Chapter 47 Don't you believe in yourself? (1/2)

Chapter Forty-Seven

Xu Heming was taken aback. He wasn't sick, but the Emperor had surprisingly given him a day off.

Thinking of Li Zhiwei's fright, Xu Heming was worried that he didn't have time to accompany her.

"Your Majesty, I thank you for your concern. I will recover as soon as possible and return to serve Your Majesty," Xu Heming said calmly.

Treasure Pavilion

Lin Ziyi couldn't listen anymore. Her face turned bright red with embarrassment. She took a few steps forward and covered the mouth of her unfilial son, Wei Herui, who was still gesturing "three circles."

"Ugh... ugh..." Wei Herui struggled, and when he turned around, he realized it was his mother. He was immediately filled with fear and his arrogance diminished.

Lin Ziyi gave an awkward smile to Madam Qu and the ladies who were watching the commotion. "Children speak without thinking, children speak without thinking... Sister Qu, everyone, we'll take our leave now."

After Lin Ziyi finished speaking, she practically fled with Wei Herui away from the Treasure Pavilion.

Feeling annoyed, I realized I must have forgotten to check the almanac before going out today; otherwise, how could I have lost so much face?

She was also a little annoyed that Wei and Rui spoke without thinking.

Xu Qingshi watched Wei Herui being dragged away, and proudly raised his chin like a victorious little rooster.

Hmph, trying to compare your father to his? No way!

However, his smugness didn't last long before he heard the low, barely suppressed laughter and murmurs of the ladies around him:

"Prince An... walking around the city shirtless? Really?"

"If it's true, then we should go and see..."

"Minister Wei of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices is no less impressive, he even did three laps!"

"Tsk tsk, you really can't judge a book by its cover..."

Xu Qingshi belatedly realized that he seemed to have said something he shouldn't have.

His face flushed slightly, but he forced himself to remain calm, thinking: Father will definitely not know about this!

Anyway... anyway, as long as we beat Wei and Rui, that's all that matters!

He lost interest in shopping, and carrying the hairpin he had just bought, he quickly slipped back to the Prince An's mansion with his servant.

I have to go back and tell my stepmother that he was really something today!

Imperial Palace, Imperial Study

Zhu Jingchen looked at Xu Heming, who was standing respectfully below, and tapped his fingers lightly on the imperial desk.

"Minister Xu, I have read your petition requesting my marriage decree," Zhu Jingchen said slowly. "However, is Minister Li aware of your request for my marriage decree?"

Xu Heming's heart tightened, but his face remained calm: "Your Majesty is wise. Your humble servant and Miss Li are mutually in love, and I humbly request Your Majesty's permission."

She felt somewhat uneasy, after all, Li Tianyou seemed to disapprove of their marriage.

"Of course I will grant your request." A hint of amusement flashed in Zhu Jingchen's eyes. "However, I recently heard an interesting story about Prince An. I didn't expect that after resting for a few days, Prince An would do something so sensational. But next time, could you invite me along? I'd like to see it for myself!"

Suddenly, Zhu Jingchen pictured Xu Heming running naked to the side, while he watched with great interest.

Xu Heming was taken aback: "I wonder what Your Majesty is referring to?"

Xu Heming felt that the Emperor's gaze was somewhat strange, making him uncomfortable.

Zhu Jingchen's expression became very strange, as if he was trying his best to suppress his laughter. Looking at Xu Heming, who had a puzzled look on his face, he finally couldn't help but burst into laughter.
