As lunchtime approached, Yin and Yin met at the entrance of Chenggan Palace, where they had been on official business. They glanced at each other and couldn't help but smile.
"Brother, hurry up and go in. Everyone must be getting impatient!" Yin heard from Su Peisheng that Qingyan was personally cooking.
This lunch should be extremely lavish. Since having children, Qingyan rarely cooks anymore. Even when her father-in-law and two brothers-in-law come to the mansion, Sulan personally goes to the small kitchen to cook.
He only does Qingyan do this occasionally when he's in a bad mood.
"Fourth brother, how is your sister-in-law's cooking?" Yin asked, a little apprehensive.
Lady Yin Genjueluo is quite good at making desserts, but as for the food... we mustn't let the two of them cook something that the Emperor doesn't like, or that would be terrible.
"Brother, Xiao Guai's phone is good. Father will be at ease. It must have a plan!" Yin was not too worried. With Xiao Guai's help, Kangxi was worried that he might overeat.
Before the expedition, the imperial kitchen did not explicitly state that the meals prepared by Xiao Guai were personally selected by Emperor Kangxi.
Back then, Xiao Guai was still young, and there were concerns that if her fame became too great, she would be targeted by the Yuqing Palace.
What Master Yuanyi said was exactly what Kangxi was most concerned about: if it was good for the Qing Dynasty, the Crown Prince could be put aside for the time being.
After hearing Yin's assurance, Yin straightened his court robes and walked in with elegant steps, as if he were not the one who had been worried about the lunch going wrong.
Yin watched Yin's retreating figure and chuckled.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Li Dequan's newly recruited apprentice standing at the door. If he wasn't mistaken, it was Kangxi who had deliberately sent that servant to watch the spectacle.
"You're back?!" Qingyan came out of the small kitchen and saw Yin waiting for her at the fork in the road. Her face instantly lit up with a smile.
Seeing Yin's thoughtful actions, Yin Genjueluo felt very uncomfortable. Yin was, after all, someone who didn't believe in love. Look at what Yin did, and then look at him.
"Sister-in-law, my brother has already gone inside, he probably didn't see you!" Yin was happy to cover for Yin.
Yin Genjue Luo smiled. The fourth prince was a kind-hearted man. If it were Yin Zhi, he probably would feel uncomfortable if he didn't say something sarcastic to Yin Zhi.
Qingyan lowered her head, not daring to look at the teasing expression on Yin Genjueluo's face.
"Does the Empress Dowager like two children?" Yin was always uneasy when he learned that Consort Dong'e had also entered the palace, worried that Consort Dong'e would make things difficult for Qingyan.
At this moment, her face flushed, and his anxiety subsided.
She nodded quickly and recounted what had happened at Cining Palace.
Dong Eshi always has a habit of causing trouble, and recently, the Empress Dowager has become even more displeased with the Third Prince's wife.
"The Third Prince's child who died young was largely due to the efforts of this primary consort," Yin said with a cold smile.
Emperor Kangxi paid special attention to the offspring of his adult sons. Consort Dong'e was worried that the sons of the concubines and princesses would compete with the legitimate son for the position of heir apparent, and her ruthlessness was alarming.
ah?!
Qingyan was stunned. Sure enough, the wives were going to great lengths to protect their children's status. Yin Genjueluo Shi didn't seem to care much, and Yin rarely went to the side chambers' courtyards.
The third prince was different. Among the first five princes, the crown prince and Yinzhi liked to have women by their side, which often caused some trouble.
She pointed to the sky and said, "Got it?"
Yin nodded. The Empress Dowager had no children in her life, yet Consort Dong'e had threatened the prince's offspring, directly crossing the Empress Dowager's bottom line.
"No wonder you look so pale." Consort Tong's complexion was not good in the morning, and she gave Consort Rong a lecture.
As expected, Consort Dong'e was wrong. Consort Tong could no longer control the Third Prince's wife, so she could only control Consort Rong.
"Let's go." Yin took Qingyan's little hand and walked towards the main hall.
Inside the hall, Shu, accompanied by several of her personal maids, brought up the lunch that Qingyan and Yingenjueluo had prepared together.
Looking at the combination of meat and vegetables, Emperor Kangxi became even more eager to see Qingyan's culinary skills.
Consort Tong glanced at the food on the table and thought it was quite good; at least, the imperial kitchen certainly couldn't make such dishes.
"Alright, everyone's here. Li Dequan, you may all leave. Today, no one needs to serve you!" Kangxi also wanted to consider the lives of the common people.
Inside the hall was a round octagonal table, unlike the long table where Emperor Kangxi dined; this was more intimate.
"!" Li Dequan led the servants in the hall away.
Yin and Yin were very excited. Kangxi had never dined with his sons like this before. Even in Chenggan Palace, Yin had only dined with his family of three under the service of servants.
For the princes, this was excellent.
"Eldest son, fourth son, sit down and have a meal as a family!" Kangxi pointed to the seats on either side, "You two take care of Songkri Yierha!"
Even though Kangxi specially changed to a round table, it was still quite high for Songkri Yierha. She looked up at her grandfather, who was instructing her father and mother to take care of her, and found this experience very novel.
Consort Tong sat beside Emperor Kangxi and smiled kindly.
Today, they had their first family reunion dinner together. For Yin, it would have been even better if Consort Hui could have come.
Consort Hui, however, was not one to enjoy crowds. After losing the Emperor's favor, she did not like to get close to him.
"It tastes good!" Emperor Kangxi gave an affirmative comment.
Yin Genjue Luo looked at Qingyan in surprise. With simple ingredients, she could make such an authentic taste, which suited her taste better than what the kitchen in the mansion made.
Qingyan's eyes crinkled with laughter. Before she had children, her greatest joy was finding all sorts of delicious food, some of which involved searching for lost recipes.
After sending Yin to court, she started causing trouble.
There were moments of joy and moments of disappointment during this process.
