Chapter 886 Tracking and Sneak Attack

At midnight, the courtyard fell silent. The masters were asleep, and the guards were also somewhat tired.

A piercing golden whistle rang out, startling Tu Lichen and the others awake. They quickly dressed, left their rooms, and ran straight to the main courtyard.

All the guards emerged from the shadows. Yin got up, shook Qingyan awake, and quickly picked up the children, one on each side, and handed them to her.

"Little Darling, put the children in there." Yin took the soft sword from the cabinet and walked out. As soon as he turned around at the door, he saw that Qingyan had taken out a pistol.

They had just checked in when they were harassed; it seems they came prepared.

"Your Majesty, His Majesty has instructed the master and you not to go out," Erlu's voice rang out from outside the window. "He also instructed you to take care of the Fujin and the young master."

Yin quickly put on his casual clothes, ready to go out at any time.

"Little darling, look outside and see who's causing trouble?" Yin was worried that Tu Lichen and the others wouldn't be able to handle the situation.

News from the capital was getting worse and worse; the Hesheli clan was truly using all its resources to pave the way for the crown prince.

Qingyan quickly shook her head. She didn't care much about what was happening outside. The delicate situation in the capital had completely affected Linglong Pavilion's business. Since the Southern Tour, Linglong Pavilion's business had obviously decreased a lot.

"Fourth Brother, should we move to another place?" Qingyan didn't let Sulan finish preparing the things.

At this moment, looking out the window, one could see that the lights outside were bright. After Kangxi bought the mansion, he specially ordered Tulichen to replace all the rooms in the main courtyard with glass doors, hoping that the masters could look out from inside the rooms.

Yin shook his head, pulled back the heavy curtains on the window, and crossed his arms.

In the courtyard, the Dragon Guards, dressed in black, surrounded the rooms with serious expressions. The intruders were dressed in black night-raid suits, with black veils covering their hair, making it difficult to identify them.

Qingyan changed his clothes and walked behind Yin. He watched the chaotic battle in the courtyard. Even some of the New Army guards had been exposed and had climbed onto the rooftops, aiming their firearms directly at the courtyard.

"Retreat!" Tulichen commanded in Manchu, following Kangxi's orders.

In an instant, the new army and the Dragon Guards all withdrew from the courtyard, leaving only the intruders; this was a kind of test.

Bang bang bang!

The sound of firearms rang out, and the new army guards on the roof all struck the intruders' legs and hands.

"Stop!" Tulichen ordered again.

The soldiers of the new army jumped down from the roof and rushed into the courtyard to check.

Erlu walked over and found that none of the people had anything to identify them, and a few of the intruders had already committed suicide.

Tulichen and Erlu exchanged glances, all feeling a deep sense of regret. The inability to capture so many survivors would create numerous problems for their interrogation efforts.

Seeing that the matter was resolved, Qingyan quickly took the two children out.

The twins were still fast asleep when they came out, which put Qingyan at ease. The two of them were not frightened by the noise outside.

Yin came over and helped her put the children down. He then hugged Qingyan from behind her.

"Little one, they might come looking for us later. Just tell them the children are sleeping well." Yin didn't intend to leave the children in Kangxi's care.

The men in black were attacking Kangxi's residence. The fact that they knew the exact location of his residence suggests that the problem might be quite serious.

Qingyan nodded. There were still bloodstains on the bluestone bricks at the entrance that hadn't been cleaned up. She saw them and thought they were all provocations.

"Your Majesty, His Majesty summons you and your wife." Su Peisheng stood at the door and spoke to them.

Yin straightened his clothes and went over with Qingyan, who was dressed simply.

The two walked to the door and saw that Yin and Yin Genjueluo were dressed the same. He and Yin smiled at each other.

They don't care about appearances; when they're out and about, simple and comfortable attire is best.

Kangxi sat upright in the main hall. He looked at his two sons' attire and nodded in satisfaction. These two children were the most pleasing to him. Their outfits showed that they were in a hurry. Tulichen had told them his intentions outside their bedroom, but they both opened the curtains and looked out the window with worry.

"Father, are you all alright?" Yin asked first.

Kangxi shook his head. The Empress Dowager was still asleep, and the noise did not disturb her.

"How are the three children?" Kangxi's expression was grim, but he had not forgotten the safety of the three children he had brought with him.

“They weren’t disturbed.” Qingyan observed carefully and noticed that neither Li Dequan nor Tulichen were with Kangxi; they must have gone outside.

Kangxi held his tea and waited patiently for Li Dequan's report. He knew that some of the people accompanying them had been bribed by outsiders, and Kangxi would definitely not let them off easily.

"Father, how did those people find us?" Yin was an impatient man and asked directly.

Kangxi laughed heartily. Yin's question was a bit too direct, but Kangxi was very pleased with his son's concerned look.

"Wait for Tulichen's interrogation report. Yin, have you ever led the generals of the Xishan Camp in Shandong?" Kangxi remembered that the people of the Xishan Camp in Shandong were transferred from the capital.

Yin pondered for a moment and said, "I have led them before, but Saito is more familiar with those people. The soldiers of the Xishan Camp train with Saito."

Qingyan became worried. Saito had always been in the new army, but he had a very good relationship with the generals who had been transferred to other places.

"Father, the strength in the army is different from that outside. The bonds between the soldiers are forged through life-or-death experiences, and some have even fought side by side on the battlefield," Yin said directly.
