Chapter Eight: Qingyan's Resistance

A day of enjoyable fishing brought great relaxation to everyone. That morning, before Qingyan was fully awake, Sulan anxiously called her from the doorway.

Yin got up and went out, seeing Su Lan's eyes slightly red, pacing anxiously at the door.

"What's wrong?" Yin asked in a low voice.

"Master, please help the master up! There's trouble at Yuelai Inn!" Su Lan was truly furious. Yuelai Inn had always been diligent and conscientious, and this time, they had actually been framed by the wine supplier?

Yin was puzzled. Everyone knew that Yuelai Inn was backed by him.

"Sulan, is the manager here?" Qingyan came out after changing into casual clothes. Seeing Sulan's anxiety, he thought to himself that something was about to happen.

"Yes, Master, the wine supplier has been arrested. They said they were supplying us with wine," Su Lan quickly said.

Damn it!

Qingyan was increasingly annoyed by the two people in Yuqing Palace, who were resorting to such despicable means.

"Yuelai Inn didn't touch those bars?" Qingyan asked.

Having learned of the strategies of the advisors at Yuqing Palace, Qingyan was ready to launch a direct counterattack.

"Yes, the shopkeeper from Yangzhou sent word that the Eighth Prince's advisors went to recruit him, saying that his youngest son died in place of Prince Yiken'e!" The shopkeeper was a formidable man. Qingyan handed over several people from the Ulanara clan to him, instructing him to personally investigate the cause of his son's death.

The shopkeeper's wife also understood that her youngest son's misbehavior was the cause of the problem; if she had managed the mansion properly, such an incident would not have occurred.

"The shopkeeper's wife kicked the person out directly, saying that she wanted to protect her two sons who had just been born." The shopkeeper's wife fell seriously ill, but later slowly recovered.

Qingyan smiled. She had met that woman before; she was meticulous and had a broad perspective.

"Fine, just tell them to be careful. Tell them that when the time is right, I'll let them take their revenge!" Qingyan couldn't tolerate the two of them disrupting Yin's plans for the time being, so everyone had to be patient.

Yin sat to the side, listening to Qingyan's question, and couldn't help but feel a little strange.

After everyone left, he immediately asked, "What happened?"

“Someone is trying to frame me, Yin, I can’t tolerate it!” Qingyan turned and left, and Sulan went in to help her change her clothes.

Yin sat in the main hall and clapped his hands in mid-air, thus finding the people from the Sticky Rod Office for the first time.

"Master," the man in black knelt on the ground and greeted him.

"What happened at Yuelai Inn?" Yin asked.

"The wine supplier provided counterfeit wine, and after being arrested, he claimed to be a supplier for Linglong Pavilion, hoping the prefect and others would show leniency, directly implicating Yuelai Inn in the scheme," the man in black stated directly. "Moreover, the supplier's wine caused deaths in other inns, and many people are demanding a search of Yuelai Inn."

Upon hearing this, Yin decided to accompany Qingyan to take a look, as the trouble at Yuelai Inn this time was truly significant.

Later that evening, Qingyan changed into her outdoor clothes, and Su Peisheng was already prepared.

"Little darling, wait a moment, I'll go with you!" Yin walked directly into the inner chamber.

Qingyan changed out of her lake-blue palace dress, her face icy with a smile. This time, she was truly furious; she had been tricked by her supplier.

Now, what she most wants to do is see who dares to cause trouble at the Yuelai Inn.

“Master, the wine cellar has long been surrounded by the mansion’s guards, no one will touch it,” Su Lan reassured Qing Yan.

Ever since Qingyan discovered the problem, the guards, disguised as the innkeeper checking the accounts, have been stationed at the Yuelai Inn.

The supplier's actions at this time are also a test.

In the carriage, Yin held Qingyan's small hand to calm her down.

"Fourth, I might implicate some people!" Qingyan pondered. If she didn't suppress them this time, it might have some negative impact on her business.

Yin hesitated for a moment, but in the end, he compromised.

As they approached the Yuelai Inn, Qingyan noticed a large crowd gathered around it, and her face tightened.

The carriage stopped on the outskirts of the crowd. The innkeeper of Yuelai Inn saw their carriage and quickly walked over.

"Wearing aprons." Yin noticed a group of thugs had gathered. "Eru, have someone surround them first."

The carriage stopped inside the enclosure, with Erlu and his guards protecting it. Yin helped Qingyan down from the carriage.

"Master," the shopkeeper greeted.

"Hey, tell me how much wine you've provided in total?" Qingyan's clear voice rang out.

The people said that there were a total of 60 jars.

Just now, the prefect brought the suppliers over and announced it in public.

"Everyone, watch here and see if Yuelai Inn has used this fake wine. Erlu, bring the wine from the cellar!" Qingyan said directly.

Upon hearing this, the people realized that the wine served at Yuelai Inn was not from the wine supplier.

"Shopkeeper, why aren't you using it?" The people were puzzled.

Qingyan smiled faintly and took the contract she had signed from Sulan's hand.

“Eighty percent of the wine at Yuelai Inn is brewed in-house, and the remaining two-tenths goes through rigorous selection processes before reaching Yuelai Inn’s suppliers. The wine provided by this person has not passed the verification of Yuelai Inn’s sommeliers.” Qingyan directly presented the sommelier’s list, and the people in the front row who could read saw the words “unqualified” on it.

"It seems the Yuelai Inn didn't deceive us after all." The people were a little puzzled; why hadn't the people who were setting up rice seedlings in the crowd stopped shouting?

As jars of sealed wine were carried out, the people nodded in agreement, agreeing that this was definitely true.

"Since everyone is here, let's invite a few villagers to personally check whether the wine jars have been opened!" Qingyan asked the shopkeeper to randomly select a few people. Among them were country folk who were watching the excitement, as well as nearby residents. Everyone felt it was fair.

After looking around, everyone promised that they definitely hadn't used it.

The people immediately began to doubt the integrity of the liquor supplier, feeling that this was clearly a frame-up, as even problematic liquor was being brought out.

"No, one of the wine jars is clearly open." From his perspective, the supplier saw that the first wine jar was open.

"Don't wine tasters open the jars before drinking?" The shopkeeper rolled his eyes.

As soon as he finished speaking, the people burst into laughter.

"Since you're so persistent, these two are regulars at the drinking stall. You can come and check if this stall has been sold before." The shopkeeper didn't give them a chance to change their minds and directly pointed to a few nearby residents.

Ha ha!

Some people laughed. These guys are all drunkards. They really can estimate the dosage, just like the shopkeepers said.

“Everyone around here knows our drinking capacity. This jar of wine is at most enough for one bottle, and that’s it!” the observers said directly.

Instantly, everyone felt relieved, but the supplier's face turned grim. This time, not only had he failed to harm Yuelai Inn, but he had also gotten himself into trouble. Who knew that Yuelai Inn would need a sommelier?
