Chapter 318
"This is the Zhou family?" Zhu Jingchen asked, frowning.
"Your Majesty... Your Majesty, this is Lord Zhou's residence," Eunuch Liu quickly replied.
"It looks like nothing special," Zhu Jingchen said with a look of disdain.
He thought to himself, "How dare this old lady of the Zhou family extort his son?"
Do you want to die?
"Go knock on the door!" Zhu Jingchen ordered in an unfriendly tone.
"This old servant will go right away." Eunuch Liu hurriedly stepped forward to knock on the door, but before he could even knock, the door was gently pushed open.
Eunuch Liu was taken aback. In this huge mansion, wasn't there a single gatekeeper or servant?
Liu Gonggong peered inside curiously, but saw nothing.
Nobody here?
"Sir, the door isn't closed, and it seems like no one's here," Eunuch Liu quickly added.
"Let's go in and take a look." Zhu Jingchen thought to himself, if Xu Qingshi really had an accident in this Prince's Mansion, he would probably be at the Zhou family's house right now.
Eunuch Liu quickly stood in front of Zhu Jingchen, fearing that someone might suddenly kick out and bump into the emperor.
Zhu Jingchen, however, was not afraid at all. He looked around and thought that perhaps he could find someone to ask for directions.
Unfortunately, half of the servants in this courtyard went to Tingyun Courtyard for questioning, while the other half were still being disciplined by Madam Qin.
All Zhu Jingchen could do was wander around aimlessly, just like when Zhu Hanyu first arrived.
"Go and find out where Xu Heming is," Zhu Jingchen said to the hidden guards.
A dark shadow flashed by.
"You said that Zhou Zhonghe's monthly salary is only twenty-five taels of silver, and his courtyard must require quite a bit of silver, right?" Zhu Jingchen looked at the courtyard and couldn't help but ask curiously.
“Sir, you are right,” Eunuch Liu replied with a smile.
"Back then, Zhou Zhonghe wanted to marry his daughter to Prince An, thinking that by climbing into Prince An's family, he could rise to prominence. Little did he expect that his daughter was unlucky." Zhu Jingchen sighed as he thought of this.
"Master, they're in an abandoned courtyard to the southeast," a guard returned shortly after.
"Take me there to have a look," Zhu Jingchen said, frowning.
When Zhu Jingchen arrived, he saw Xu Heming personally leading people to search for something in the courtyard.
"Old Xu!" Zhu Jingchen waved to Xu Heming.
"Master? What brings you here?" Upon hearing this, Xu Heming quickly walked up to Zhu Jingchen, intending to bow, but Zhu Jingchen stopped him.
"I came secretly, don't pull this on me. How's it going? Did you find him?" Zhu Jingchen looked at Xu Heming, his eyes also filled with worry, thinking about Xu Qingshi's disappearance.
"No," Xu Heming said sullenly.
"No news is good news," Zhu Jingchen said, patting Xu Heming's shoulder gently.
"Thank you for your concern, Master," Xu Heming quickly replied.
“If not, they must have been rescued. Come with me to see the Zhou family.” Zhu Jingchen was planning to stand up for Xu Heming.
