Chapter 85 Nian Nian is shocked
"Sit here, sit here!"
Xi Zimu patted the seats a few times and said, "Let's sit in a row."
There were four seats in a row. He touched the edge of the table with both hands and moved spontaneously to the empty seats on the inside, until he moved to the seat next to a child at the back.
After they sat down, there happened to be two seats left, so Nian Nian and Jiang Duan squeezed in and sat down one by one like dumplings.
As soon as her butt touched the bench, Nian Nian couldn't help but kick her legs and followed the example of other kids who had arrived in class earlier to stuff her schoolbag into the hole on the desk.
"Nian Nian, sit down. Brother Duan, Mu Mu, what are we going to do next?"
Xi Zimu was stunned, and scanned the entire class. Currently, there were only a few empty seats left in the Star Class; almost all the students were present.
Apart from children like them who were calm and sitting in their seats obediently, most of the other children were crying, some were wiping their tears quietly, and some were sobbing softly.
"It seems... like she's about to cry," Xi Zimu said uncertainly, "Is this also part of the registration process?"
After saying that, Jiang Duan looked at him with strange eyes again.
“It’s not a registration process.”
A voice interrupted their conversation.
Nian Nian and the other two turned to look at the person who made the voice behind Xi Zimu.
Ji Shuhe met their gazes without any fear, "They are separated from their parents and are very sad, so they are crying."
Nian Nian suddenly realized: "I see, Nian Nian understands."
He cried at home because he couldn't bear to leave his father.
Xi Zimu was completely confused: "They went home in the afternoon. And why were they crying together?"
Ji Shuhe paused, not knowing how to express himself, and asked, "Why aren't you crying?"
He occasionally comes to the kindergarten to visit his mother who is at work. There are always children in the kindergarten who want to go home, so he is used to it.
"The three of us are good friends." Xi Zimu smiled and hugged Nian Nian. "Come to kindergarten just to play together in a different place. After playing, we will go home."
"Well," Nian Nian said, pouting and nodding her chin, "With Brother Duan and Mu Mu around, Nian Nian is not afraid."
Jiang Duan followed his traditional way of speaking, saying, "Yeah."
Ji Shuhe understood everything, and with the upper body lying on the desk, he couldn't help but lean towards them, with a gesture that showed he was eager to communicate: "What are your names? My name is Ji Shuhe."
Xi Zimu patted his chest and said, "Xi Zimu."
"My name is Shi Nianzhu." This time Nian Nian did not forget to change her full name.
"Jiang Duan."
It was a bit difficult for Ji Shuhe to remember three names at once. With a serious face, he repeated the three names to his face in his mind to strengthen his memory.
After a short conversation, they went around in circles and finally returned to the original question.
"What are we doing?" Nian Nian put her soft and fair face on the table boredly.
Jiang Duan silently stretched out his palm and placed it under his face: "It's dusty and unhygienic."
Nian Nian turned around, pulled Jiang Duan's arm, and used her hand to pat away the dust that was invisible to the naked eye from his clean palm.
"Wipe it clean. Nian Nian won't lie down anymore."
Ji Shuhe's eyes widened: "The table is very clean, the kindergarten will disinfect it."
"Don't worry about Jiang Duan," Xi Zimu said, looking like an experienced person. "He's very clean."
"Okay." Ji Shuhe turned his attention back to the problem.
He glanced around the packed classroom and said, "The teacher should be here soon to hand out our textbooks."
Like a prophet, as soon as the words came out of his mouth, two teachers, a man and a woman, pushed a cart full of textbooks into the Star Class. One of them was Teacher Tan, whom they had already met at the registration office.
The little kids in their seats, some crying and some laughing, all looked over.
"Hello, children in the Starry Sky class. We are the two teachers of the Starry Sky class. I am Teacher Tan. You have met me at the registration office. Do you remember me?"
"Remember--"
The children below the podium responded in varying degrees.
The male teacher then spoke, "I'm Teacher Qin, and I'm also in the Xingxing class. Children, please come to me if you have any questions."
After a brief introduction, they distributed the textbooks and told the children that after class they could go to the back of the classroom to find the lockers with the same numbers as the numbers on the upper right corner of their desks.
After telling the children how to use some basic facilities, they began to encourage the little ones on their first day of school to come on stage in order of their seats to introduce themselves and get to know each other.
Nian Nian and his friends’ seats were in the middle of the class, so their speaking order was neither early nor late.
With the experience of reporting in and chatting with Ji Shuhe, they introduced themselves fluently.
While listening attentively to the children behind him introducing themselves, Ji Shuhe looked at the sun hanging high outside and whispered, "It's time for lunch."
Xi Zimu turned his head: "How did you know? The teacher hasn't told me yet."
"Ji Shuhe, Nian Nian is a little skeptical." Nian Nian pinched her thumb and index finger to indicate a tiny distance.
Jiang Duan looked at the clock hanging right above the blackboard.
The shortest and thickest needle is almost pointing to eleven o'clock.
The last child’s introduction is over.
Teacher Tan clapped her hands and said, "Okay, we've gotten to know each other a little bit now. The morning is almost over. Are you hungry, kids? I'll take you to lunch, okay?"
"good--"
The classroom suddenly became restless.
Xi Zimu and Nian Nian looked at Ji Shuhe with admiration, and four big words were written in their eyes: You are so awesome.
"Everyone hold hands and line up behind the teacher."
Teacher Tan stood at the front, with a group of young children in the middle. Teacher Qin followed at the end to prevent any children from falling behind.
Among a group of little ones, four little ones were holding hands and chatting.
"You know so much!" Xi Zimu was full of admiration.
Nian Nian briefly released her right hand from Jiang Duan's, measured a long distance again, and said with conviction, "Nian Nian believes in you, a lot!"
Jiang Duan asked, "Are you familiar with this place?"
"yes."
Ji Shuhe naturally said something that shocked the three little guys:
"This kindergarten is run by my mother."
