Chapter 49 Why Be So Polite? (1/2)

Chapter Forty-Nine

"Hmm? You still want to run away?" Xu Heming raised an eyebrow, leaned close to Li Zhiwei's ear, and asked.

“Your Highness, I cannot make this decision.” Upon hearing this, Li Zhiwei was first taken aback, then secretly cursed Xu Heming for being treacherous.

Did he ask for his opinion on this?

Perhaps because the Lin family might receive the punishment they deserve, Li Zhiwei's state of mind has also undergone a significant change.

Furthermore, Li Tianyou is now considered a government official, which gives her more confidence.

"Then who can make the decision?" Xu Heming asked Li Zhiwei.

"Stepmother, don't you want to marry my father?" Xu Qingshi asked unhappily as he watched the two whispering to each other.

“I didn’t say that.” Li Zhiwei looked at Xu Heming, thinking how insidious this man was.

“However, Your Highness, it is said that marriages are arranged by parents and matchmakers. Shouldn’t we have asked my father about this?” Li Zhiwei felt that she had no choice before.

"Yes, it's only right to inform my father-in-law." Xu Heming nodded, not seeing any problem with it.

"Your Highness." Li Zhiwei looked at Xu Heming, feeling somewhat hesitant. She wondered if her next words would anger Xu Heming or make him think she was ungrateful.

"Any other requests?" Xu Heming was unaware that Li Zhiwei's eyes could be so expressive.

Back then, Li Zhiwei, whom Xu Qingshi brought back, always kept her head down.

Now, it actually feels much more vibrant.

"If you have any requests, just say so." Xu Heming felt that Li Zhiwei still seemed to distrust him somewhat, and he felt a little uneasy.

“Father, it must be because you’re too harsh. Your stepmother doesn’t want you anymore,” Xu Qingshi said, looking at Xu Heming with disdain.

“Stepmother, if you think my father is not good enough, why don’t you consider me?” Xu Qingshi stood in front of Li Zhiwei and patted his chest as he spoke.

"Go away, go away, what business is this of yours, you little brat?" Xu Heming looked at his son who wanted to steal his wife, his face full of black lines.

This brat, not only is he not going to help, but he's even trying to make things worse?

“Father, don’t stop me from doing things I can’t do myself. I quite like this stepmother,” Xu Qingshi said unhappily.

Li Zhiwei watched as the father and son fought fiercely for her sake.

"Besides, this person was brought back by me. Not only did you let someone take your stepmother's things, but you should just get rid of this person. My third aunt likes you quite a bit, doesn't she?" Xu Qingshi said like a little adult.

However, when Zhou Yuying was mentioned, the disdain in Xu Heming's eyes was all too obvious.

He dislikes women who pretend to be something they're not in front of him.

"Xu Qingshi, if you like the Zhou family, I'll have someone pack you up and send you there right now," Xu Heming threatened coldly.

“Stepmother, look, my father hasn’t even married my third aunt yet, and he’s already sending me away. From now on, I’ll be an unwanted child. Please take me in!” Upon hearing this, Xu Qingshi hugged Li Zhiwei’s leg tightly, looking as if he had suffered a great injustice.

Li Zhiwei was both amused and exasperated. She looked at the child's father beside her and gestured to him with her eyes to quickly comfort his child.

"Don't you know that men and women shouldn't touch each other?" Xu Heming said, grabbing Xu Qingshi by the back of his collar and placing him a zhang away from Li Zhiwei.

"I'm still a child!" Xu Qingshi exclaimed indignantly, cursing his father in his heart for being heartless.
