Chapter 706 Matchmaking

As evening fell, the carriage entered Changchun Garden. Rongxian had just returned from Consort Rong's courtyard and was preparing to go back to the princess's villa, which Emperor Kangxi had specially bestowed upon her on her wedding day.

Previously, she had always thought that she was helping Kangxi by doing this. But after she married into the Mongol family and lived alone in an empty room, she calmed down completely and realized that she had been used as a pawn by her mother and Yinzhi.

Emperor Kangxi originally hoped to find a good family for Rongxian in the capital, but Consort Rong ruined it. The Mongols were not fools either; who would put the power of their entire family on a single prince?

Rongxian advised her husband's family, but found that they had many complaints about Yinzhi, believing that Yinzhi was a Manchu prince and wondered why he was associating with Han people.

Emperor Kangxi always advocated for unity between the Manchus and Han Chinese. Yinzhi was quite learned and had a prominent position in the Hanlin Academy, but he was worthless in the eyes of the Mongol leaders. They would only support those who could prevail in terms of military strength.

Compared to Yin, Yin Zhi's martial arts skills are really too weak. Before, Yin's martial arts skills didn't seem very strong, but now, Yin is actually stronger than Yin Zhi.

When Rongxian returned, he discovered that Yinzhi's health was indeed worse than others, and he had no radiance on his face. He felt some resentment towards Yinzhi.

Her life in Mongolia was really tough. Her in-laws were full of pride, believing their child was the best. Otherwise, why would the princess have been dethroned?

Now, Kangxi has summoned Rongxian back to the capital and even prepared a princess's residence for her there, intending to keep her husband in the capital. The Mongols want to take action, so they need to consider the safety of the husband.

Rongxian was lost in her thoughts. She turned her head and looked out the carriage window. She saw Yin's carriage brush past her. In a few days it would be the Emperor's birthday. As was customary, Kangxi would have a meal with his family in Consort Tong's courtyard.

Perhaps, in Kangxi's heart, he considered Consort Tong and Yinzhi as family, while the other children were merely his responsibility.

In another carriage, Qingyan spotted the carriage that had just passed by. Behind it followed several maids dressed in Mongolian attire. Their eyes were very restless, as if they were staring at something.

"Fourth Sister, didn't you see which carriage it was? I think it should be Princess Rongxian's carriage. Those maids' eyes were very uneasy!" Qingyan didn't have a good impression of Rongxian. Before she got married, Rongxian didn't have much interaction with her. When she got married, Rongxian even used the dowry to scheme against Qingyan.

Yin didn't speak, coldly looking out the window. If Rongxian continued to cause trouble as before, Yin wouldn't mind giving Rongxian some more things to do.

"Don't concern yourself with that person's affairs anymore. She's caused so much trouble for Linglong Pavilion just to get married!" Yin was quite critical of Rongxian's methods. Most of the betrothal gifts Yinzhi gave to his third wife were deducted from Rongxian's dowry.

"Fourth Prince, it's rare for Rongxian to come back. Haven't you noticed that the servants brought from Mongolia don't respect Rongxian?" Qingyan observed for a moment and found that those people seemed to be quite good at making decisions on their own. They were slightly more restrained in front of Kangxi, but they didn't restrain themselves much in front of Consort Rong. They even ordered Rongxian around.

Yinzhi seemed oblivious to all this, only making demands of Rongxian and no longer protecting Rongxian's dignity.

"You noticed?" Yin sneered. "I noticed it the first time Rongxian went to Qiumi. These people don't take Rongxian seriously at all. They are the ones in charge of the princess's residence."

If Hutuli Fengsheng Zhalafen were to encounter this situation, he would absolutely not forgive the other party. His daughter's father-in-law could only protect his daughter and could never harm her.

"Furthermore, the Mongolians sent people here, presumably to make a request," Qingyan said directly.

Yin was delighted. The Mongolians only cared about the results. The Mongolian concubines were mostly local and had grown up with the leaders. Their relationships with the princesses would naturally be better than those with the Mongolian chieftains.

"Fourth Brother, don't you think these people are anything special?" Qingyan whispered in Yin's ear.

The two children sat at the kang table and were playing chess. Their attention was completely focused on the chessboard, and they didn't notice their parents talking at all.

"They're planning something. You know, Thirteenth Sister and Fifteenth Sister are of marriageable age. Father has already found suitable partners and will issue the decree in the next few days," Yin said in a low voice.

"Fourth Brother, what can I do to help? As long as we can protect our children, we can start discussing the rest later," Qingyan said, leaning on Yin's shoulder.

"Yes, Thirteenth Sister and Fifteenth Sister were taken to Changchun Garden by Father Emperor and are staying in Mother's backyard. So, even if those people wanted to see them, they couldn't," Yin whispered in her ear.

Qingyan looked up at the car roof, her little face scrunched up. The future of her two younger sisters was a big deal, and all of them had to be careful.

"Fourth Prince, when will Father Emperor arrange the marriage, before or after the autumn harvest?" Qingyan asked.

“It must have been the imperial decree issued before Qiu Mi!” Yinhe Qingyan said. “I wonder if Father Emperor took his two younger sisters to Mongolia. Mother Emperor will definitely hope that the two of them go together, and then send the betrothed concubines over as well, so that the two of them can get to know each other. That would be appropriate.”

"Is Mother really going to take people over there? What if they catch the eye of the Mongols?" Qingyan was very worried about the safety of her thirteenth and fifteenth sisters.

"It shouldn't be like that. If Thirteenth Sister and Fifteenth Sister were to go, there would likely be quite a few guards protecting their safety." Yin thought for a moment. If Kangxi had agreed to let his two sisters go, he would definitely have made thorough preparations.

"Fourth Brother, I think we should protect our two younger sisters. After all, this person is Yinxiang's sister. If we protect Yinxiang, we should definitely protect our two younger sisters as well," Qingyan said.

Both Yin and Qingyan understood Yinxiang's feelings for his mother and sisters; only these three people could provoke Yinxiang.

“Alright, I agree with you. Protecting Thirteen’s two younger sisters is my duty,” Yin said, putting his arm around Qingyan.

Qingyan smiled and said, "Fourth Prince, I think we just need to make sure they are safe. If the princes want to interfere, you might as well let them handle it."

Upon hearing Qingyan's words, Yin suddenly understood what she meant. A faint smile appeared on his face; she wanted to bring the two couples together.

"Your idea is indeed quite good," Yin said with a smile.

A smile appeared on Qingyan's face; it was enough that Yin could understand her thoughts.
