Chapter 508 Personally Taking Care of Hafeng

The next morning, someone from the imperial palace came again, saying that Emperor Kangxi had summoned the twins. Qingyan personally escorted the two onto the carriage to the palace, and she stood at the window with Hafenga in her arms.

At this moment, Hafenga was already able to speak. Seeing that his mother's gaze was not on him, he very dissatisfiedly reached out his chubby little paw and slapped Qingyan's face.

Awooooo!

Hafenga's shout brought Qingyan back to her senses.

"Hafeng, are you jealous?" Qingyan kissed the chubby boy's cheek and said with a smile in her starry eyes.

A while ago, Hafenga finally learned to sit up, and Qingyan often made the little guy stand up.

While she was busy, Suzhu and the head nanny became the main force in looking after the children.

"It's rare for your mother to have the chance to spend time with you. If you throw a tantrum, your mother will have to hand you over to the nannies!" Qingyan held the chubby little boy who was moving around, and patted his chubby bottom with her right hand.

At the mansion, the two children have grown up and no longer need their mother's company. They have entered the second stage, and now the little one in their arms can still keep them company.

"Goose, goose, goose," Hafenga could only utter a single syllable. Seeing the little guy trying to call his mother, and making such a sound, he couldn't help but laugh.

"You brat, it's your mother," Qingyan said, looking into Hafeng's dark eyes as she taught him again and again.

Qingyan taught the children to speak by following their words, unlike other sisters-in-law who would teach their children to call their fathers "Grandfather" or "Father" first. Her approach was considered the best by Emperor Kangxi and Yinzhen.

She wouldn't ask the children for anything. Hafenga was used to sleeping in, so Qingyan would let the little guy go according to his own habits.

Every day, she would read to the little guy, and he would clap his little hands and cooperate with his mother.

“Let’s have some breakfast first, and then Mother will continue to tell you stories, okay?” Qingyan said to Hafeng’a.

Recently, Qingyan has been telling stories from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, using simple and easy-to-understand anecdotes for each chapter. Hafeng'a is captivated by the storylines and often insists on listening.

She used the computer in the space to translate short stories from Romance of the Three Kingdoms into traditional Chinese characters and printed them out.

Ahhh!

Hafeng clapped his hands even more enthusiastically when he heard that a story was going to be told. In the palace, he was not allowed to listen to these little stories. Every time the time was up, Hafeng would throw a tantrum.

After receiving the benefits, Hafenga ate breakfast very quietly, allowing Qingyan to have a peaceful breakfast.

Su Lan and Su Zhu watched the mother and son eat, and they were both surprised. Ha Feng A rarely kept quiet, and every time he read, he would get covered in dirt.

"Young master has finished eating, this servant will go and change his clothes!" Even the head nanny was shocked. Seeing that Hafeng had finished eating, she prepared to take him away.

Hafeng looked at Qingyan with a wronged expression, and put his little hand on her, hoping that his mother would stay with him.

"Granny, bring Hafeng'a's clothes over. I'll change him in a bit." Qingyan took a silk handkerchief and wiped Hafeng'a's little hands.

"You sit here quietly, and after your mother finishes eating, I'll tell you a story!" Qingyan promised.

Hafon smiled happily, looking at her pink gums and seeing her white baby teeth peeking out, which she found quite amusing.

"Stop drooling!" Qingyan had just placed two silk handkerchiefs under his collar, but they were quickly soaked with his drool.

Hafeng ignored him completely and continued to look at his mother's rice bowl.

Qingyan quickly finished her breakfast, then picked up Hafeng and went straight to the study. There, she changed him into clean clothes, placed him between three cushions, took out Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and began to tell the story to the little guy.

Around noon, Yin walked in from outside. As soon as he entered the study, he saw Qingyan and Hafeng'a, one talking and the other listening with wide eyes.

"Sisi, you're back? Continue telling your son!" Qingyan said, her throat dry.

Seeing that a book had been tucked into his arms, Yin had no choice but to continue cooling his son down.

He opened the book and found that Romance of the Three Kingdoms was written as a series of simple and easy-to-understand short stories, making it easier to comprehend than those difficult books.

Yin knew in his heart that Yiken'e must have read the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

"Little darling, this book is good. You managed to translate all of this!" Yin looked at the little guy, who had closed his eyes in a daze, still holding the teething toy that Qingyan had given him in his left hand.

"Of course, these are all books that Yiken has read!" Qingyan specially translated the Four Books and Five Classics, as well as some books that Yiken needed to memorize, into short stories to make it easier for him to memorize them.

Yin nodded. No wonder Yiken could recite the whole story so clearly. These little stories are really easy to understand.

"This is quite good. The Four Books and Five Classics have been turned into short stories?" Yin asked, looking at Qingyan.

"Of course." Qingyan gently covered Hafeng with the blanket and had Suzhu carry Hafeng back to his room.

She sat with Yin on the chaise longue, watching him flip through the pages of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

“This is simple and easy to understand, which is a good thing for children,” Yin commented. “However, the short stories from the Four Books and Five Classics are fine for the children to use!”

"What's wrong?" Qingyan asked curiously.

"At the very least, while Father Emperor is still alive, this matter must not be spread!" Yin also had his own ideas, all of which could benefit the world.

At this moment, Yin pondered that if he were to prepare such stories as enlightenment teaching materials for the scholars under his rule, it would be a truly meritorious act.

"Alright!" Qingyan nodded. These were all prepared in her own space, so there was no chance of anything being exposed.

"The little guy can eat breakfast quietly now?" Yin couldn't believe it when he heard it from the head nanny.

He had eaten with Hafenga, that brat who could make a complete mess of things.

“Yes, I told him that if he eats breakfast quietly, I'll read him stories for an extra half hour!” Qingyan said directly.

Seeing her pleading expression, Yin half-stood up and placed a kiss on her cheek.

"Little darling, what you did was wonderful!" Yin thought Qingyan was a good mother. In the palace, it was rare to see the concubines so close to their children.

Even if the concubines valued the princes highly, they would still focus most of their attention on Emperor Kangxi. Therefore, the princes were unaware of how much a mother could sacrifice for her children.

"Hehe, I'm already very satisfied as long as I can keep this little guy quiet." Qingyan finally understood the importance of taking care of children; she even had helpers by her side.
