Chapter Forty-Four: On the Eve of Fei Yanggu's Departure

Ironically, a rebellion broke out in the central army camp. Even though Emperor Kangxi was in charge of the imperial tent, he couldn't quell the unrest. Meanwhile, Qingyan's small tent was completely ransacked.

After seeing that the rebels had almost finished packing up, Saito led his men into her tent, Yin's room. Su Peisheng and Su Lan were bound by hemp ropes, and the two little ones didn't make a sound.

"Qingyan, it's me, Ahhun. Come out, it's safe outside now!" Qingyan could still hear Saito's voice clearly. She glanced at the screen, then pulled Yin away from the space. Under the narrow bed, Saito couldn't find their hiding place.

"Fourth Prince, you've been frightened!" Saito knelt down before Yin. "Now, His Majesty requests that you and Qingyan go to the Imperial Tent together."

From today onwards, these two little ones will be living there. Tomorrow, Fei Yanggu will lead his troops to fight the enemy. The two of them were sent back by Fu Quan. Fortunately, they returned in time with the army. Otherwise, if something had really happened, all of them would have lost their heads.

"Ah Hun, are we safe?" Qingyan had been through two frights, and it must be said that her reaction was quite good.

Saito picked up Qingyan and pinched her little nose. Saito had been really worried about Qingyan these past few days. What if the little one had been bothered by someone? And since the three of them were not in the camp, she couldn't even find anyone to complain to.

Yin was, after all, a prince of the royal family, and he certainly wouldn't protect Qingyan like they did, in order to prevent Qingyan from being wronged.

"Fourth Master, tomorrow, Father and I are going on a campaign. Can we entrust Qingyan's safety to you?" Saito's distrustful tone infuriated Yin.

"I will protect her," Yin assured him directly.

However, Saito looked the little boy up and down. He had a good presence, but Yin's physique and stamina were not impressive.

Manchus all revered military strength. In the army, Yin's WeChat was obviously much higher than that of Yin. Qingyan leaned on Saituo's shoulder and couldn't help but think of the historical Yin who was famous for his strength. He had carried this title for hundreds of years. Even if the Fourth Party wanted to exonerate him, they didn't even have the most basic evidence.

"Hmph, you underestimate me!" Yin was annoyed. He was just young, but not stupid. Who said that you couldn't personally take charge when protecting someone? Only a brute would do that. "The guards around me aren't just for show. A wise man doesn't stand under walls. I won't let him go to dangerous places."

Yin said angrily, the man in front of him was obviously trying to trip him up.

"Let's go." Yin's assurance did not reassure Saito, but his status as a prince allowed him to order those around him to keep an eye on Qingyan.

Inside the imperial tent, Kangxi sat on the dragon throne. Consort Tong was not frightened by the commotion just now, but instead was very concerned about Qingyan and Yin's condition.

"Qingyan, are you alright?" Fei Yanggu saw Qingyan come in, hugged her tightly, and looked her up and down to see if she was safe and sound.

"Father, I hid very well, no one found me!" Yin said helplessly. Fei Yanggu's actions had gone a bit overboard. Kangxi watched the interaction between the father and daughter with a simple smile.

As a subject, Fei Yanggu needs to have some weaknesses known to him before he can be trusted to be used.

"That's good, Your Majesty. Tomorrow, my father and I will be going on a campaign. The person I'm most worried about is Qingyan. I hope you can take care of him." Fei Yanggu could exchange military merits for Qingyan's freedom, so Kangxi dared not be careless with Qingyan in the slightest.

"Yin will take good care of Qingyan." Kangxi went to great lengths to ensure that the young couple would get along better in the future.

Yin quickly stood in front of Fei Yanggu and assured him that once they returned in triumph, he would safely deliver Qingyan to him.

In fact, this was the last thing Fei Yanggu wanted to hear. Yin was the wolf who had lured Qingyan away. If Yin were an ordinary person, he would definitely have been harassed by Fei Yanggu, Saito, and Eshuo.

The four of them were of vastly different social standing. Qingyan clung to Feiyanggu's neck, unwilling to let go. Tomorrow, they would face a real war. Swords have no eyes; what would she do if they were seriously injured? Without Feiyanggu's protection, the Ulanara family would be a living hell.

“Qingyan, your father will come to take you home. Be a good girl and stay in the tent.” Fei Yanggu’s heart broke when he saw Qingyan’s aggrieved little eyes.

For a military general, dying on the battlefield is an honor, but now he cherishes his life even more. Qingyan is his weakness, but fortunately, he only shows it in front of Kangxi, and the enemy has only heard a little about it.

"Okay! Father, you absolutely cannot abandon Qingyan!" Qingyan's eyes were filled with tears; she didn't want to lose this warm home.

"Today, I'm giving the three of you a day off to spend time with Qingyan." Kangxi understood perfectly well that anything could happen on the battlefield, and arrows wouldn't stay away from you just because you held a high position.

Yin watched helplessly as Qingyan was carried away by Feiyanggu. He turned to look at Kangxi. Shouldn't Feiyanggu be sent to reorganize military affairs at this time?

"Xiao Si, come here!" Kangxi noticed that Yin was paying more and more attention to Qingyan. He didn't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing. His carefully nurtured child shouldn't be so sentimental.

"Father, Qingyan is safest with me." Fei Yanggu's servants cannot be guaranteed to be loyal to him. What if Qingyan gets hurt?

Emperor Kangxi chuckled. The brat had really grown up; he already knew how to beg for forgiveness for his wife.

"Little Four, tomorrow, Fei Yanggu will leave, and Qingyan may face a separation of life and death at any time. If Fei Yanggu really leaves, you don't want Qingyan to hate you for the rest of his life, do you?" Every time Kangxi went on a campaign, he would secretly spend the last night with Lanya. He would arrange everything so that even if he didn't return, he wouldn't let Lanya suffer.

This is what a man should do. Kangxi stroked Yin's little head. His serious look made Kangxi look at him in a new light. Ever since Yin unintentionally revealed his imperial aura, Kangxi had been subtly teaching Yin a lot about how to be a ruler.

Back then, he put Crown Prince Yin on the throne simply to appease the people, as the Rebellion of the Three Feudatories had already seriously affected the foundation of the Qing Dynasty. The Empress Dowager's pressure forced Kangxi to compromise.

The Crown Prince had always been taught by the Empress Dowager, and his relationship with the Mongols had become even stronger. As long as the Empress Dowager was alive, Yin's position as heir apparent would be more and more secure.

Yin was still young, which allowed him to hide in Yin's shadow and grow up slowly.
