Chapter Seventeen: The Qing Dynasty Version of "Father is XX"

After the incident, Kangxi was in a bad mood. Consort Tong was always very careful, afraid of being caught in the crossfire. Empress Dowager Tong paid close attention to Kangxi's every move and urged Consort Tong to pay more attention to Kangxi's health.

"Xuan Ye, your mother has been worried about your health, and Yin is too busy to be home." Consort Tong brought over a bowl of rock sugar and white fungus soup, her face full of concern.

Kangxi shook his head. There had been many things to do lately, so Yin and Yin acted as the vanguard, taking their younger brothers with them on their errands.

"What about Xiao Guai?" Kangxi also assigned a task to Qingyan.

Fei Yanggu and his two sons were dispatched to the Xishan camp, and Yin went to help them. Yin acted as the manager of Linglong Pavilion and went to the shops to purchase goods.

Based on the situation of the goods being purchased, several gathering places of the White Lotus Sect were discovered. As a result, Yin completely eradicated several problematic places.

“She went with Yin,” Consort Tong quickly said.

At this moment, Qingyan was sitting in the carriage, accompanying Yin to purchase goods. The managers of Linglong Pavilion saw a stack of purchase lists, which recorded the suppliers of each of Linglong Pavilion's businesses.

Outside the carriage, the number of pedestrians on the street had actually decreased, and she had a slight sense of foreboding.

"Si Si, how many people know we're going out?" From the moment Qing Yan left the house, she had a feeling that there were people following behind the carriage.

He gave her a strange look. Why did Xiaoguai ask that?

"I've been wondering this since we left. Were the people behind us sent by Father Emperor?" Erlu didn't sound the alarm, so they must be Kangxi's men.

Yin nodded and said, "Father Emperor was worried about our safety and sent the Dragon Guards to follow us directly."

Qingyan sneered. "Is Kangxi afraid that Yinzhen is unreliable?"

The princes were always under Emperor Kangxi's surveillance, and they were not allowed to have much contact with officials outside the capital. Officials in the south hoped to have more contact with the princes; the crown prince had already fallen, but the other princes were in a different situation.

Outside the car, the sun shone brightly, but Yin's heart was filled with gloom. Qingyan had been very well-behaved lately, and even the twins had toned down their tempers.

"Sisi, we'll be at the nearest shops soon. Haven't we already investigated a few?" Qingyan reassured him.

After Yin Genjue Luo revealed the origin of the man in black, Yin's expression also darkened. The adversary they had been concerned about was actually created by their own people.

"Little darling, I'm sending the children to your father-in-law's place for their safety." Yin had discussed it with Yin, and Fei Yanggu's villa was the safest place.

Outsiders couldn't get in; the new army surrounded the courtyard, making it even safer than the area around Emperor Kangxi.

"Can't we take them with us when we go out?" Qingyan smiled bitterly. "Even if we change clothes before going out, I'll go with you. The children are left in the villa as hostages, and I can't even say a word to them."

"Silence!" Yin said directly.

She pouted slightly, her face puffed up with anger.

Outside the carriage, the air was filled with the sounds of people. Qingyan looked out curiously as they passed through a bustling market where some people were selecting what they needed.

She suddenly noticed that the buyers standing in front of the stall were looking at her differently, as if they were more concerned about what was happening behind them.

"Fourth Brother, look at that person, he... doesn't seem to be buying anything." Qingyan pointed outside and whispered to Yin.

Yin followed her finger and looked outside. The stalls nearby were all occupied by shoppers, which was quite strange. All the pedestrians were men, and there wasn't a single woman among them, which was very different from the usual market.

"Su Peisheng, speed up!" Yin said worriedly. Following behind were Yin and his wife, who wanted to minimize any mistakes.

Su Peisheng obeyed the order and sped up the carriage. To ordinary pedestrians, it looked like a caravan in a hurry. Several buyers noticed that Yin and his carriage had sped up and were about to catch up when they were blocked by a caravan of acrobats in the market.

Qingyan used the screen in the space to look behind her. Four or five men were staring at her. She patted her small chest and sighed with emotion.

"Four, there really is a problem!" There are always acrobatic troupes on market days. Qingyan went to the southern market three times and found traces of acrobatics each time.

She arranged for Erlu to go to the front of the acrobatic troupe, bribed the troupe leader, and had him come directly over to continue the performance at the east end.

The circus troupe was passing them, and Yin ordered Su Peisheng and the others to speed up their journey. Yin followed closely behind. The carriage wouldn't give way to the circus troupe, and those people would be in trouble.

"Little darling, you're quite observant. We ran into this as soon as we stepped out." Kangxi specifically instructed Yin to try his best to find out the hideout.

He was under a lot of pressure. Yin followed him, hoping to protect the two of them. Yinqi was sent back to the villa by Yin under some pretext.

As soon as they stepped out the door, Yinqi almost exposed his identity. The mission they were on was too important, so they had to be careful. After a brief test, Yinqi finally decided to send the person back.

"Fourth Prince, you finally sent Yinqi away, otherwise there would have been even more trouble." Qingyan felt a headache when she thought of Yinqi. Although she hadn't actually seen the situation, she could still laugh at Yinqi's account.

At the restaurant where they had lunch, Yinqi almost staged a Qing Dynasty version of "My father is xx".

Yin gave a wry smile; the teasing in her tone only made his head ache more.

"Never mind, the Fifth Prince is too well protected. After all, the Empress Dowager rarely lets him leave the palace. He is probably the least experienced of the princes in the palace when he goes back." Yin explained, "I guess Father Emperor will be talking about him when Yinqi goes back."

If their identities were exposed, it would probably be due to Yinqi's actions. Yinqi covered Yinqi's mouth to stop him from speaking. His posture would make experienced surveillance personnel even more aware of his abilities.

Qingyan leaned against Yin, feeling that the trip would be very difficult and would take at least seven days. She also felt that the twins, under the tutelage of Fei Yanggu and his two sons, would be even more difficult to manage once they returned.

"From now on, we need to reduce our accommodations!" Yin decided to try to sleep outdoors as much as possible. He would find a good spot outside, where the Dragon Guards and personal guards would protect him, which should be safer than staying in the county town.

The carriage moved slowly forward, temporarily shaking off the tail behind it. Yin's personal guards brought up the rear; they had accompanied Yin on the expedition and were the most vigilant.

"No way!" Qingyan objected immediately. The safety level in the wild is the lowest, after all, this is not near the capital. "Let's go to Yuelai Inn instead. There will be a Yuelai Inn in every place we stop along the way."

Qingyan didn't want Yuelai Inn to get involved anymore, but given the practicalities, safety was the most important thing.
