Chapter 48 Don't Even Think About Escaping (1/2)

Chapter Forty-Eight

"Ah, what did the young master say?" Li Zhiwei looked at Xu Qingshi somewhat embarrassed and asked.

Good heavens, just now, she actually imagined Xu Heming running naked.

For a moment, I was so engrossed in thinking that I drifted off into my own thoughts.

"Hmph, Li Zhiwei, do you think that just because you've become my stepmother, you can ride roughshod over me? You have to listen to what I'm saying," Xu Qingshi said with some dissatisfaction.

Remembering the method the Fourth Prince had taught him, he spoke to Li Zhiwei with an arrogant air.

"The young prince's mood is like the weather, sometimes sunny, sometimes rainy, but..." Li Zhiwei thought of his father, who was now the Vice Minister of Revenue appointed by the Emperor himself. As for his marriage to Prince An, the Emperor had not yet expressed his opinion, so whether it would be successful was still unknown.

"But what?" Xu Qingshi was surprised that Li Zhiwei's attitude had changed.

Isn't she afraid that her father will abandon her?

"Young Master, it seems that my marriage to your father is no longer valid." Li Zhiwei smiled as he thought of this.

After all, the Lin family issue was resolved, so she had nothing to worry about.

It wasn't that she felt Xu Heming was unworthy of her.

Instead, they felt they were not good enough for him.

Back then, if it weren't for unavoidable circumstances, she would never have dared to dream of this dream lover whom everyone in the capital wanted to marry.

"You're talking nonsense!" Xu Qingshi was displeased upon hearing this. He had just boasted to Wei Herui that Li Zhiwei was his mother.

How can it be disregarded?

“Young Master, I am not lying. His Majesty has never agreed to this matter.” In fact, Li Zhiwei also knew that the Li family’s status was awkward. Even though her father had become the Vice Minister of Revenue, Xu Heming was also a confidant of the Emperor and probably would not want him to have too much contact with her family.

"You're talking nonsense. How could your royal uncle disagree? You don't mean you still want to marry Lin Jitong, do you? Have you forgotten that he wouldn't even let you in the door back then?" Xu Qingshi looked at Li Zhiwei with a face full of disappointment.

I was so angry.

Is Li Zhiwei stupid?

"I didn't want to marry Lin Jitong," she quickly said, seeing Xu Qingshi's anxious expression.

"So you think my father is ugly?" Xu Qingshi asked Li Zhiwei with a conflicted expression.

He thought to himself, if he thought his father was ugly, he couldn't exactly change his father's face, could he?

Thinking of this, Xu Qingshi's small brows furrowed tightly.

“Your father is handsome and dashing, it has nothing to do with being ugly,” Li Zhiwei said, looking at Xu Qingshi, who was anxious, with a mix of amusement and exasperation.

"So you think my father is too poor?" Xu Qingshi frowned, thinking about the piles and piles of things Li Zhiwei had back then.

Now that they're all gone, could it be because Li Zhiwei is still angry with her father for not leaving those things for her?

Xu Qingshi's face scrunched up in confusion: "Then why did you say the marriage is off?"

Xu Qingshi couldn't figure out why Li Zhiwei was unwilling to marry her father.
