Chapter 409 Avoiding Disaster

The tsunami destroyed one obstacle after another. Yin gripped the window tightly with both hands; it was certain that the naval port would be swept away.

"Fourth brother, take Qingyan and hurry to the children's courtyard. Your sister-in-law and I are here!" Yin said, looking at the tsunami. They had already passed the third obstacle, and there were four more obstacles before they were about to be swept into the military port.

"Elder Brother" Yin and Qingyan stared at Yin. "Please come with us. Everything has been arranged here!"

Yin specifically instructed that after encountering the tsunami, they should prepare for the worst. He arranged for experienced personnel to conduct a final assessment, but neither Yin nor he were the best candidates.

"Fourth brother, someone must be in charge!" Yin raised a different opinion.

"Brother, what Fourth Brother said is very true. If you stay here, the Commander-in-Chief will have to protect you!" Qingyan also stood aside and advised.

If any of the princes were to perish in this natural disaster, these commanders would likely be held responsible, and they would do everything in their power to protect Yin.

“Master, Xiao Guai is right. If you stay here, it will definitely make things difficult for the commanders!” Yin Genjue Luo Shi also advised from the side.

The commanders echoed this sentiment, saying that if they were willing to die on the battlefield, it would be a serious matter if Yin were to be buried with them, and might even lead to punishment from Emperor Kangxi.

“Prince Zhi, it would be good if we had servants here.” The commanders, seeing Yin’s advice, also felt that what Yin said made a lot of sense.

After much persuasion from the crowd, Yin finally left.

The group hurried to the courtyard on the mountain. As soon as they arrived at the gate, Yiken'e was strolling around inside the courtyard.

"Father" Yiken'e saw Yin and quickly ran over, hugging Yin's knees.

Yin picked up Yiken'e in his arms, a smile appearing on his face.

The sound of waves crashing outside filled the air, and the sky grew somewhat overcast. A hint of seriousness appeared on Shu Yun's face.

"Mother!" Yiken'e turned to look at Qingyan, her phoenix eyes filled with tears. The intense emotions of joy and sorrow had taken their toll on her small body.

Qingyan picked Yiken'e up directly from Yin's arms, pinched his little face, and felt relieved that the children were alright.

"You're finally back!" Yiken buried her head in Qingyan's shoulder, nuzzling her face against him.

"Let's go inside and talk first!" Yin quickly said, and took his wife and children back with him.

The group entered the hall, where Qingyan watched as Songkelierha and Hutulifengsheng Zhalafen, the authors, were reading the storybooks that Qingyan had specially designed.

"Father, Mother, you're back?" Hutulifengshengzhalafen looked at Yin and Qingyan and immediately became happy.

She jumped off the chaise lounge, stepped onto the multi-layered soles, and ran towards Yin and Qingyan.

"Little darling, your sister-in-law will stay with the children, while your brother and I will go to the study!" Yin gave a few instructions before heading to the study next door.

There are two separate courtyards with three gates in the mountain. The two families can live here. In addition, there are Yinxiang and Yinren, so there are definitely enough houses.

"Sister-in-law, everything will be alright!" Qingyan sat on the chaise longue by the window, and could still hear the sounds outside. The sounds of the drum hitting the bamboo grew louder.

"Little darling, how is Tenth Sister-in-law?" Yin Genjue Luo Shi had heard that she hadn't received any news from Tenth Princess Consort for a long time, so she couldn't help but worry.

"Sister-in-law, no news is good news!" Qingyan advised Yin Genjueluo.

News travels very slowly at sea, and only a few days have passed, yet there's been no news at all.

"If something truly unfortunate happens, news should still arrive. There's a final communication device on the ship; it will be sent at the most dangerous moment," Qingyan said tactfully.

However, this device is unlikely to be used unless absolutely necessary.

Yin Genjue Luo understood what Qing Yan meant.

"Luckily we prepared in advance, otherwise, in this kind of weather, it would have been a real problem!" Seeing that it was starting to rain, everyone in the camp had hurried up the mountain and moved into the shelters around the villa.

"Sister-in-law, this is a natural disaster, so we can only do our best and leave the rest to fate," Qingyan said helplessly.

A bitter smile appeared on Qingyan's face. The situation inside the naval port was relatively stable. It was said that people in the nearby port had already started robbing wealthy families.

The guards surrounded the courtyard, and anyone who approached it was arrested and interrogated.

"Well, things have come to this point, so we can only do our best to make arrangements. Hopefully, Yin and the others can return as soon as possible." Yin Genjue Luo held Songkelierha in her arms. Duoxihun and Hafenga were asleep in the cradle, as if the arguing outside could not wake them.

Qingyan looked out the window with concern. The weather was getting worse, and the rain was getting heavier. In the distance, the houses and bamboo that were being swept into the waves looked dangerous.

“Little darling, let’s wait until the weather is better before we go out. It would be bad for the children.” Yingenjueluo took a sip of tea. “Also, let’s take this opportunity to find a few spies in the courtyard.”

Yin walked in from outside, followed by the other two brothers. They were very happy to hear news of Yin today.

"Fourth Brother, you're in a great mood today!" Qingyan quickly came out to greet him, and seeing the grin on Yin's face, she felt much better too.

"There's news about the tenth brother. He's finally escaped and is drifting at sea!" Although Yin knew that he must have gone through a lot of risks, he didn't report the bad news because he probably didn't want his brothers to worry.

"Really?!" Yin Genjueluo smiled. Yin had worried about him quite a bit.

Yin nodded, sat down next to Qingyan, and took a sip of tea.

“We’ve made all the arrangements, but the neighboring counties are also facing a lot of problems,” Yin said worriedly. “The secret report has arrived; it’ll probably ask us to assist with disaster relief.”

"Sigh," Qingyan sighed, "The relief supplies must be transported from the capital before we can begin the relief efforts!"

She wouldn't budge. The disaster relief funds were only transported from the Yuelai Inn because the shortage was relatively small. For nearly ten months afterward, the innkeeper in the capital kept negotiating the amount of money with the Imperial Household Department. In the end, only two-thirds of the disaster relief funds were returned.

“Alright, I’ll let you know in advance!” Yin said directly. “The secret report was sent to the capital before the disaster relief efforts began.”

Qingyan breathed a sigh of relief: "That's good. The previous incident strained the business of Yuelai Inn for several months, so the managers won't allow Yuelai Inn to do such disaster relief again!"

Both Yin and Yin understood that Qingyan was merely using the managers as an excuse; in reality, it was a way to silence Yin.
