Chapter Two: Yiken Protects His Sister and Spits Blood

At dawn, Yin brought the tired Qingyan back to the courtyard, intending for her to rest well there that day.

With the letter issue resolved, both men felt relieved, knowing that Kangxi had surely placed some constraints on that side.

"Little darling, sleep a little longer, you've been up all night!" After the two changed out of their outdoor clothes, Yin turned and pulled her into his arms.

During lunch, Qingyan woke up, her eyes still closed, and reached out to her right side. Yin actually got up.

Hearing the commotion in the inner chamber, Su Lan quickly came in and helped Qing Yan get up.

"When did you get up, Master?" Qingyan asked in a low voice as he sat down in front of the bronze mirror.

After she was coaxed to sleep by Yin, Yin only slept for two hours. When the children woke up, they kept looking for their parents. Worried that they would wake Qingyan, he took the children directly to the study.

After washing up, she changed into a light Hanfu with a short shirt and long skirt, and only wore a jade hairpin in her hair.

This jade hairpin was designed by Yin himself and carved from various colors of jade. It is rare to find a single piece of jade. Each flower is so beautiful and vibrant that it seems to come alive. In the very center is a blooming peony, with a South Sea gold pearl inlaid in its stamen.

At midnight on Qingyan's birthday, Yin personally used this hairpin to style her hair.

"Fourth Prince, why don't you rest a little longer?" Qingyan looked at Yin sitting in the armchair, holding two children on either side of him.

Yiken'e held a specially made small brush in his right hand and wrote characters stroke by stroke. Hutulifengshengzhalafen was not to be outdone and followed his brother to trace the characters.

"It's alright. The children woke up early, had breakfast, and are now interested in practicing calligraphy," Yin replied with a smile.

Qingyan walked over to the three of them and carefully examined Yiken's tracing.

They were still young and didn't have much strength in their hands. The small calligraphy brushes they held were made by the servants in the imperial workshops at Yin's personal request. Even the Xuan paper was cut to fit the size of their hands, and the various writing implements they used were designed by Yin himself. The paperweight used by Hutuli Fengsheng Zhalafen was an adorable snow mastiff, while Yiken'e was a powerful gyrfalcon.

"No more movement?" Qingyan thought that His Majesty must have punished him, otherwise, how could he be in such a good mood?

Yin nodded, looked up at the grandfather clock in the distance. The two children had been writing for an hour, and it was time for them to rest for a while.

"Yiken'e, write again after your lunch break. Go back and freshen up; it's time for our meal!" Yin said lovingly to the twins.

The nannies of the twins came in and took the children away, and Yin let Qingyan sit beside him.

"Father Emperor did not issue a formal reprimand, but is directly investigating." Since Kangxi is personally investigating, none of the people behind the scenes will escape punishment.

Fortunately, they didn't interfere with the investigation, otherwise...

Qingyan listened intently. Kangxi's actions surprised Yin. Similar incidents had occurred before, but Kangxi had simply chosen to ignore them.

"Father Emperor pays more attention to the south," Yin sighed helplessly.

She leaned weakly against him, closing her eyes to mourn for the child.

"Si Si, let someone hold a memorial service for that child at Lingyin Temple." Qingyan always felt that the child was suffering in place of Yiken'e.

Yin did not object; instead, he nodded in agreement.

Three days later, just after breakfast, Emperor Kangxi prepared to take his princes on a sea fishing trip. The twins, a boy and a girl, had already changed into their fishing clothes and skipped towards Kangxi's courtyard.

Just as they were about to reach the door, the Eighth Prince's wife was about to leave when Yiken'e lost his footing and bumped into her.

ah!

Yiken'e was pushed and sat down on the ground. The nanny quickly went over to check on her.

"Yiken'e, didn't you see there were people in front of you? You really have no manners!" The Eighth Princess Consort didn't mention that she had pushed someone, but directly wanted to ruin Yiken'e's reputation.

“Eighth Aunt, you came out suddenly first, why are you talking about Ah Hun?” Hutuli Fengsheng Zhalafen, who always protected his own, told the truth directly.

Upon hearing Hutuli Fengsheng Zhalafen's rebuttal and seeing that small face that resembled Qingyan's, the Eighth Princess Consort could no longer suppress her servility and slapped Hutuli Fengsheng Zhalafen across the face.

Yiken'e sat on the ground, feeling pain all over her body. Realizing the Eighth Prince's wife's intention, she ran directly to her younger sister.

Snap!

With a loud thud, the Eighth Prince's wife's hand landed on Yiken'e's back. Yiken'e slowly fell to the left, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

Swish, swish, swish!

Three dark figures flashed out from not far away. One picked up Yiken'e and flew directly into Kangxi's courtyard. Another blocked the Eighth Prince's wife's way, and the third carried Hutulifengsheng Zhalafen.

The servants following behind the twins were stunned by the Eighth Prince's wife's actions. Before they could react, the two young masters were injured.

At this moment, Yin and Qingyan were still arranging things for the trip to the seaside when they heard about the guards' ice cream. Qingyan's face darkened, and anger flashed in his eyes.

"Let's go!" Qingyan ignored Yin's attempts to stop her and ran straight to Kangxi's courtyard.

She ran into the main hall and saw the Eighth Prince's wife kneeling inside. She took two steps forward, but Yinsi stepped forward to stop her. Qingyan pushed Yinsi aside with all her might and slapped the Eighth Prince's wife several times.

"If anything happens to the children, I will make Prince An and your maternal family pay with their lives, and your mansion will not receive a single extra penny," Qingyan said with hatred.

Yin Si quickly stepped forward: "Fourth Sister-in-law, it really was an accident!"

After all, Yinsi needed financial support to seize the throne, and Qingyan's words clearly ruined his future.

"Heh, you really don't know how important children are to parents if you don't have children. Eighth Prince, I mean what I say!" Qingyan said coldly.

Upon hearing the news, Yin rushed back from outside. Hearing Qingyan's words, he instantly became furious.

Guo Luoluo is clearly being blamed; she deserves to die!

"Fourth Sister-in-law, how is the child?" Yin's anxious expression was genuine, but Qingyan shook her head.

Shu quickly came out and, seeing what had happened inside the main hall, immediately pretended it hadn't occurred.

"Fourth Prince Consort, His Majesty requests your presence," Shu, who had been with the twins since they were little, felt great distress upon seeing Dao Yiken'e's injuries. "Eighth Prince, His Majesty requests that you and your consort kneel in the courtyard."

Shu didn't even glance at the Eighth Prince's wife, while Li Dequan ran back and forth, hoping to relieve Yiken'e's pain as soon as possible.

Qingyan lifted the curtain and stepped inside, gasping for breath, her eyes welling up with tears.

Yiken'e's small body lay on the dragon bed, with a huge handprint on her back. Her little face was turned weakly outward, and there was still a trace of blood at the corner of her mouth.

Hutu Lifengsheng Zhalafen was startled and stared blankly at Yikene.

“Mother… Sister!” Yiken’e’s eyes lit up when she saw Qingyan come in, but she looked at Hutuli Fengsheng Zhalafen with concern, hoping that Qingyan would comfort her sister first.

She took two steps forward and picked up her daughter.

"Don't worry, Ah Hun is alright." Qingyan repeatedly said this to her daughter.

Wow!

Fifteen minutes later, Hutuli Fengsheng Zhalafen finally burst into tears.
