At dawn, Qingyan was the first to wake up. She turned her head and saw that Yin was still fast asleep. Today was a day off, so she tiptoed over Yin's body, slipped on her embroidered shoes, and walked out of the inner chamber. Sulan heard noises inside and quickly chased Xiaosula out.
"Master!" Su Lan first bowed to Qing Yan, quickly tied her hair into a ruyi bun with a gold hairpin, and then turned and left.
"Is everything prepared?" Qingyan asked directly as the master and servant walked out of the inner hall.
Since arriving in the south, Qingyan has rarely cooked. On the one hand, she has to deal with the officials' wives and sisters-in-law. She has wasted too much time and has less time to spend with Yin and the children.
"Mm." Su Lan nodded.
The night before, Qingyan specifically instructed Sulan to prepare the ingredients so that she could prepare breakfast for Yin and the children today.
Inside the small kitchen, only the master and servant were present. Su Lan mashed the potatoes and then added some peppered chicken sauce on top, somewhat similar to the mashed potatoes served at modern KFC.
The twins loved this complementary food, and there was also a small stove next to them where millet porridge had been simmering overnight.
She made honey-glazed pork ribs, mixed them with onions and wood ear mushrooms, and several dishes of pickled vegetables made in winter.
Soon, she was busy making some fancy steamed buns. In modern times, Qingyan loved making Western pastries, and she had carefully learned how to make these kinds of pastries.
Following her instructions, the cooks in the noodle kitchen used fruit juice and... and pale pink roses appeared in their field of vision.
Su Lan could only help out from the side. These exquisite steamed buns looked very tempting. She made the pale yellow dough into the shape of roses and the purple sweet potato dough into orchids.
After she finished cooking, she immediately instructed the chefs in the kitchen to keep an eye on the pot and make sure it didn't dry out.
"Master, everything is ready." Su Lan carried a cup of warm water to the twins' room.
Yiken opened her eyes and found that the first person she saw was no longer the nanny beside her, but Qingyan. A smile instantly appeared on her little face.
After the southern tour, Yiken'e did not see her mother immediately upon waking up. Even the nannies said that her mother was very busy and was constantly bothered by the wives of officials.
Today, he and his sister are finally back under their mother's care, and he is very happy.
"Mother!" Yiken stretched out his arms and was hugged by Qingyan, who took a silk handkerchief soaked in warm water and wiped his chubby little face.
"Yiken, did you sleep well?" Qingyan asked, holding the little one and looking down at him.
Uh-huh!
Yiken nodded directly, his bright phoenix eyes fixed on her.
"If only Mother could continue to take care of us like this!" Hutulifengshengzhalafen also got up, looking at her brother being held in her mother's arms, his little hands clasped in hers, hoping that her mother could always stay by their side.
"Alright, Mother will stay with you." Su Lan took over Yi Ken'e and helped the little prince change into the prepared everyday clothes.
Qingyan held her baby daughter, who smelled of milk, and was almost melted by her warmth.
"Mother, I want to go out and play." Hutuli Fengsheng Zhalafen always remembered their trip to the suburbs.
"Okay, Father is up, let's go over there, shall we?" Qingyan remembered that Yin could take a few days off, so he should be able to go to the suburbs to rest for a few days.
“Wake up, Father!” Yiken said, clapping his hands. “We’re all up, but Father isn’t up yet. He’s too lazy.”
Pfft!
Qingyan laughed directly. Yin and Yiken'e, father and son, always got along so badly and often stared at each other.
If one person does something wrong, the other person will definitely complain.
"No, Yiken'e, Father hasn't rested for a long time, so you have to be good." Qingyan put her index finger to her lips to calm Yiken'e down. "Father is working so that you can have plenty to eat, shouldn't you let Father rest properly?"
Qingyan comforted the twins, while Yin leaned against the doorway, listening to his wife and children talking inside.
"Mother, we're going out to play. Let's wake Father up." Hutulifengshengzhalafen shook Qingyan's clothes, preparing to get his mother to give in this time.
"Father!" Yiken'e turned his head and saw Yin appear, and he greeted him with a big smile.
Yin walked in and took Yiken'e into his arms.
"Where would you like to go?" Yin also asked.
"Let's go to Guo Luomafa's villa. There, Yiken'e won't need to bring so many people and can have fun." Yiken'e rarely made requests, but today, his request made Yin very sad.
"Alright, let's go after breakfast!" Yin Qingchen got up and, not seeing Qingyan beside him, knew that they must have come to the twins' room.
After the family had finished washing up, the four of them sat down at the dining table. Hutu Lifengsheng Zhalafen noticed that there were some brightly colored steamed buns on the plate on the table.
"Ah!" Hutulifengshengzhalafen cried out, "Mother, Huahua!"
Yin also noticed that today's breakfast was different from usual.
"Little darling, you've worked hard!" Yin understood that the servants in the small kitchen dared not make flower-shaped steamed buns. Even if they wanted to please the little princess, they only put effort into the supplementary food.
"You two can have one small steamed bun." Qingyan made two sizes, the smaller one was specially made for the two children.
A bowl of millet porridge, a small steamed bun, and a bowl of mashed potatoes.
The twins ate with great satisfaction. Yin, enjoying the delicious side dishes, watched his youngest daughter eat until her face was covered in food, and a smile appeared on his usually stern face.
"Mother, I like it!" Hutulifengshengzhalafen knew that these must have been made by her mother, and she was very happy.
Qingyan smiled happily when she received her daughter's praise.
"I'll make some for you again tomorrow, okay?" Qingyan really enjoys a self-sufficient life. Unlike when he's outside, Yin doesn't act all cold and aloof; instead, he's like a doting father.
The twins nodded immediately, as they never tired of their mother's cooking.
"No, it's better not to. Just leave it to the staff. You can cook occasionally." Yin felt sorry for Qingyan and insisted that she not cook all the time.
She shook her head and said, "It's not like I make it every day. Besides, I made breakfast for my family and I was in a good mood." Qingyan didn't take it to heart.
Unable to persuade him otherwise, Yin had no choice but to compromise in the end.
Yay!
The two children stretched out their hands and cheered, knowing that their father had not won against their mother, and that they would have delicious food tomorrow.
Qingyan was delighted. The twins were now able to eat on their own. Although they would change their clothes every time they ate alone, she was still cultivating their ability to do things independently.
"You're just spoiling them. If they start supporting your cooking and sending you to study in the Imperial Study, won't you suffer?" Yin asked directly.
