As dawn broke, the Yuelai Inn came alive. Each prince's courtyard became lively as servants began tidying up or preparing various foods.
As they were preparing for breakfast, Yin carried Hafeng'a and Qingyan out together, leaving everyone in shock as they stared at Hafeng'a.
"Fourth brother, when did Hafeng arrive?" Yin looked at Hafeng and found it very strange.
"Mother sent the head nanny over yesterday, but the little guy was causing trouble again, giving Mother a headache!" Yin didn't mind; Hafeng didn't like having nannies around to serve him, as he would often make a fuss.
After speaking, Yin smiled. Hafeng'a's temperament was very compatible with that of the thirteenth and fourteenth princes. Whenever the two of them went to Consort Tong's place, the first thing they would ask was whether Hafeng'a was there.
"Fourth Brother, let's take care of Hafeng, shall we?" Yinxiang and Yin exchanged a glance and made the request directly.
"No way!" Yin objected. "Hafeng'a did something wrong and is being punished. If he runs into the two of you, all he does is play around!"
Yin insisted on Yinxiang and Yin's opinion. The princes listened to Yin's words and then looked at the bewildered Hafeng in his arms.
"Fourth son, Hafeng is still young. We'll teach him slowly when he's older and more sensible. Don't push him too hard now. What boy isn't mischievous at this age?" Yinzhi couldn't stand it anymore. Yinzhi's expectations for his sons were too high.
"Hmph, you can't say that now," Yin sneered. "Boys need to be taught from a young age!"
Yinzhi was speechless. Among the princes, Yinzhi had more sons than others, so he was even stricter with them.
"Fourth sister-in-law, aren't you going to try to persuade the fourth brother?" Yin Zhi could only focus his attention on Qing Yan, since Ha Feng'a was at least Qing Yan's son.
"No need. Before the children were born, Si Si told me that I would teach the girls and he would teach the boys!" Qing Yan shook her head. The two of them were doing this for the good of their children's future.
Yinzhi was taken aback. Inside the mansion, the women kept a close eye on the children. If he scolded them too harshly, the women would make excuses for the children to appease Yinzhi.
“Sister-in-law is right. It is not good for boys to grow up under the tutelage of women.” Yinqi agreed. “I was raised in the Empress Dowager’s Cining Palace, but didn’t I also start being taught by Father Emperor after I turned six?”
As soon as the words were spoken, the hall fell silent. The princes all quieted down, determined not to say anything more, especially since it concerned who was above them.
"Fifth brother, there's no need to dwell on the past," Yin interrupted Yinqi.
Yin Zhi's expression turned somewhat unpleasant; everyone had come for him.
"Brother, why don't you think carefully about how we can safely reach Jiangnan!" Yin Zhi objected directly.
"You don't need to worry about that!" Yin sneered.
Yinzhi was just a scholar, and he was always the first to run away whenever danger came his way. The guards he brought with him were no different; under Yinzhi's instigation, they basically did not follow the rules.
That day, when they encountered bandits, all the guards huddled together, ready to fight back. Only Yinzhi's guards remained around Yinzhi's carriage, quietly waiting to break through.
“Brother, you’re wrong. Your guards are all very skilled in combat, but mine are not. Since they came to the manor, they’ve only been protecting me!” Yin Zhi retorted.
No one continued the topic, and Yin Zhi's answer was left unanswered.
"Sister-in-law, how many days are we going to stay here?" Qingyan asked curiously.
“Master said it will take at least five days!” Yin Genjue Luo Shi replied.
Qingyan calculated that with everyone's high consumption over five days, the supplies would probably not be enough.
"From today onwards, we will have breakfast and dinner together, and lunch can be whatever we want," Yin said after thinking about it all night.
The brothers were not united, and if it were only Yin, he wouldn't care.
"Then thank you, elder brother," Yin Zhi replied immediately after hearing Yin's arrangement.
Nobody wanted to go out. After all, they were unfamiliar with the county and it would be very troublesome if they were targeted.
"Third brother, you'd better behave yourself. I don't want all of us brothers to be in danger because of you!" Yin glared angrily at Yin Zhi.
Of all the brothers present, no one but him could suppress Yin Zhi in terms of rank.
The breakfast ended unhappily, and the brothers, realizing they couldn't persuade Yinzhi, had no choice but to give up.
Yinzhi could only send more imperial guards to protect him. Kangxi also sent these people to keep an eye on the princes and prevent them from disrupting the plan.
"Big brother, what if you let Third Brother run rampant and cause trouble in the end?" Yinqi asked.
"We can only let those people report to Father Emperor. I can't say anything myself. Let them tell Father Emperor!" Yin felt that his status could not suppress Yin Zhi.
"When shall we set off in five days?" Yin did not object to the arrangement.
Emperor Kangxi was like a powerful sword that could make Yinzhi behave. However, among his brothers, Yinzhi was the most pretentious, as if he was afraid that outsiders would not know that he was a prince.
Inside the convoy, except for the day they encountered danger when Yin wore his golden prince's robes, the princes wore ordinary clothes the rest of the time. Yin Zhi was an exception; he wore the imperial prince's robes every day, and also wore imperial robes when going out.
These obvious markings will be seen by those with ulterior motives, and they will be unable to persuade them, only able to watch helplessly.
"At the hour of Chou (1-3 AM)," Yin decided, leaving when it was late at night and all was quiet.
"Brother, it always has to be this early!" Yinxiang sighed helplessly. It would be better not to sleep at all before setting off and to sleep in the carriage after departure.
"Yes, let's leave at night. Yinzhi has been showing off outside these past few days. During the day, there will definitely be people watching him. The hour of Chou (1-3 AM) is when people are most sleepy, and those who are watching him will easily fall asleep!" Yinzhi had considered Yinzhi's personality before arranging the itinerary.
The other princes agreed, and they decided to rest there before setting off again. They would travel day and night to reunite with their father, the Emperor, as soon as possible.
"Alright, things have been discussed, everyone can go back and rest!" Yin was preparing to have a good rest with Yin Genjueluo, as the two of them had been the most nervous on the way.
"Yes!" Everyone left, but Yin and Qingyan did not move.
"What are you two doing now!" Yin glared angrily at Yin.
"Hehe, sister-in-law, do you want to look after Hafeng?" Yin wanted to take Qingyan out on the street, but there was no one to watch the child.
"Where are you going?" Yin Tai knew Yin Tai well; he was definitely going out.
