Chapter 521 Encountering Mountain Bandits on the Return Journey

As they approached the capital, Yin noticed that there were even more guards around him. He nudged Qingyan, who was resting nearby, and just as she was about to speak, Yin gestured for her to be quiet.

"Fourth Prince, what's wrong?" Qingyan got up, leaned on Yin's shoulder, and asked directly.

Yin pointed out the window, and she looked out in the direction he was pointing. She was very curious as to why there were so many more guards outside the carriage in just one night.

"Was it sent by Father Emperor?" A hint of seriousness appeared on Qingyan's face.

"It should be, but I think it's not bad at all!" Yin sneered. "It seems that those people are preparing to unleash their ultimate move, and Kangxi will definitely be on guard."

Qingyan felt a little uneasy as she listened to Yin's words; the journey had not been peaceful.

While outside the Great Wall, they encountered many problems. Fortunately, Emperor Kangxi ordered that they travel every day instead of resting as usual.

Some of the people who made the arrangements missed their chance to act, which greatly angered their masters.

"Little darling, our itinerary is different from usual, so those people didn't succeed." Yin smiled wryly.

Qingyan leaned on his shoulder, looking at the scenery outside the window.

"Fourth Prince, I think Father Emperor must have a plan. The fact that we're so calm and collected makes outsiders think we don't know anything, which is why those people are so reckless," Qingyan asked Yin.

Yin nodded. In another day, they would enter the capital city area, and they would be safer.

"Little darling, take a rest first." Yin pulled the blanket up, letting Qingyan rest a little longer. They had encountered quite a few problems along the way, and sometimes they even encountered obstacles set up for them.

Not long after, Su Peisheng reported from outside the carriage: "Your Majesty, there are checkpoints set up outside again, and His Majesty's imperial carriage has already taken a detour, and the young masters' carriages have also left with the imperial procession."

Qingyan heard the commotion outside the carriage, opened her eyes, and looked at Yin.

"Someone's coming! The children have all left with Father Emperor!" Yin was driving at the front, and the carriage was surrounded in front of him. Yin was in the third position and could hear the voices of the people in front of him.

Qingyan sat up instantly, watching as the guards outside gathered around the carriage, brandishing all their weapons.

"Si Si, look at those people around us. They seem to be ordinary people, but their faces are quite fierce!" Qing Yan noticed through the gaps between the horses that there were quite a few people disguised as local people, and their faces had a menacing look.

“These people are indeed ruthless!” Yin pondered for a moment. “There are some bandits in the surrounding area, and many caravans here are likely to be robbed.”

Qingyan shuddered upon hearing Yin's words. This was the first time she had ever seen someone who ruled over a mountain.

"Eru, go and take a look first. If you need help, bring people to assist immediately!" Yin instructed directly from across the carriage.

“!” Erlu readily agreed.

Yin lowered both windows, preventing people outside from seeing inside the carriage.

"Fourth Brother, we've only sent Erlu. Is that enough?" Qingyan felt that if Erlu went alone, and something happened ahead, sending more people would be enough to hold them off for a while.

"That's enough, Yinzhi will send someone!" Yinzhi tapped the table with his right index finger, listening intently to the sounds outside.

Outside the carriage, Yinzhi's personal guards gathered at the front. Yinzhi sent Yingenjueluo Shi behind the screen, and the carriage curtain was lifted. He was dressed in a golden casual robe and sat upright on the cushion, looking out with a nonchalant expression.

"What's going on? Even returning to the capital is so difficult?" Yin sneered.

Last night, Emperor Kangxi gave prior instructions that if they encountered similar robbers, they should not show any mercy, as these were nothing more than lackeys of those people.

"Hehe, we should talk things out properly. You have a large and powerful family business, so it wouldn't be good if there were any conflicts." The man opposite him had a very wicked look on his face. Yin was not in a hurry at all and slowly drank his Lu'an Melon Seed tea.

The people opposite didn't recognize the princes' court robes. Seeing that Yin was wearing a golden-yellow robe, they thought he was the crown prince.

"Brothers, it looks like we've caught a big fish! Cheer up, get ready to haul in the net!" The mountain king chuckled.

His words caused the bandits disguised as commoners around him to cheer. Qingyan listened to the noise and thought these people were nothing more than a bunch of brutes.

"Wait!" Yin listened to the cheers of the people and immediately sensed that something was wrong.

"What's wrong?" Qingyan turned to look at him, puzzled.

"These people aren't bandits, they're just disguised as them," Yin quickly explained. "Su Peisheng, go ahead and tell my brother that these people are likely well-trained soldiers, and that he must be careful!"

Upon hearing Yin's instructions, Su Peisheng hurried toward the carriage ahead.

As they passed Yinzhi's carriage, Yinzhi was still listening to Dong'e Gege reading from her book. Su Peisheng felt a little strange. They were both princes, so why wasn't this one worried at all?

"Su Peisheng, come in and report." Su Peisheng appeared in Yin's field of vision, and he quickly found him and made him lower his voice to report.

Su Peisheng glanced at Yin, then quickly turned his body away, his back to the other man, the mountain bandit.

"My master said that these people should be well-trained soldiers, and that you must be careful!" Su Peisheng said in a low voice.

Upon hearing this, Yin's heart skipped a beat. The surrounding guards also noticed that these people were all armed.

"Have the fourth prince in the carriage and tell him that Father Emperor has deployed the elite firearms battalion on the outskirts!" Yin felt a warmth in his heart upon hearing the fourth prince's reminder.

Su Peisheng quickly agreed and returned to Yin to report.

Qingyan felt relieved after hearing this. She watched as Su Peisheng left the carriage and took out two small pistols for self-defense.

"Fourth Brother, are we here prepared by those people in the south?" If those who oppose the Qing and restore the Ming had this kind of quality, they would have trouble every time they went to the south of the Yangtze River.

Hehe!

Yin smiled sarcastically. Qingyan thought highly of these people. Kangxi said that they were just doing it for the Crown Prince, but in reality, they were protecting him from disaster.

"My little darling, what Father Emperor says might be somewhat contradictory!" Yin said, patting Qingyan's little hand.

Emperor Kangxi truly went to great lengths to ensure the stability of the Qing Dynasty.

Those words deceived Qingyan and the other women and common people, but for Yin and his men, they were nothing more than a smokescreen.
