Chapter Fourteen: Stealing the Twins

As midnight fell, the curtain rose over Yin and his courtyard. As usual, the concubine in the side chamber and the walls of the courtyard were surrounded by the Dragon Guards. After nightfall, the Dragon Guards slowly approached.

As the clock struck midnight, a dark figure leaped onto the roof from the courtyard gate.

Da da da!

Even if the people who came up were as light as swallows, they would still make some noise as soon as they reached the roof. Tu Lichen and the others were highly skilled in martial arts, and they already knew that people had entered the mansion as soon as those people got on the roof.

Qingyan forced herself to stay awake and wait for those people to arrive. As time passed, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier. Soon, she nestled in Yin's arms and fell asleep.

"Little darling, get up quickly!" Yin said with a laugh as he leaned close to her ear.

Whoosh!

Qingyan forced herself to open her eyes, but she had not yet fully recovered.

"What's wrong?" Qingyan asked softly.

"They're here!" Yin patted her back. Each time he did this, it would slowly bring Qingyan back to her senses.

Today, neither Fei Yanggu nor his two sons were on duty, and Qingyan didn't tell them anything about what would happen that evening.

"Behave yourself. With Erlu leading his guards and cooperating with Tulichen, we'll definitely be able to catch him," Yin promised Qingyan.

The Dragon Guards have never failed before, and they cannot appear for the time being. Yin's guess is correct; the Dragon Guards must have been dispatched by Kangxi to control the upper echelons.

After all, the branch that was hidden must have been a collateral branch from many years ago. This network of connections was arranged by the Empress Dowager Wu Keshan to enter the pass when she was outside the pass.

Emperor Taizong once said that the Empress Dowager was the foremost strategist in the harem.

This assessment was particularly sarcastic. Before Emperor Taizong could even enter the pass, the network of connections arranged by the Empress Dowager was discovered by Dorgon, who even wanted to control it.

The Empress Dowager would never agree to this, and under her instigation, Shunzhi came to see Dorgon as a thorn in his side.

In reality, all the men of the Aisin Gioro family became bargaining chips in the hands of the Empress Dowager. Yin sneered. Outsiders said that Kangxi had a very good relationship with the Empress Dowager, but he did not arrange a mausoleum for her during his lifetime.

Thump thump thump!

One by one, the men in black landed. They covered their mouths and noses with damp cloths, lit the incense in their hands, and put the old woman in the side room to sleep.

The men in black split into two groups. One group stayed outside to keep watch, while the other three quietly entered the children's bedroom. Worried that lighting candles would disturb others, they simply touched the person under the covers by touch, wrapped the child up, and carried him out.

A whistle blew, and all the torches in the courtyard were lit. The man in black was somewhat flustered when he saw the courtyard as bright as day. All of this was arranged by Tu Lichen. In front of the inner chamber, a circle of dragon guards had also been formed.

Damn it!

One of the leaders of the men in black cursed under his breath. When they came in, they had considered that things had gone a little too smoothly, and they were actually waiting to arrest people now.

"Anyone who dares to step forward will lose their lives!" the leader of the men in black said, looking at Tulichen not far away.

Pfft!

Upon hearing this, Qingyan laughed. The toys he had prepared for Hutuli Fengsheng Zhalafen actually came in handy at this moment, managing to fool those people.

"They didn't even notice?" Yin asked in surprise.

"Of course, those three dolls are made with real hair, so no one will notice." Qingyan smiled. This was also Qingyan's instruction to Sulan to treat the dolls like a human being taking a bath.

She brought out the twins, a boy and a girl, and before the two children even noticed, she had already moved to another place.

The fighting outside was so loud that it woke Yiken'e from her sleep.

Wow!

A cry seemed to freeze the men in black. They looked at the bundle in their arms, but it was completely still and didn't look like a living child.

They quickly opened the package, and under the torchlight, Tu Lichen shook his head. The toys made by the Fourth Princess Consort could actually deceive these people.

Hehehe!

Erlu laughed. Since the men in black hadn't caught the twins, they could now act freely.

Previously, when the Fourth Prince and his wife took the twins away, neither of them said anything.

As night fell, they remained hidden outside the courtyard, unaware that the twins had been taken away. They also noticed the bulges on the chests of the men in black, and dared not attack them directly.

Now, they could finally unleash their full power and directly attack the men in black.

"Damn it!" The men in black, seeing the endless stream of people appearing one after another, instantly had a bad feeling; they had fallen into a trap.

"Leader, what should we do?" Taking advantage of the attack, the men in black gathered around their leader.

"It would be best if they succeeded over there. We can only stall for time and give them more time to deal with the situation!" They split into two groups, one targeting the twins and the other targeting Songkriyirha.

The men in black on both sides complemented each other, and it would be good if either side succeeded.

"Eru, try to leave them alive." Tulichen noticed the people's clothing and worried that it would directly lead to their deaths.

The reason Kangxi sent Tulichen was to capture people alive for questioning.

To prevent these people from taking poison, Tulichen specifically used Manchu to give the orders.

As soon as the words were spoken, everyone began to attack cautiously. The leader of the men in black could understand Manchu and knew he was in trouble. Some of those who had come with him were guards from the high-ranking officials, and these people only knew Mongolian.

Before leaving, the leader specifically instructed that this pleasing person must not be allowed to speak Mongolian.

"Try to avoid them and break out separately!" The leader noticed the men in black approaching and spoke to them in Mongolian in a very low voice.

Tulichen had excellent hearing; upon hearing the command in Mongolian, his heart tightened. Had he stumbled upon some royal secret again?

Erlu had roughly learned some of the facts, and outwardly he still looked slightly surprised. He felt that the rumors must be true, that the Mongol tribes had indeed sent people into the interior of China, and that the Empress Dowager's schemes were quite profound.

"Eru, don't go after them!" Tulichen arranged for Eru to withdraw at the crucial moment.

Erlu cast a grateful glance at him. These troubles could be left to the Dragon Guards. With a single command, Fourth Master Qin Wei and his men all left the battle.

Inside the courtyard, only Tulichen's Dragon Guards remained. Even the Imperial Guards left immediately. The problem with the Erlu Letter was serious this time. If His Majesty didn't pursue it, so be it; otherwise, all of them would be silenced.

Qingyan listened intently to the sounds coming from inside the courtyard. When Tulichen suddenly gave the order, she couldn't help but smile. Erlu had a good relationship with the Dragon Guards, which was why he was able to get the Dragon Guards to protect him.

“Eru is good at maneuvering, I think he’s quite good!” Yin said, a hint of emotion appearing on his face as he spoke of his servant.
