In a private room at the Yuelai Inn, Yin and Qingyan dined with their three children, enjoying themselves immensely. The guards outside the private room had all been summoned into the private room by Yin.
Not long after the twins arrived, Hongxi appeared in the corridor of the private room. He made a point of checking and found that Yin and other servants were indeed not in the private room.
"Are you sure you saw it clearly?" Hongxi asked the two boys beside him.
These two were later assigned to him as his personal assistants. Although they were not from powerful or wealthy families, they were people carefully selected by the Crown Prince from his own faction.
The two boys nodded quickly. If they had lied, their families would definitely punish them when they got home.
“Yiken’e and Batubuhe actually came out. Where are they?” Hongxi sneered.
The twins had been avoiding him. Hongxi understood that they were on different paths and could not work together. The Crown Prince, on the other hand, hoped to keep Yin behind him, just like he had done in the past.
"Master, should we go and take a look?" Haha Zhuzi asked Hongxi.
"No need, you should all go back first." Hongxi prepared to return first, at least to discuss it with the Crown Prince.
Yin was in the private room when he saw the two children arrive. Their expressions were a little off, so he quickly asked them what was wrong.
“Father, we saw Hongxi outside.” Yiken’e was annoyed. “However, seeing his back, we rushed back.”
Yin frowned. Although he believed that Yiken'e would never leave any evidence against him.
"Did he see the two of you?" Yin asked quickly when he heard Yiken'e ask again.
Yiken quickly shook his head: "His 'haha pillar' might have been seen, Father, what do we do now?"
"No need to do anything, let's continue our stroll." Yin looked into the distance, hoping that at least the children could have a comfortable New Year.
It was almost Shenshi (3-5 PM) when Yin and his entourage finished buying their things and boarded a carriage to go to Changchun Garden.
In Kangxi's courtyard, the Crown Prince had already arrived ahead of time. He and Hongxi had come to complain.
Kangxi noticed the fleeting anger in Hongxi's eyes and felt a bit upset.
"Master, Fourth Master has arrived with his wife and the other masters," Li Dequan said directly.
Kangxi nodded: "Let them in."
Yin and Qingyan led the children into the palace and respectfully bowed to Kangxi and the Crown Prince. Hongxi stood up and bowed to Yin and Qingyan.
"Fourth Prince, I see you're dressed in clothes for going out?" The Crown Prince said, launching the first attack after the bows were completed.
Yin looked at Yin with a cold gaze. What was wrong with Hongxi?
"Yes, we went to Dashilan," Yin said directly, without hiding anything.
Yiken'e quickly looked at Su Peisheng, and soon Su Peisheng returned from outside with a beautifully packaged box, which Yiken'e took from his hands.
“Mafa, this is something we prepared for you; it’s a token of our appreciation from the four of us,” Yiken’e quickly said.
Hearing Yiken'e's words, Yin felt relieved.
Yiken'e approached Kangxi's dragon throne and directly presented the items to Kangxi. They were just two brush washers from the common people. Although the workmanship was not exquisite, they were very auspicious.
"Hehe, it's a design of good fortune and longevity. Hutu Lifengsheng Zhalafen saw it and dragged the two of us over, insisting on buying it for the Emperor." Yiken'e quickly attributed the credit to the three of them.
Emperor Kangxi laughed heartily: "Yiken'e is quite filial; he even remembers to buy me things when he goes out."
Hongxi stood to the side, looking at the scene before him with some embarrassment, feeling quite desolate.
"Fourth Prince, Qingyan, you two have done a good job teaching him." Kangxi nodded in satisfaction.
“Mafia, this is for Angguma Mama. Wouldn’t it be better if Father and Mother took us to Angguma Mama’s place?” Yiken’e said directly.
Kangxi nodded: "Fourth Prince, you take the children over there."
Qingyan breathed a sigh of relief only after Yinzhi and his family left Kangxi's courtyard. The Crown Prince looked very uneasy, as if something was not right.
"Fourth Brother, why didn't Hongxi make a scene?" Qingyan asked in a low voice as she watched the children discussing something in the back.
"They wanted to cause trouble, otherwise the Crown Prince certainly wouldn't have come early." Yin sneered. "Hongxi returned early and would definitely have seen what was happening outside. Yiken'e timed the delivery very well, finding an excuse to stop them immediately."
As soon as the group arrived at the Empress Dowager's courtyard, they heard a loud argument coming from inside the Empress Dowager's palace.
Batubuhe listened intently, and his face immediately darkened. These people were the wives of the Left Wing Prince's tribe, and they were actually arguing about where he would spend the New Year.
Batubuhe should have spent the New Year at the Court of Colonial Affairs, which was the first place where Mongolian leaders would report to the capital.
"Aunt Narentuya, does Grandma have time now?" Qingyan saw the person standing at the door and quickly stepped forward to ask.
As she inquired, she also slipped Narentuya a purse.
"I'm sending my New Year's greetings to my aunt in advance after the New Year has passed." Qingyan was worried that Narentuya wouldn't accept the greetings, so she made up a suitable excuse.
“Your Highness, the master has been waiting for you. Please go in quickly. There is the wife of the Left Wing Prince’s tribe inside. Please be careful,” Narentuya said from the side.
Batubuhe said gratefully, "Don't worry, Granny."
As the group entered the room, the wives' gazes did not shift to Batu Buhe, and they didn't even pay much attention to Hutu Lifengsheng Zhalafen when he came in.
