Chapter Eleven: Learning from Qingyan

Back at the villa, Yin took Qingyan directly to the main courtyard. Yin and his wife sat inside the hall, looking at them with slightly furrowed brows, as if they hadn't found out anything.

"Mother, I'm making some new dishes for lunch today. Could you ask my sister-in-law to help me out?" Qingyan noticed that Yin Genjueluo was a little uneasy and prepared to call her out.

Kangxi nodded in agreement. Qingyan noticed that Lady Yingenjueluo was somewhat uneasy, so he quickly called her to the small kitchen.

Inside the small kitchen, the cooks stood there, seeing the things Qingyan had bought, but they really didn't know how to organize them.

"Go and bring the big basin, coarse salt, and flour!" Qingyan directly instructed the cooks. "Wash everything except the seafood. Peel the skin off this one."

Qingyan demonstrated with an onion, and then dismissed all the servants.

After clearing the area, Qingyan and Yingenjueluo sat together on a bench and cleaned the octopus with both hands.

"Sister-in-law, why are you back so soon?" Qingyan asked, puzzled. Didn't they leave much later?

Yin Genjueluo sighed. Kangxi looked at them as if he had expected them to return, but when he saw Yin and Qingyan return, they seemed a little embarrassed.

"As soon as I went out, I saw people following me. They kept following the carriage to go shopping, and the number of people tailing us only increased!" Yin Genjue Luo Shi couldn't understand what she had done wrong.

Qingyan looked up and sized up Yingenjueluo. She was wearing a dark purple casual dress. Although the embroidery on her dress was very simple, the fabric was very luxurious. She was also wearing flowerpot shoes. Her headdress was also very simple, with a pearl hairpin in her hair. These were not things that wealthy local families could afford.

“Sister-in-law, your clothes are too gorgeous, and so are your headdresses.” Qingyan pointed out directly, “Wealthy families here, unless they are traveling far, will take a sedan chair and rarely go to the market by horse-drawn carriage.”

Yin Genjue Luo looked at Qingyan with slight surprise. Kangxi was right after all. Qingyan was more suited to life here than they were. He could get more information from the mouths of ordinary people.

"Little darling, did you buy all of these yourself?" Yin Genjue Luo Shi looked at Yin and Qing Yan carrying a lot of things in and felt a little strange.

Qingyan nodded and said, "Of course, these are all very cheap. All of them together cost less than thirty copper coins. This price is acceptable for a moderately wealthy family."

At this point, Ingenjueluo had to admit that she had a lot to learn.

“I’ll go with you tomorrow!” Yin Genjue Luo Shi was unconvinced, believing that she could definitely do a better job than Qing Yan.

Qingyan shook her head, deciding not to buy any more for the next few days.

"Why?" asked Yin Genjue Luo Shi, puzzled.

"In a few days, sister-in-law, come with me. I'll be buying a lot this time. Besides, we'll be walking!" Qingyan explained the mode of transportation first. Noble ladies rarely walk, and such a long distance would exhaust Yingenjueluo. What would they do?

walk?!

Yin Genjue Luo Shi stared wide-eyed and asked, "Little darling, you went out today?"

Qingyan nodded, but her hands didn't stop moving at all. Yin Genjue Luo even drew a picture of seafood.

"Your body is in good shape. How many hours?" Yin Genjue Luo Shi often exercises and walks continuously.

Qingyan looked around and found that none of the servants were looking this way. She adjusted her skirt and made Yingenjueluo Shi look at her embroidered shoes.

"I won't wear platform shoes," Qingyan said softly.

Why......

Yin Genjue Luo examined the two women's clothes. Qingyan's clothes were noticeably dull and lackluster. Women on the interface generally did not wear such clothes, and even the fabric looked very different.

"Should I also have a dress like this made?" Yin Genjue Luo Shi realized the problem and felt much more relaxed.

Sure enough, she needed to learn more, and her hand movements gradually quickened.

The octopus was cleaned out, and Qingyan handed it over to the people below to clean.

"Sister-in-law, let us do it ourselves," Qingyan said directly.

Yin Genjue Luo nodded, "It's always best to be careful when you're out and about."

"Little darling, it's fortunate that you and Fourth Brother got the information, otherwise... we wouldn't have been able to complete the task Father Emperor entrusted to us!" Yin Genjue Luo said with a hint of annoyance.

Qingyan smiled and listened to Yin Genjue Luo's complaints.

It turned out that not long after Qingyan left, Yin and his wife left together in a carriage. As soon as the carriage left the courtyard, it was followed by another carriage. They wondered why their whereabouts had been exposed.

Yin Genjue Luo rarely had the opportunity to go shopping like ordinary people, let alone bargain. In her opinion, these things were already very cheap.

While shopping, Yin Genjueluo bought a lot of cheap toys, but didn't haggle at any of the stores. Anyone following them would know that these two were definitely from wealthy families.

On the other hand, Yin Qingyan and his companion did something different. They walked there and even went to the market, a place frequented by ordinary people. Such places were not places that ordinary noblewomen would go to, as they were somewhat dirty.

Most importantly, Qingyan always haggled over the price of every item she bought, and she paid with copper coins instead of silver. After looking at both sides, it was clear that keeping an eye on Yingenjueluo was the right thing to do.

"Little darling, I didn't know there was so much to learn about going out!" Yin didn't take these things to heart and had never cared about them. When they went out, they even used silver to pay for their expenses; they didn't have any copper coins to use.

The guards had to go to the silver shop to exchange some copper coins, which became loopholes that were targeted by others.

“Of course, living outside also requires some skill. Under normal circumstances, we send our servants out to shop, as they are completely unfamiliar with the outside world,” Qingyan said directly.

Yin Genjue Luo Shi nodded in agreement. Qing Yan was right. Whenever they went out, their servants would be at their beck and call, and they rarely had to resort to their own methods to resolve issues.

When she went out today, it was as if Yin Genjue Luo Shi had been hit with a stick. Sure enough, if she doesn't go out often, she might really become out of touch.

"Little darling, when we go out, does Father Emperor always ask to live the life of an ordinary family, just like he does now?" Yin Genjue Luo Shi wondered if she should learn more about cooking when they got back.

Um?!

Qingyan looked at Yingenjueluo Shi with confusion. Why did she ask that?

“We two sisters-in-law are busy here, preparing lunch for our family ourselves. Isn’t this the life of ordinary people?” Yin Genjue Luo Shi exclaimed.

Having lived in the royal family for many years, he realized that he had never truly understood life.

Pfft!

Qingyan smiled. Fei Yanggu had been reminding her that when she came out with Kangxi, she should treat herself as an ordinary daughter-in-law and live like an ordinary person.
