The carriage moved slowly, and as soon as it left the commercial street, it attracted the attention of many people.
"Fourth Brother, our carriage is too conspicuous!" Qingyan pouted, pondering how to avoid the gazes of the common people. If it weren't for the servants diverting attention after they left the mansion, they would probably have been surrounded by onlookers.
"It's not that it's too conspicuous, but there are too many guards around me. For safety reasons, I had no choice but to resort to this tactic." Yin was getting a headache from these people. Kangxi always said that water can capsize a boat, and he remembered this very well.
In his previous life, he did many good things for the people, and many families erected longevity tablets for him. However, he offended many court officials, and his reputation was completely ruined in the history of the Qing Dynasty. Even his own son, for the sake of his reputation, confiscated the books he had written, which led people to fabricate stories about him as a tyrant.
“Fourth…” Qingyan called to him softly.
He turned his head and looked at the little girl's helpless appearance, feeling very worried.
"I'm fine!" Yin patted her head. "Let's go to the small commercial street outside the county town. There shouldn't be any cleaning up there!"
Emperor Kangxi sent his princes on a trip. On the one hand, he needed the most accurate information, and Yinzhi and Yinzhi were the most trustworthy candidates.
Yin had deep ties with the officials in Jiangnan, and Yin Zhi was too easy to bribe. After leaving the capital, she excluded these two men.
"What are we going to see?" Qingyan asked.
After they were alone, Yin acted strangely. His previously aloof demeanor reappeared, and he even spoke less than he had at the beginning.
Yin looked out the window. The road was uneven and not paved with yellow earth, nor was it cleaned up. This was the environment in which the people lived.
"Sisi, is this what ordinary people's lives are like?" Qingyan looked out the window and suddenly understood the situation. She felt a pang of sadness. Even basic cleanliness could not be guaranteed.
The piles of goods on both sides were nothing like the clean and tidy commercial street we had just visited. Perhaps that was just a facade project for the county town; the real splendor was like this.
She had to admit that if they hadn't come out, they would have been kept in the dark by this facade project, and even if Kangxi had stayed here, he wouldn't have been able to stay for long.
The women would be taken directly to the commercial street when they went shopping. Seeing the clean streets, they would definitely whisper sweet nothings in their husbands' ears.
"It should be!" Yin's eyes were icy as he looked out the window at the increasingly dirty and chaotic streets. He had lost all confidence in taking Xiao Guai there.
"Su Peisheng, go back!" Yin Bing commanded coldly.
"Yes, Your Majesty!" Su Peisheng quickly drove the carriage back. "Master, are we not going to leave the city?"
"Um."
Yin hugged Xiao Guai even tighter. When he was in a bad mood, she was the best way to calm him down. Every time she was by his side, he could calm down quickly. It was as if he could handle things with exceptional composure when she was around.
The unpredictable comments that Emperor Kangxi once gave him never appeared on his life.
"Sisi, don't be angry!" Qingyan frowned. When he was angry, his eyes were so frightening that it made you want to run away as soon as possible.
Yin took two deep breaths and finally calmed himself down.
Seeing Qingyan's panicked expression, he felt a pang of heartache. He couldn't be so cautious with his little one. He gently pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead; he had really worried the little one.
"Sisi, don't be angry!" Qingyan put her two little paws on either side of her cheeks. "Look at me!"
Qingyan is being adorable!
Pfft!
Yin smiled slightly; the worry in her eyes made him happy, and she slowly felt at ease inside.
"Alright, you silly girl." Yin hugged her small body tightly, leaned against the back of the carriage, and patted her. "I'm not angry!"
It's really not worth getting angry over outsiders.
The scenery outside the window became clean and tidy again; they had finally returned to the county town.
"Fourth Prince, let the servants buy everything we need. We can just stay in the mansion until we leave." Qingyan pouted, determined not to go out again.
She felt completely powerless, as if every part of her body was uncomfortable, and the probing gazes of the people made her uneasy.
"good!"
Once the carriage returned to the mansion, Yin instructed Su Peisheng and the servants to go and buy the goods themselves. Having found the reason for the closed doors and windows, Yin had no interest in taking any more risks.
Qingyan helped Sulan back first. She sat in the seat of honor, slurping her tea angrily. In the carriage, Yin had clearly taken his anger out on her.
"Little darling, I've had someone book the best restaurant in the county. Let's do as the locals do and try some local cuisine." Yin looked at Qingyan pleadingly, his anger slowly turning into what it was now.
Qingyan snorted and turned to look out the window.
Yin got up and poured Qingyan a cup of honey tea, placing it in front of her.
From a young age, Qingyan was always pampered, and very few people would hold a grudge against her.
He was wrong!
"I forgive you this time!" Yin's deep voice had always been Qingyan's most fatal weakness; the power of his deep voice was irresistible.
The little figure in her heart is holding a handkerchief and crying.
"good!"
Yin leaned against Qingyan and sat down, his right hand on the armrest. He looked at the busy servants outside and pondered what kind of surprise he should give her so that Xiaoguai would behave herself.
"Little darling, we can rest tomorrow!" Yin relaxed. That night, he would write a memorial to tell his father about the situation here. The county magistrate here absolutely could not be used anymore; he was clearly disobeying orders behind the scenes.
