Chapter Forty-Nine: Fei Yanggu Returns

That day, Qingyan had just gotten up when Yin carried her to the imperial tent. As soon as she entered, she heard a familiar voice from inside.

"Father..." Qingyan wriggled her little body, trying to get down from Yin's arms. Her big eyes were bright and sparkling, but the smile only lasted for a moment before her little face drooped.

Fei Yanggu felt bad because his little Qingyan was angry. Kangxi watched the father and daughter's actions with great pleasure. He wanted to hug Qingyan and give her a good squeeze because of her proud little appearance.

"Father, you broke your promise! You said you'd be back as soon as possible, and look at the time!" Qingyan said angrily, hands on her hips, her lips pursed.

Fei Yanggu was secretly pleased. Qingyan was worried about his safety; many people were watching Qingyan's situation inside the imperial tent. Eshuo and Saito were still on the battlefield. Recently, Qingyan had lost a lot of weight, so Kangxi temporarily summoned Fei Yanggu back.

"Alright, you two, father and daughter, go back first. Yin, you stay here." Yin watched Qingyan leave reluctantly. That heartless woman didn't even leave a glance behind. Humph!

Qingyan hugged Fei Yanggu's neck, rubbing her little face against his bearded cheek, and tears slowly welled up in her big eyes.

She couldn't shed tears, whether in front of Emperor Kangxi or Prince Yin. Emperor Kangxi and Prince Yin cared about her, but more so hoped that their father and sons would be loyal.

"Little darling... don't cry!" Qingyan's soft sobs seemed to lash Fei Yanggu's heart. She was still young, and the three of them had left her in the wolf's den. They had no choice but to do so. At least, Yin could guarantee Qingyan's safety.

If they left her in the capital, she might be nothing but a pile of bones when the three of them returned. There would be some risks here, but Kangxi would take great care of her.

"Father, please don't leave Qingyan behind, okay?" Qingyan looked at Fei Yanggu with a wronged expression. The people in the camp were talking nonsense. Father and Ah Hun and the others will be safe and sound.

In her past life, Qingyan never experienced the warmth of a father's love. Now, she truly feels it and doesn't want to lose it.

"Good boy!" Fei Yanggu knew that Kangxi had called him back this time because of the little baby in his arms. Qingyan had been wronged by the disappearance. "Did someone bully our little darling?"

Qingyan nodded heavily. Not only were those people skimping on the food, but some servants were also gossiping in front of him, saying that the Ulanara family was no longer as glorious as before.

snort!

Now that Fei Yanggu has returned, those lackeys who used to gossip about Qingyan are starting to feel uneasy. His Majesty must know about it, otherwise he wouldn't have summoned the generals back at the last minute.

"Father will speak to His Majesty, and if possible, Father will stay with you." None of the fates outside are as important as Qingyan. The child is still young, and with Yin's company, he stays here all alone.

On the way back, Akdun, who came to meet him, had already said that the little princess had suffered a lot of grievances. None of those gentlemen were well-behaved, and even those young masters had begun to covet Qingyan.

Feiyanggu understood the nature of the Mongols very well. The so-called princes were basically all roughnecks. Qingyan, being so delicate and weak, should be protected by a child like Yin.

"Qingyan, your father told you what to do when you encounter disobedient servants?" Fei Yanggu didn't think he had taught Qingyan bad habits. After Yin went to the imperial tent to pay his respects, the servants in Qingyan's tent became unruly. They really should be properly suppressed.

Qingyan tilted her head, recalling Fei Yanggu's words. Before leaving the capital, Fei Yanggu had said that if you encounter unscrupulous servants, you must not retaliate in kind.

Recently, she was worried about bringing disaster to Feiyangu. She held Feiyangu's sleeve tightly with her two little hands. Ever since the camp said that Ahhun had gone missing, she hadn't been able to sleep well for a single day. She often woke up from nightmares.

"Father, won't I bring you disaster?" Many servants outside said behind her back that she was a jinx. Back then, when Jue Luo Shi and Fei Yang Gu quarreled, she said the same thing to her.

Two tiny paws gripped Fei Yanggu's clothes tightly. He gently pulled Qingyan's little hands away and placed them in his large palm. From a young age, he had provided Qingyan with an overly clean environment. The servants knew he doted on Qingyan, so they had always protected her. Recently, however, an action by Kangxi had completely confused him.

“Qingyan is my lucky star. Look, Father and my brothers went to war unscathed. There are very few soldiers on the battlefield who can do that.” Fei Yanggu hinted to Qingyan not to listen to the speculations outside, that they were all fine.

He held Qingyan tightly and coaxed her softly. Before long, Qingyan fell asleep. When Sulan came in, she saw Qingyan snoring softly, and her heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled down.

Fei Yanggu placed Qingyan on the bed, covered her with a brocade quilt, and then took Sulan outside.

As soon as they reached the outside of the tent, Fei Yanggu was radiating anger. Su Lan knelt on the ground, awaiting Fei Yanggu's judgment.

"Qingyan has been suffering from insomnia?" Fei Yanggu couldn't ignore the bruises under his youngest daughter's eyes.

“Yes, ever since the young master had his accident, the princess has been very alert. Even with the fourth prince by her side, she can only sleep for two or three hours. Since the news of the adults and young masters’ failure came, many people have come to see the joke. Some Mongolian princes even said that since the princess has become an orphan, they wouldn’t mind taking her back as a concubine.” As Su Lan finished speaking, Fei Yanggu’s anger continued to rise.

Very well! The three of them are fighting a bloody battle on the front lines, while a Mongolian prince is watching over them from the rear. He certainly won't let these people off the hook.

"Do you still remember her?" Fei Yanggu looked at Su Lan. In a moment, he was going to Emperor Kangxi to file a complaint. For his daughter, he was willing to give up his military merits to restore Qingyan's reputation.

Su Lan mentioned a few people, and Fei Yanggu's face darkened even more. They were actually the princes of the northern desert, a place even Emperor Kangxi disliked. He turned to look at the tent. Emperor Kangxi had the Plain Yellow Banner guards surrounding the tent, presumably for the safety of Qingyan.

As they were talking, several Mongolian boys quietly slipped to one side of the tent and were talking to a guard. The leader had just given the guard a bag of silver when Fei Yanggu saw it.

"Suha, detain that guard and those Mongols for me!" Fei Yanggu's roar made the princes want to leave. They had finally managed to bribe a guard to see the little princess. If the Ulanara family had truly fallen on hard times, even if they took her body, Kangxi wouldn't say anything.

To everyone's surprise, Fei Yanggu returned immediately after bribing the man.

"Yes!" The guards of the Ulanara family only listened to Fei Yanggu, and even Emperor Kangxi could not command them.

"Fine, give each of them twenty strokes of the cane first, then drag them outside to be beaten." Fei Yanggu stroked his thumb ring. What were a few princes? They were just living off the Qing Dynasty. Now, they actually dared to touch his daughter.
