiastic neighbor in confusion.
"Jingzi, come out and see, your Ah Fu is alive!" Yamashita rushed in with sweat all over his head.
"Stop joking with me. Didn't they say that their ship was captured by a giant octopus at sea? Even the bodies were not found, so how could they be resurrected?" Shizuka said with a look of disbelief.
"I'm serious. I'm not lying to you. If I lied to you, I would never have children of my own in this life!" Yamashita swore.
Seeing him swear so seriously, Shizuka began to believe him a little and continued to ask, but this time her mouth and voice were trembling a little, "Yamashita, you are serious, right? You are telling the truth, right?"
"Yes..." Before Yamashita could finish his words, he heard Fukutaro's voice, "Mom, I'm back!"
The dried fish in Shizuka's hand fell to the ground and tears fell down.
"Afu, my Afu is back!" Jingzi chased out anxiously, and the mother and son bumped into each other.
Imei and the others followed behind Fukutaro.
After the two mother and son hugged each other for a while, Fukutaro finally remembered to introduce them, "Mom, let me introduce you, this is my benefactor who saved me. I was able to survive the disaster because of them."
Iyami and others nodded to Shizuko.
Shizuka bowed deeply to the four of them.
"Thank you for saving my son. I have nothing to repay you with, but if there is an afterlife, I am willing to be your slave to repay you!" Shizuka said sincerely.
Yi Yami waved her hands upon hearing this, "No, no, it's just a small favor."
Just as Shizuka was about to say something, she heard a loud bang and the bamboo door was kicked open.
"Akita Shizuko, Akita Fukutaro, get out here!" The man who spoke was a fierce-looking man with a slanted scar above his left eye, which was blind. There was a small, short beard between his philtrum and nose. When Yi Yami saw him, she thought to herself: What a perfect look! Then came a deep feeling of disgust, and Yi Yami's brows were furrowed as if they could kill a fly.
Shizuko looked up and saw the brother-in-law of the shipowner where Fukutaro worked. "Mr. Yamamoto, what can I do for you?"
"What's the matter?! I'm here to get back the pension that you and your son cheated from my sister!" said the man named Yamamoto ferociously.
"What pension, mother?" Fukutaro wondered.
"Didn't the guys on your ship die? All the dead received a pension. Your mother thought you were dead too, so she also received some money." The neighbor Yamashita replied.
"Mom, just give it back to him. I'm still alive anyway. It's not easy for that boss's wife either. We can still make more money. It's okay." Fukutaro tried to comfort Shizuko.
Shizuka glanced at Fukutaro with embarrassment, then whispered, "Son, it's not that I don't want to pay him back, but the pension they gave me is just a tiny amount, two taels of silver. I used that two taels of silver to perform a ritual for you, buy a coffin, and build a cenotaph for you. I also contributed a little money, so I can't come up with anything at all..."
When Fukutaro heard this, his face turned a little ugly. When his next-door neighbor Yamashita heard this, he prepared to go home to get his money.
Seeing them hesitating, Yamamoto said angrily, "You guys, don't you want to give it back to me?"
Yamamoto looked at Fukutaro and added, "If you don't return it to me, I will take it to the government office and accuse you, Fukutaro, of deliberately murdering the boss and embezzling the goods. I'll see what you can do then."
When Fukutaro heard this, his veins popped up and he clenched his fists, "You're slandering me!"
The more Yimei looked at Yamamoto, the angrier he became. This dog-like figure was no different from the group of people he hated in the beginning.
Gu Beijian sensed Yi Yami's emotional ups and downs, so he reached out and touched her on the back, "Calm down, when did you get so angry about someone else's affairs?"
"No, you don't understand. This is a kind of hatred between ethnicity and country. Although this is our first meeting, I just hate you!" Yi Yami said softly to Gu Beijian.
Yamamoto smiled and said, "Slander? You better understand. You're the only one who returned from such a big ship. If it wasn't you who did it, could it be me?"
Fukutaro was angry, and Gu Nanji took out two taels of silver from his pocket and handed it to him. Fukutaro looked at him in surprise. Gu Nanji raised his chin, indicating that he should solve it first.
Fukutaro was angry when he took the two taels of silver, but he still put it gently in Yamamoto's hand and said, "Two taels of silver, I return it to you."
"Hmph, wouldn't it be better if you took it out earlier?" Yamamoto weighed the silver, hummed a song, and left.
After Yamamoto left, Yi Yami winked at Gu Beijian. Gu Beijian understood what she meant and squeezed her hand. "Later, it's too bright now, it's not suitable."
Murong Jinyi and Gu Nanji didn't know what they were talking about. It sounded a bit ambiguous, but they didn't understand why. Murong Jinyi asked, "What are you two talking about?"
"It's okay, it's just a little secret between us." Yiyami smiled.
Murong Jinyi was even more confused. Jingzi felt very sorry and said, "My benefactors, I am really sorry. Not only did I not treat you well, but I also made you spend money."
"It's okay, auntie, we'll rest here for one night and leave tomorrow." Gu Beijian spoke first.
