Later that evening, Qingyan, carrying the late-night snack she had prepared in the kitchen, headed towards Yin's study.
When the fourth prince was teaching archery, Qingyan was quite surprised, having heard that Yin's horsemanship and archery skills were among the worst of the princes. Today, he had broken his own rule.
"Qingyan, why are you out so late?" Yin put down his book and looked at the late-night snack Sulan was holding. He felt a warmth in his heart. In the palace, apart from Consort Tongjia and Emperor Kangxi, who cared about whether he could eat his fill, even the wet nurse by her side had to consider whether he could be raised according to the rules of the palace.
In the evening, when he got hungry while reading, his wet nurse would try to persuade him to eat.
Brother, don't eat too much!
Yin grew up hearing these words, and he was somewhat unhappy about them. Qingyan, however, did not disappoint him; her wet nurse listened to her even more.
Fei Yanggu would not allow the wet nurse to bully Qingyan. Once, when Yin heard that Qingyan's mother treated her badly, Fei Yanggu made a tough decision to move to a new mansion and never returned to the old house in Ulanara.
"You must be hungry!" Qingyan waved his chubby little hand, and a bowl of milky white duck bone soup appeared in front of her. This was his best midnight snack.
"Hehe, Qingyan understands me best!" Yin picked up his small porcelain bowl and began to eat slowly.
Su Peisheng recalled that before the wet nurse left the palace, she was worried about the Fourth Prince and kept telling Su Peisheng that the prince should not eat too much at night, otherwise he would get indigestion.
Princess Qingyan is too young to know these things, and don't the nannies around her understand them either?
"Don't cause trouble. Every day, the princess eats a midnight snack!" Su Lan tugged at Su Peisheng's sleeve, telling him not to disturb the masters' peace.
Su Peisheng pouted. He then ignored the groping suggestion.
"This tastes pretty good." The duck bone soup contains some thin noodles, which are easy to digest and won't cause indigestion, making it the perfect dish.
Yin nodded. This thing is really quite good!
"Of course, this kind of food can not only fill your stomach as a midnight snack, but also make it easier for you to fall asleep!" Qingyan recalled the wet nurse in the old house. When she was just weaned, she was so hungry that she couldn't sleep because of the rules of these two meals. As soon as Fei Yanggu finished his court session, she ran to Fei Yanggu and cried.
The room was warm and cozy. Kangxi received a secret memorial detailing these unruly behaviors, but he didn't care. He simply told Fei Yanggu to properly instruct Yinzhi.
Every morning, Qingyan would always be up late, a habit that Yin had long since gotten used to. After practicing a set of Tai Chi, he would then practice archery, finally managing to get Qingyan to come out.
Every day, his life was exceptionally fulfilling, far better than in the palace.
Compared to the Dong'e family, the Ulanara family's teachings to Yin were more diverse, allowing Kangxi to gradually watch Yin grow step by step.
"Greetings to Fourth Master!" Li Dequan followed Fei Yanggu to the mansion, followed by many servants carrying boxes and some food specially prepared for the banquet.
"Anda, you've arrived!" Yin calculated the time and realized it was time to go to the palace to bid farewell. He never expected that the person bidding him farewell would be Li Dequan, who was by Kangxi's side.
Qingyan blinked her big eyes. Li Dequan was an old man in his forties with no beard and sparse hair even in his braid. However, the slight sway of his lower back indicated that he was a servant.
"Greetings to Eunuch Li!" Qingyan smiled broadly. Li Dequan knew she liked cream puffs, so he had them delivered, which suited Qingyan's taste perfectly!
"Princess Qingyan, please rise!" Li Dequan bowed halfway. Fei Yanggu was quite satisfied with Qingyan's quick thinking; the little one was indeed quite good.
"Princess, these are new foods sent from foreign lands. His Majesty mentioned that you like them, so he had us bring them over!" Yin looked at the boxes with a black line on his face. When the servants opened them, there were chocolates, black tea, dried fruits, and everything else. Qingyan's big eyes lit up, and her chubby little body pounced on the box containing chocolates.
She may have run too fast or too fiercely, because Qingyan fell directly into the box.
A little boy lay on the chocolate mountain, not even crying out in pain, and grinned foolishly at Yin.
All these chocolates in front of her now belong to her. That's wonderful!
"You brat, aren't you satisfied yet?" Yin walked over and yanked her out of the box. He frowned as he looked inside. At the bottom were some Western fruit candies, and on top were chocolates and Mongolian milk candies.
The next box contained fresh food sent from foreign lands, and the third box contained dolls for the little girl.
He immediately understood that Emperor Kangxi had learned of his intention to personally shoot arrows, and this was Kangxi's reward for Qingyan.
"Anda, go back and tell Father that I will not fall behind in any of my studies!" A faint smile appeared on Yin's face, but it immediately turned into an icy expression.
Li Dequan was happy to see this smile. Ever since Wuya hurt the Fourth Master, he had been smiling less and less, and his whole demeanor was cold and unpleasant to look at.
"Su Peisheng, have someone put all the chocolates and candies in my study!" Yin emphasized the last four words, and immediately, Qingyan looked up from his arms, her mournful little eyes filled with longing for Yin.
"Four! I want to eat!" her bright red little mouth cried out, pointing to her chubby index finger.
When Li Dequan heard that Qingyan had given Yin a nickname, he was completely taken aback when he actually found out. He glanced at Yin out of the corner of his eye, but Yin didn't react at all, remaining extremely calm.
Yin casually took out a handkerchief, removed her chubby little paw from her mouth, and wiped her knee clean.
"We agreed not to eat it!" Qingyan knew how to act cute. In front of Fei Yanggu and her two older brothers, her adorable and innocent appearance melted everyone's hearts, and her request was granted.
Li Dequan was puzzled that Fourth Master did not agree, and even went so far as to advise Qingyan behind her back, telling her not to care too much about the food.
She watched longingly as the servants carried the things into Yin's study, her large eyes conveying the message that he was a bad person. Yin chuckled.
"Every day, you can eat two pieces of chocolate, and you must learn 10 Manchu characters and 10 Mongolian characters, without making a single mistake." Li Dequan listened to Yin's meticulous instructions and found it unbelievable. When did the Fourth Prince become so meticulous, able to coax Qingyan into learning to read?
Li Dequan looked at Fei Yanggu, who calmly watched the scene unfold before him. The two little figures, one tall and one short, walked back to the study before Fei Yanggu woke him up.
"Fourth Master has grown up, hasn't he?" Fei Yanggu had been very protective of Qingyan, and under the influence of the father and his two sons, Yin had gradually become more patient. "My daughter's early education was all arranged by Fourth Master!"
