Chapter 537 Interrogation of Third Master

As dawn approached, Tulichen came down from the secret passage and invited Kangxi and the others to go up. The palace was now completely safe.

Everyone spent almost the entire night without sleep, each lost in their own thoughts.

In the hall, Yinzhi, Dong'e Chunpeng, and others were all bound with their hands behind their backs. Qingyan looked at the Third Princess Consort, whose eyes were bloodshot and whose face was full of sorrow.

"Third brother, why?" Yin asked sadly, looking at Yin Zhi. "We haven't treated you badly, have we?"

Yinzhi looked coldly at Yin. Now, he had given up all hope. Before, he still had a sliver of hope for Kangxi, but now, he had finally given up on that idea!

"Not stingy?!" Yin Zhi retorted sarcastically.

Yinzhi looked at Kangxi, his eyes filled with hatred.

"Father, why do you want to imprison your son?" Yinzhi asked.

The Third Princess kept her head down, while Princess Dong'e followed behind, like a wandering soul.

Everyone knew that Yin Zhi was definitely not going to have a good outcome this time; in fact, he might even be completely imprisoned.

"Isn't it just that unresolved matter? What man doesn't have a beloved concubine?" Yin Zhi sneered. Today, he really wanted to ask him what he had done wrong.

Yinzhi looked at Kangxi and said, "You used me as a pawn, directly blocking the Crown Prince. Were those women really prepared for me? It shouldn't be."

As soon as he finished speaking, Qingyan was stunned. Could it be that those ill-intentioned women were all after the Crown Prince?

"Alright, what else do you want to say? Attacking the emperor? I am your father, and those present are your brothers. You will not spare anyone, not even children as young as Hafenga and Duoxihun?" Kangxi shook his head helplessly.

Yinzhi really went too far, not even sparing two children who couldn't remember anything.

"Heh, why let them go? Your son is already sick all over. What did you say? You even forbade Imperial Physician Yuan from treating him anymore. Those two women are the Crown Prince's, aren't they? Your son wants to vent his anger, is that not allowed?" Yin Zhi was truly furious.

Dong E Chunpeng looked at Yin Zhi in astonishment. So, the Third Prince's plot to usurp the throne was all due to his dissatisfaction with Kangxi.

"Venting your anger? This is regicide." The Crown Prince stood up abruptly. "Father, I really don't know anything about those two maids."

Qingyan glanced at the Crown Prince, taking in the madness in his eyes.

"You two really are... Crown Prince, why did I send you out to investigate!" Kangxi held his teacup, took a sip of warm tea, but the cold feeling in his heart could not be warmed at all.

The Crown Prince's heart skipped a beat; Kangxi had indeed noticed.

"The memorials submitted by Yin and others are all about the results of their investigations. Only the memorials submitted by you, the third prince, and the eighth prince are about peace and prosperity!" Kangxi's thin lips parted slightly.

Upon hearing this, Yin Si quickly got up and knelt behind Yin Zhi.

"Reporting to Father Emperor, your son really didn't notice anything amiss!" Yin Si quickly kowtowed and said.

When conducting the investigation, Yin Si wanted to treat the virtuous and talented with respect, so he turned a blind eye to those minor mistakes and didn't give them much thought.

A sarcastic smile appeared on Yin's lips. Yin Si was so shameless as to say such a thing.

"Is that so?" Kangxi reached out to Li Dequan, who respectfully handed him a black folded document, which Kangxi then tossed back.

Yin Si quickly opened the document, which recorded every instance of his and the other party's philandering, even including where they met and what they received.

Yinzhi looked at the memorial and felt a surge of sarcasm. Kangxi really didn't trust anyone. He glanced at Yinzhi out of the corner of his eye, wondering if this man would receive any special treatment.

"Your subject knows his mistake!" Yin Si looked at what was written on it and felt very uneasy. Kangxi must have already investigated and found out.

"You know you're wrong! I think you're trying to collude with them." Kangxi was furious. The princes were getting old and capable of handling things on their own, yet they were starting to get involved with the ministers.

"Your subject deserves to die!" Yin Si quickly begged for forgiveness.

"Go back and stay at home until I give the order, then you may come out!" Kangxi dismissed Yinsi, and the Eighth Prince's wife followed him with some awkwardness, bowing and leaving.

Qingyan sat down in the chair, rolling up the small handkerchief in her hand.

"Dong'e Chunpeng, I have treated you well, how have you treated me?" Kangxi was very disappointed.

This time, Emperor Kangxi brought along the families of all the princes' wives who accompanied him on his journey, intending to conduct an experiment.

Unexpectedly, while the Crown Prince settled down, the Third Prince began to harbor ambitions.

"This lackey deserves to die!" Dong E Chunpeng realized that he had truly chosen the wrong side.

The Third Princess's face was deathly pale. Qingyan looked at her and muttered to himself in annoyance, "If only she had known this would happen, she wouldn't have done it in the first place."

“Those who came from the previous emperor’s reign all hate your Dong E clan to the bone. I overruled all objections and allowed you to sit in the position of the third son’s father. How did you do that? My perfectly good son was impregnated by you?” Kangxi questioned Dong E Chunpeng.

Dong Echunpeng was somewhat annoyed. If Third Master could incite Huai, he wouldn't be standing here.

"No, this servant wouldn't dare!" Dong'e Chunpeng quickly kowtowed. "This matter was instructed to this servant by the Third Prince. This servant still has the letter from the Third Prince to this servant."

At this critical juncture, Dong Echunpeng wanted to protect himself.

Li Dequan quickly took the letter from Dong Echunpeng's hand, and Kangxi opened it to read its contents.

Snap!

"Yinzhi, you unfilial son!" Kangxi glared at him with bloodshot eyes. "How dare you resort to such despicable means!"

This letter enraged Emperor Kangxi, who completely disregarded Consort Tong's objections and became even more furious.

"Did I do anything wrong? Why am I so sick? Wasn't it all arranged by the Crown Prince? Father, can't I take revenge myself?" Yin Zhi lost his mind and was determined to make the Crown Prince pay.

Ever since Yinzhi learned of his illness, his mood has instantly soured, and he is on the verge of going crazy at any moment.

"Third Prince, don't make false accusations! When did I ever make you sick?" The Crown Prince dared not admit it; if he did, his future would certainly be difficult.

“Your Highness, do you really think that silencing someone will make you completely unaware? I still have plenty of evidence.” Yin Zhi had been on guard all along, but in the end, it was truly impossible to guard against everything. “You all go back and check, make sure no one puts ‘drugs’ in the candlesticks or inkstones, or you still don’t know.”

After he finished speaking, the princes fell into deep thought. Could it be that what Yinzhi said was true?

Emperor Kangxi frowned; Yinzhi wanted to remove the Crown Prince as well.

"Father, this is the Crown Prince you personally groomed. He's never been lenient with his brothers!" Yin Zhi laughed sadly.
