A few days later, the gates of the capital came into view. At the city gate, court officials knelt to greet her. After entering the city gate, she found that yellow curtains were drawn on both sides of the street, and the road in the middle was paved with yellow earth.
At dawn, Prince Yin and his wife, Princess Qing, dressed in their court robes. She sat dignifiedly in the carriage, while Yin and the other princes rode into the city on horseback.
"Your Majesty, we must first enter the palace and pay our respects to the Empress Dowager before returning to our residence." Su Lan obeyed Yin's order, making sure to explain the process to the Fujin before entering the palace, otherwise the Fujin would surely forget.
Qingyan nodded, still in a ghostly state.
After resting in the carriage for several days in a row, even though Yin had become her mattress, she was still sore all over. She looked forward to entering the manor as soon as possible.
Half an hour later, the carriage stopped. Su Lan, dressed in a lake-blue palace maid's gown, got out first, while Qing Yan, wearing three-inch-high flowerpot shoes, finally got on the horse stool. She felt that if Su Lan hadn't been there to support her, she might have really made a fool of herself!
"Sulan, slow down!" Qingyan sighed helplessly at her small frame. These days she was always running around in riding boots and flowerpot shoes, and she felt very tired.
Su Lan slowed her pace. When Yingen Jue Luo Shi caught a glimpse of Qing Yan's leisurely manner, she understood what was going on and, instead, she and Songkelierha lagged behind.
Ahead were Dong Eshi and Gegenhas, the two of them chatting animatedly. Dong Eshi was plotting how to humiliate Guarjia Shi, so that he would be happy.
"You see, the Crown Princess isn't someone to be trifled with!" Yin Genjueluo and Dong E were at odds, and now, she would seize any opportunity to ridicule Dong E. Xiao Guai smiled and indicated that she would not participate in the sisters-in-law's fighting.
"No, that dark cloud has passed?" Qingyan always joked about the Third Prince's name. Yingenjueluo laughed. The little girl was really too mischievous.
Yin Genjue Luo shook her head. They were too close to Yin Zhi's tent, and the sounds of the couple arguing often reached her ears.
In fact, the women in the inner court only have a few tricks up their sleeves. Yinzhi is easily influenced, and Wuyun is clearly someone the family has carefully cultivated. The Dong E clan has paid too much, and they have doubts about some of Consort Dong E's actions. Consort Dong E did not use her beauty to serve men.
"This servant greets the wife of the Prince Zhi, the wife of the Fourth Prince, and the eldest princess!" Su Mo'er waited outside, following the Empress Dowager's instructions.
"Granny, please rise quickly. We went to Jiangnan, but the Empress Dowager and you returned to the palace. I've taken quite a few things with me!" Qingyan smiled. The Empress Dowager and Su Mo'er took good care of her. Whenever she left the palace, Qingyan would give her a small gift as a token of her filial piety.
"Alright, thank you, Fourth Princess Consort!" Su Mo'er readily accepted.
"Granny, you can't be biased. You've accepted what your sister-in-law gave you, so you must accept mine too!" Yin Genjue Luo Shi and Qing Yan were separated, and she also started buying things in the same way as Qing Yan.
Sure enough, the things they bought themselves were much cheaper than what the servants bought, which aroused Yin Genjue Luo's desire to buy things. She planned to go shopping in the capital frequently.
"Alright, alright, my two consorts, please come in quickly. The Empress Dowager has been thinking of you all." Su Mo'er knew that the Empress Dowager genuinely wanted to change the subject. After all, Yin Genjue Luo Shi and Qing Yan had a real affection for each other and treated the Empress Dowager as an elder, unlike the Crown Princess who always had a distance between them.
As the group entered the hall, the Empress Dowager's stern face instantly changed, and a smile bloomed on her lips. The Crown Princess and the Third Prince's wife felt particularly awkward watching this.
"Granddaughter-in-law greets Imperial Grandmother." Yin Genjueluo Shi greeted Qingyan with a smile on her face.
Qingyan smiled and watched as the Empress Dowager beckoned to her and Songkelierha to come to her side.
"Anguma Mama!" Songkri Yierha was embraced by the Empress Dowager.
"Hmm, my little maids." The Empress Dowager looked at the two maids. "My darlings, how about going to Jiangnan?"
Qingyan nodded, but the Third Princess Consort was in a bad mood.
Gegenhas and Wuyun came with the Crown Princess and Dong Eshi. The Empress Dowager's good mood was ruined when she discovered the two Mongolian concubines.
Before the Empress Dowager passed away, she specifically instructed the Empress Dowager not to let any more Mongolian noblewomen enter the palace, as they looked like eagles with broken wings.
"Grandma, the Crown Prince and the Third Prince have brought back two sisters, who can keep you company and make you laugh!" Guarjia felt a pang of jealousy. The woman the Crown Prince brought back was immediately a concubine, and it was said that she was closely related to the Empress Dowager by blood.
Originally, the Crown Princess wanted to use the relationship between the concubine and the Empress Dowager to get closer to the Empress Dowager.
Early in the morning, the Crown Princess was the first to come in to pay her respects. To her surprise, the Empress Dowager not only had no connection with the concubine, but had become increasingly distant from her.
"Greetings to the Empress Dowager!" After being trained by the nannies, Gegenhas was very proper in her bowing.
Wuyun, on the other hand, possessed the domineering air of a Mongolian noblewoman.
"Hmm!" The Empress Dowager nodded, indicating that she understood. "Did you go to serve tea to the Emperor and Consort Tong?"
The Crown Princess shook her head. Consort Tong sent someone to tell her that she had just returned to the capital and had a lot of things to deal with, so she didn't have time to have the concubine serve tea.
"You want me to stand up for you?" The Empress Dowager didn't even give the Crown Princess any face and asked directly.
Qingyan quickly stepped forward and poured the Empress Dowager a cup of warm tea. When the Empress Dowager was angry, it would affect her health. Often, when someone brought her a cup of warm tea, it could temporarily distract her.
"Your granddaughter-in-law wouldn't dare!" The Crown Princess only hoped that the Empress Dowager would say something to Consort Tong. At the very least, the fact that the concubine of Yuqing Palace hadn't served tea made her an awkward figure.
