Chapter 503 Kangxi Wants People

As soon as the rumors spread, Shenyang City was thrown into chaos. Many of the wives of the princes from beyond the pass had not had a legitimate son for many years, and some even wanted Qingyan to arrange for the managers to help regulate the situation.

When Emperor Kangxi heard about this situation, he specially summoned Yinzhi and Qingyan to the imperial palace. He sat in the high seat and, looking at Yinzhi's worried expression, burst into laughter.

After paying his respects to his father, Emperor Yin, he saw Emperor Kangxi's cold indifference and sighed helplessly.

"Go ahead and kowtow, I'm sorry to trouble you!" Kangxi said directly.

Yin's mood became very bad. If he made things difficult for them, Qingyan didn't dare to go out for the past few days, for fear of being dragged away by those wives from beyond the Great Wall.

"Father, your daughter-in-law is at fault!" Qingyan felt that she had not handled the matter well at all.

If the information hadn't been leaked, this situation probably wouldn't have happened.

"Little darling, you did very well!" Consort Tong glared at Emperor Kangxi, then praised Qingyan for her sullen face.

Upon hearing this, Qingyan was not only stunned, but also...

"Mother, what's wrong?" Qingyan looked at Consort Tong with a puzzled expression.

"The princes understand why you were brought in this time." Kangxi was helping Yinzhen resolve the matter.

"Thank you, Father Emperor!" Yin quickly expressed his gratitude.

Kangxi took all the blame upon himself, and Qingyan followed Yin's lead.

"Get up." Kangxi had to admit that the servants managed by Qingyan were all excellent.

Yin spoke the truth, and after taking over the Minsheng Pharmacy from the Imperial Household Department, he dealt ruthlessly with the people arranged by Qingyan.

Kangxi's face was extremely gloomy: "Those servants have all driven the people away?"

Recently, the Ministry of the Interior has been reporting that the Minsheng Pharmacy is not doing well, saying that Qingyan opened a medicinal cuisine shop, which is why it has fallen into such a predicament.

"Yes, they've all been driven away. They've all been replaced by people hired by the Imperial Household Department, and the 'medicinal' herbs they're using are no longer the ones Qingyan had agreed upon!" Yin said directly, at least to prevent Qingyan from taking the blame.

Emperor Kangxi was stunned. He never expected that the people of the Imperial Household Department would dare to outwardly comply but inwardly defy him.

"Are you sure?!" Kangxi asked, looking at Yin.

"Father, the Minsheng Pharmacy is registered under Qingyan's dowry. Letting the Imperial Household Department take over has made many people feel that the royal family is being unfair. Now that the Imperial Household Department is not doing a good job, they want Qingyan to come up with a solution?" Yin was furious. Is this how business is conducted?

Qingyan followed behind Yin without saying another word.

At this point, Yin was fully able to speak on behalf of Qingyan. After listening to Yin's complaints, Consort Tong also felt that Kangxi's actions were somewhat unfair.

"Alright, you two, sit down first," Consort Tong said, gesturing to the seats beside her. "Little darling, are all the managers of the Yue Lai Inn employees of the Minsheng Pharmacy?"

As soon as everyone was seated at the banquet, Consort Tong asked the question directly, which surprised her slightly.

“Not all of them are. Two-thirds of the shopkeepers are actually doctors at Minsheng Pharmacy!” Qingyan said truthfully.

After hearing Qingyan's words, Emperor Kangxi and his son Yinzhen's expressions darkened even further.

"Two-thirds," Kangxi muttered to himself.

"Are these people still willing to return to work at the Minsheng Pharmacy?" Kangxi asked first.

Qingyan smiled and shook her head in refusal: "None of these people want to go back!"

Yin listened, his ears twitching. Hearing Qingyan's firm refusal, he felt slightly relieved.

He glanced at Kangxi out of the corner of his eye and noticed that Kangxi did not blame Qingyan, which reassured him slightly.

"Fourth Prince, accompany Qingyan to persuade him to return to his post!" Kangxi instructed Yinzhi.

"Father, I dare not take on this responsibility!" Yin quickly refused.

"Why?!" Kangxi asked.

"Father, these people are very stubborn. They were all driven out of the People's Pharmacy, so of course they won't come back!" Yin said directly.

Emperor Kangxi and Consort Tong exchanged a glance. If Yinzhen said that, it must be true.

"Little darling, could you please tell me?" Consort Tong understood perfectly, "The People's Pharmacy desperately needs these people!"

Qingyan stared at Consort Tong: "Mother, I can't say much. These people were chosen by Father and Fourth Prince, so they should all be loyal."

"Mother, let me try to persuade her. Qingyan definitely can't be persuaded." Yin stopped Qingyan.

After hearing Kangxi's arrangement, the two were directly asked to go to the Yuelai Inn. In the carriage, Qingyan leaned on Yin's shoulder and gazed out the window.

Emperor Kangxi and Consort Tong surprisingly agreed that the shopkeepers should return to work at the People's Pharmacy.

"Fourth Brother, what should we do if those people refuse?" Qingyan asked Yin.

Yin pondered for a moment and said, "Go back and talk to Father and Mother. After all, it was the servants of the Imperial Household Department who committed the sins. We can only do our best and leave the rest to fate. We don't necessarily have to force these people to do their best!"

Before leaving, Kangxi hinted to Yin that he didn't need to force himself too much.

"Really?!" Qingyan looked at Yin with suspicion.

"Yes, Father Emperor gave a hint, but you little rascal didn't hear it," Yin said directly.

Qingyan pouted slightly, looking unhappy: "I didn't have time to think about these things at all. I was just thinking about how to explain to these people. Although, a servant must obey the orders of his masters, if he does it unwillingly, he will definitely dawdle!"

Outsiders say that the servants under Qingyan's management are all highly efficient. In fact, Qingyan requires these servants to work willingly. If anyone is unwilling, she will reassign them to other jobs or even fire them.

"Okay, you're right, let's go take a look!" Yin had no hope left.

Previously, Yin had chatted with these people and hinted that they should return to Minsheng Pharmacy, but they all refused. They even said that they hoped to do something at Yuelai Inn.

"Fourth Master, shall we go over there and just say it?" Qingyan looked at the ceiling. She had never forced a servant to do anything like that before.

Yin was speechless. Qingyan was being too accommodating. Although the rules were very strict, outside of those rules, she genuinely treated these servants as her own people.

"Of course, didn't we say we should be realistic!" Yin thought Qingyan was right. If we were realistic, the servants would consider things very thoroughly.

As the two were discussing, the carriage slowly came to a stop in front of the Yuelai Inn, and the two got off the carriage one after the other.

Today, there are very few guests in the inn, and it's not mealtime, so the lobby is very quiet.

When the shopkeeper heard that Yin and Qingyan had arrived, he quickly came out to greet them and stood at the door to welcome them.

"This servant greets his master!" The innkeeper entered the private room and quickly bowed to the two men. He then reported this to the higher-ups.
