Chapter 35: Little Gardener Nian Nian Shows His Magical Power Again
The tip of his eyebrows moved slightly, and Jiang Duan subconsciously wanted to block out the sounds around him. He ignored everyone and plunged into his default do not disturb mode.
"Jiojio, you bad boy, hit Nian Nian's jiojio." The little guy held his feet and struggled hard, muttering to himself. The sound of his milk gurgling was like a puppy gnawing on a big bone.
Jiang Duan somehow couldn't ignore it. He put down the picture book on his lap and walked around to Nian Nian.
The little guy was trying to get his fingers into the soles of his shoes.
In hot weather, summer shoes tend to be simple and cool, with no fabric on the left, right, and back sides. This makes it easy for unknown objects, such as small stones and sand, to get into the shoes.
Of course, there will be no stones or sand in the toy room.
Jiang Duan restrained Nian Nian's hands, who was sweating profusely as she scratched her feet. "What are you doing? Are your feet itchy?"
"Nian Nian doesn't have any." The little guy complained and revealed the truth, "Ban Ban, put on your shoes."
He emphasized dissatisfiedly: "Nian Nian."
Jiang Duan froze in place, trying to understand what Nian Nian said.
Nian Nian thought this meant that Jiang Duan was indifferent to his experience. He pouting, he tried his best to reach for the triangle under his feet.
Jiang Duan couldn't bear it anymore, so he pushed Nian Nian's hand away and took off his shoes.
As the shoe fell off the foot, the smallest triangular piece of the tangram fell to the carpet.
Nian Nian grabbed the small triangle ruler and cursed: "Bad ruler! Nian Nian's feet hurt!"
While cursing, her toes were gurgling inside her almond-colored socks.
Jiang Duan, who was wondering how Nian Nian could manage to fit the triangle puzzle into her shoe while playing a tangram, stared at Nian Nian and smiled at her rarely.
Turning around, Nian Nian cast her starry eyes at Jiang Duan and said, "Brother, you're awesome."
In the little guy’s mind, anyone who can take off Xiao Nian Nian’s shoes is awesome.
Who would have thought that as soon as she looked over, Nian Nian opened her eyes wide.
"Brother, smile." The little guy was a little shocked by Jiang Duan's smile.
Jiang Duan's double eyelids are not parallel, on the contrary, his double eyelids are relatively narrow, gradually flaring from the middle of the eye to the end of the eye.
This type of eyes looks cold and aloof when not smiling, but the contrast is quite clear when smiling, like a pool of ice water melting in the warm spring breeze.
He seemed to realize the change in his expression, and he lowered the corners of his lips and regained his composure.
Nian Nian shook his arm: "Brother, smile."
Jiang Duan felt uneasy. Just now, as he looked at Nian Nian, a stream of fresh air flowed through his heart, making him smile unconsciously. He rarely experienced such feelings, and he couldn't help but feel a little unfamiliar.
"Brother?" Nian Nian called him.
Jiang Duan changed the subject again: "Let's not play tangram anymore. Is there anything you want to play with?"
The innocent Nian Nian was led astray: "Nian Nian, I want to see flowers."
"Okay." Jiang Duan helped him put his shoes back on, threw the picture book and jigsaw puzzle back into the toy box, and took him to find Cheng Huili.
The two babies walked to the tatami.
Nian Nian gently tugged at Jiang Duan's hand and said, "Auntie, go to sleep."
Cheng Huili was sleeping soundly on the tatami.
Jiang Duan was very calm: "It's okay, I know where grandpa grows his flowers."
He didn't wake up Cheng Huili. He pulled Nian Nian and turned to walk to the closed door. He stood on tiptoe, raised his hand and pressed the door handle. With a "click", the closed door opened.
Two small figures, one tall and one short, slipped away from the toy room silently.
Jiang Duan led Nian Nian around and around until they reached the floor-to-ceiling window facing the back garden.
The gauze curtains on the Jiang family's floor-to-ceiling windows are always drawn and gathered at the corners on both sides. Large patches of sunlight penetrate the glass and shine on the pots of greenhouse green plants on the flower stand on the left, creating a beautiful array of colors at first glance.
The flower stand wasn't very high, only about one meter, but it was a huge thing for the two little guys, Jiang Duan and Nian Nian.
The most eye-catching thing is the pot of Begonia on the second layer of the flower stand. The pink flowers are round, plump, large and gorgeous.
Nian Nian stumbled forward two steps, leaned on the flower rack and sniffed.
"Grandpa likes the crabapple blossom the most," Jiang Duan said, "because grandma likes it."
"Yeah, Nian Nian, I like it too." The little guy nodded seriously, and then said, "Brother, it's thirsty."
It was very thirsty. The tips of its leaves were curled up and the outermost petals were yellow and dry, like the edge of burnt paper.
"What does thirsty mean? Water it?" Jiang Duan gradually understood the logic of Nian Nian's language construction.
"Well, Nian Nian feeds it, and it wants Hu Hu." The little guy stretched out his hand towards Jiang Duan.
Watering can?
Jiang Duan walked around to the left side of the flower stand and took out a small watering can: "Grandpa uses this to water the flowers."
This kettle was much larger than the small kettle that Shi Jianfeng prepared for Nian Nian, and there was still some water left in it. Nian Nian rashly took the handle of the kettle and her hand dropped, and she was almost pulled to the ground by the weight of the kettle.
"I'll do it." Jiang Duan helped Nian Nian steady herself.
"Yeah." Nian Nian was not stubborn. He pointed at several leaves and petals of the Begonia, as well as the drier areas of the soil in the flowerpot. "Drink some water."
Jiang Duan took up his kettle and watered the various spots in turn, pressing down on the handle to spray the mist. After a few sprays, he asked, "Is it ready?"
Nian Nian observed it imitatingly and said, "Brother, water it."
Jiang Duan sprayed him a dozen more times: "Is that enough?"
"Yeah." Nian Nian's eyes widened. "Brother, it's hot."
Jiang Duan: "How do you know?"
"Niannian, I know." Niannian puffed out her chest proudly, "Huahua is hot too."
Jiang Duan lowered his eyes for a few seconds, then mindlessly joined Nian Nian's camp: "Then put it on the bottom shelf, where it won't be exposed to the sun."
"Okay. Brother, hold her. Nian Nian is small." The little guy was very self-aware. He was exhausted when he was dragging his feet to lift a small pot of flowers in the greenhouse, let alone the one in front of him.
Jiang Duan started working without saying a word, and quickly moved the Begonia to the bottom level of the flower stand.
Just when the task was completed, an anxious female voice came through the hall:
"Duan? Nian Nian? Where did she go?"
