Chapter Twenty-Four
“He took Father’s things,” Zhu Hanyu said without thinking.
"You're talking nonsense. How could I have taken anything from my imperial uncle?" Xu Qingshi thought to himself that he wasn't stupid and would never take anything from the emperor.
He still wants his head.
"How could there not be? Since those things were promised to my father, aren't they my father's? Did you ask my father for permission before keeping them in private?" Zhu Hanyu questioned without thinking.
"I..." Xu Qingshi didn't know what to say for a moment. He had indeed kept those things without telling the Emperor.
"Don't frighten Qingshi, you child." Upon hearing this, the Empress seemed to understand that Xu Qingshi had probably taken something. However, she felt that given the Emperor's high regard for Prince An, he probably wouldn't do anything to the child.
"In the Qing Dynasty, you had to ask the Emperor for permission before you could take anything that belonged to your Imperial Uncle," the Empress said to Xu Qingshi with a smile.
"Your Majesty, Qing Shi understands. Qing Shi will go find my Imperial Uncle right away." Xu Qing Shi lowered his head, realizing that it was not good for him to leave those things behind rashly.
"Hanyu, you accompany Qingshi to see your father. If he is busy with official duties, wait until he is finished before going." The Empress said, glancing at her youngest son. Then, remembering the child's loud crying, she quickly added, "He mustn't cry."
"Mother, can't Qing Shi go by himself? I didn't take anything from Father." Zhu Hanyu was terrified of his father and was extremely unhappy.
"Is Qingshi still your good friend? If you keep doing this, what if Qingshi stops taking you out to play in the future?" the Empress said irritably.
In fact, wasn't she also trying to get her son to befriend Xu Qingshi because of Prince An?
Currently, the Emperor has not yet appointed a Crown Prince, and Prince An is the Emperor's confidant. If Prince An could lend Hanyu a helping hand...
"Come with me. If my stepmother has any new and interesting things, I'll send you one too," Xu Qingshi said, carefully tempting her with the Luban lock that Li Zhiwei had promised him.
"You said it, so you can't go back on your word." Zhu Hanyu was very excited at the thought of the fun things to come.
"When have I ever lied to you?" Xu Qingshi patted his chest and assured him.
The two quickly made a plan to go to the emperor together to plead for his life.
Watching the two figures disappear into the distance, the Empress sighed softly.
"Your Majesty, will the Emperor blame the Prince An's son for what he did this time?" a nanny whispered.
"It's alright. It's probably just something the young master took a fancy to among the things that the merchant girl promised to donate to the court. The national treasury is full because of the young master, so the emperor probably won't blame him." The empress didn't seem to care.
She felt that the Emperor wouldn't care about this at all, and might even forget about it in the blink of an eye.
However, she also heard that the Li family girl's dowry was very generous.
"Did Prince An marry that Li family girl as his second princess?" the Empress asked after thinking for a moment.
"Your Majesty, I've heard that's true, but His Majesty hasn't commented on the matter," the nanny quickly replied.
"Go to the storeroom and select a few appropriate wedding gifts to send to Prince An and Princess An, to express my congratulations on their marriage." The Empress thought to herself, "If the Empress didn't say anything, she might have other ideas, but the Emperor shouldn't disagree with this."
"yes!"
Xu Qingshi and Zhu Hanyu stopped at the entrance of the Imperial Study, not daring to trespass.
"Oh, isn't this the Third Prince and the Prince of An's heir? Do you have something to discuss with the Emperor?" Eunuch Liu spotted the two young masters from afar, and seeing them standing at the entrance of the Imperial Study, he smiled and stepped forward to ask.
"Eunuch Liu, is my father busy right now?" Zhu Hanyu asked in a low voice, his small eyes constantly glancing towards the Imperial Study.
