Go to jail

Go to jail

Liang Youan stiffened, but still calmly said, "Qinghe, don't waste your time. I won't fall for such a low-level trick."

As soon as she finished speaking, a rope was placed on her and she was tied up tightly a moment later.

The Divine Beast King neatly and efficiently tied up the person, then stood behind Zhu Qinghe with his hands behind his back, concealing his merit and fame.

Zhu Qinghe clicked her tongue lightly: "I already told you I have a backdoor, why don't you believe me?"

Zhu Qinghe thoughtfully adjusted the ladies' positions to make them more comfortable, then stood up and said, "Alright, you can wait for me here. I'm going to scout out the sixth floor."

Song Feifei gritted her teeth in anger: "Despicable and shameless! When did you bribe this masked man? You're all in cahoots!"

"Feel free to report me after you get out," Zhu Qinghe said with a cheeky wave.

Liang Youan said anxiously, "Don't go to the sixth floor, it's very dangerous."

"Don't worry, I have connections," Zhu Qinghe reassured her with a smile.

She turned to leave, but suddenly stopped and looked at Bai Qiuru: "If I can win, I will definitely help you find out the truth."

Bai Qiuru's expression shifted, but she said nothing.

Zhu Qinghe and her back door mythical beast headed towards the sixth floor, where they had a brief exchange.

Do you know what's on the sixth floor?

"I don't know. To be honest, I don't even know this tower. I don't know what the old man is up to."

"We'll find out once we see."

On the opposite watchtower, Prime Minister Shen put down his telescope and calmly ordered, "We're already on the sixth floor; it's time to add some more ingredients."

The man on the bench next to me was turning the jade thumb ring on his thumb, the embroidery on the sleeves and hem of his robe was exquisite.

"He's still your son, isn't this a bit too cruel?"

Prime Minister Shen's face was stern, and his tone was calm and composed: "Even if he is my son, he is still a subject of my Great Li Dynasty. This is something he must go through."

The man stopped turning the ring, his tone carrying a faint smile: "As expected of Prime Minister Shen."

The sixth floor inside the tower.

Shen Wumei pulled Zhu Qinghe up the last step, and the latter suddenly hissed.

Shen Wumei turned around and asked her what was wrong. She was quite embarrassed and said, "My arm is dislocated."

He almost got himself killed trying to save a damsel in distress; it's a bit embarrassing.

Shen Wumei grabbed her shoulder and felt for the injured spot: "Why didn't you say so earlier?"

"I was so happy to see you that I forgot."

If they start with something so thrilling, who will remember they have injuries?

After their arms were healed, the two officially entered the sixth level.

As soon as she entered, Zhu Qinghe smelled a peculiar scent. She sniffed carefully in the air and asked, "Can you smell anything?"

Shen Wumei's expression was not good: "I smelled it, but I don't know what it is. Hold your breath for now."

After saying that, he remembered that she didn't know how, so he reached out and pinched her wrist so that she could cover her nose herself.

After all, he was too strong, and he was afraid that he might hurt her if he couldn't control his strength.

The sixth level was divided into layers of stone walls, and they walked through it as if in a maze, their attention focused to the extreme, for fear that the next turn would lead to a trap.

Zhu Qinghe was a little puzzled. Were Number Thirteen and Number Seven really here? What exactly did Liang Youan mean by the danger on the sixth floor?

Suddenly, a familiar shout came from ahead.

"Who are you? Don't come any closer!"

Zhu Qinghe was startled. "It's number 13. Let's hurry over there."

They rushed forward, only to be met by a group of masked men in black who threw a cloud of powder at them.

By the time she realized something was wrong, it was too late. Before Zhu Qinghe reluctantly fainted, she was still thinking.

How could these masked men in black make the exact same voice as Number Thirteen? That's just too illogical.

Zhu Qinghe was kicked awake. Before she could even open her eyes, she heard a man's deep, hoarse voice cursing.

"You're already inside and still trying to slack off? Do you think this is a place to sleep? Get up and get to work!"

Zhu Qinghe opened her eyes, and it took her a while for her eyes to adjust to the dim light before she could see her surroundings clearly.

A small vent above, thick iron railings, and damp straw beneath exuding a rotten smell.

All of this suggests that this is a prison cell.

What's going on? Weren't they on the sixth floor of the tower? What's happening now?

Seeing her stunned, the jailer took off his whip from his waist and lashed it hard at the ground, sending the straw flying everywhere.

"What are you standing there for? Get out and line up now!"

The leader of the group of female prisoners outside the door was a woman in her forties. She came over, grabbed Zhu Qinghe, and smiled apologetically at the jailer: "The new one is ignorant, please don't be angry, I'll take her out right away."

Zhu Qinghe was pulled into the group, still not understanding the situation. Her legs felt numb as soon as she got up, and she stumbled and bumped into someone. A girl with slanted eyes glared at her.

"You're really going to cause us trouble!"

The jailer led them to the field outside to work. She tugged at the cloth in front of her and pouted.

Being forced to embroider in prison is going to be the death of her.

Fortunately, the jailer disappeared after bringing them here, so she could try to get some information out of him since no one was watching her.

Zhu Qinghe saw the girl with slanted eyes embroidering not far away. She timidly approached her, forcing out a frightened and bewildered expression.

"Sorry, sister, I was still half asleep and didn't quite understand what was going on. Where am I?"

The girl with slanted eyes glanced at her, revealing an expression that said, "So you're a fool." She continued, "This is the number one women's prison in the Great Li Dynasty. Everyone who comes here has committed a serious crime. Judging from your appearance, you're probably implicated by your master."

A women's prison! Zhu Qinghe was startled.

She woke up to find herself in prison, and her feelings were quite complicated.

“Sister, you’re right. I was originally a personal maid of a high-ranking official’s daughter. When my master committed a crime, his property was confiscated, and he was exiled. I was then sent here.”

With a knowing look on his face, the man with slanted eyes said, "Judging from your appearance, you were also dragged into this mess. That's just how the world is; you can only blame your bad luck."

Zhu Qinghe was on the verge of tears: "My husband was arrested with me, I don't know how he is now?"

The man with the slanted eyes sneered, "What time is it? Worry about yourself. The men's prison next door has much better treatment than us."

The next cell is a men's prison. Could Shen Wumei be there?

She was the only one brought in. Shen Wumei was, after all, the Prime Minister's own son. Even a tiger wouldn't eat its own cub; she shouldn't be in prison, right?

As Zhu Qinghe was still pondering, a wooden bucket crashed to her side with a loud bang, startling her.

The woman with the slanted eyes was also startled and immediately yelled, "You crazy woman, are you trying to get yourself killed?!"

Zhu Qinghe looked over and saw that the person's messy hair covered half of her face. She was wearing a uniform gray linen female prisoner's uniform, and her black eyes, peeking out from between her hair, were glaring at her fiercely.

It seemed as if they wanted to cut a piece of flesh off her.

She shrank back behind the slanted-eyed man, looking pitiful. The slanted-eyed man, quite protective of her, immediately straightened his back: "Go act crazy somewhere else! If the jailer finds out, you'll be in big trouble!"

The woman, referred to as the "madwoman," spoke in a sinister voice: "Vixen, they're all vixens! Vixens all deserve to die!"

The woman with the slanted eyes rolled her eyes. The crazy woman was being dragged away by the other inmates. She turned back to Zhu Qinghe and said, "Ignore her, she's a lunatic."

Zhu Qinghe asked in a low voice, "What did she mean by what she just said?"

With a cold, slanted gaze, she said, "She was doing business outside, leaving her three-year-old daughter in her husband's care. As a result, her husband went out and fooled around, and the child fell to her death while trying to reach for candy on a stool."

Zhu Qinghe: "And then?"

The woman with slanted eyes said, "Then she went crazy, rushed to the brothel, grabbed a kitchen knife, and killed her husband with one blow. That's when she was arrested."

"Stay away from her. Now, whenever she sees a young and pretty girl, she thinks she's some vixen who's been having an affair with her man."

Zhu Qinghe nodded obediently and sighed, "She's a pitiful person too."

There are many pitiful people in this world. Apart from the rich and powerful, who isn't pitiful? Everyone is pitiful.

"And you, sister, how did you get in?" Zhu Qinghe asked.

"Hey, back in the day, I was a star performer in a theatrical troupe. A rich young man took a liking to me and wanted to take me as his concubine. I refused, but he tried to force himself on me."

“I’m not someone to be trifled with either. I’ll take a candlestick and make a big hole in the back of his head. He died on the spot, and that’s how I got in here.”

Zhu Qinghe said with admiration, "...Sister, you are really amazing."

"What's so great about you?" The girl with the slanted eyes was exasperated, thinking she was just a naive and innocent girl. "Everyone here has blood on their hands. People like you are a minority."

"You'd better be more careful."

After working for two hours, pricking four fingers, she produced a horrible mess of embroidery that was impossible to identify. The slanted-eye man couldn't bear to look at it and gave her two of his own embroidered pieces. That's how she managed to get away with it from the jailer.

Although her embroidery was terrible, she managed to gather a lot of information.

The girl with slanted eyes is named Li Qingqing. Coincidentally, Zhu Qinghe also gave herself the pseudonym Qingqing.

So Li Qingqing told her to call her "Sister Li," which sounded a little strange, but since Sister Li liked it, she understood.

The woman who first pulled her out to stand in line was the warden of cell number five, the oldest and also the one who usually behaved the best.

Everyone calls her Sister Zhang. She has a kind face, the kind of gentle and kind face you can see anytime on the street, like a small vendor's wife or a middle-aged mother, with a gentle and kind demeanor that comes from the everyday life around her.

They might like to take advantage of small things and be petty, but they don't seem particularly awful.

It is a very common and ordinary image of a woman. If you hadn't seen it with your own eyes in prison, you would never have guessed that this person was a serious criminal.

At lunchtime, Sister Zhang came over to talk to them, "Qingqing,"

The two responded at the same time, and Sister Zhang was taken aback.

Li Qingqing asked, "Which Qingqing are you looking for?"

Sister Zhang: "I'm looking for you. What's going on? This girl is also named Qingqing?"

"Yes, I am Daqing, and she is Xiaoqing."

"Alright then, you two are both involved in this." Sister Zhang continued to get down to business. "In a few days it will be the prison's open day, and there will be people coming to inspect. The men's prison is also making preparations. You're young and beautiful, so show your faces more often, and maybe you'll have a chance to be released."

Li Qingqing scoffed: "What kind of good person comes to inspect the prison? Did a donkey kick your head?"

Zhu Qinghe laughed out loud.

Sister Zhang scolded Li Qingqing, "You should watch your mouth."

"Anyway, that's how it is. Whether you want to participate in the show and appear on screen is up to you."
