Chapter 401 Assassination

With everything arranged, the three could only wait for midnight to arrive, hoping for an assassination attempt. Otherwise, their plans would have been in vain.

Fei Yanggu felt lost and paced back and forth after standing up.

Yin slowly sipped his tea, his mind blank. He hadn't come with Qiu Mi in his past life. Had his return changed everything?

"Father-in-law, you and Qingyan rest in the back for a while. I'll wait here!" Yin was worried about Qingyan and thought it was better to keep him out of sight.

Qingyan shook her head; she wanted to see the live performance!

"Fourth Brother, isn't there a screen blocking the view?" Qingyan protested. The mahogany screen in front of them meant that people outside couldn't see them at all.

"Little darling, even this screen can't stop the barbarians!" Yin sighed, thinking that his little darling should be more obedient.

Qingyan pouted, her little face tense. Listening to the sounds outside, the guards were all cautious, afraid of incurring Yin's punishment.

The inner tent was reserved for only three masters, while the outer tent was personally overseen by Yin's chief guard.

"Captain of the Guards, is the Fourth Prince really not going to come out?" The guard assigned by Kangxi looked suspiciously into the tent.

"Shut up! How dare you ask about the affairs of the masters?" Tulichen appeared at the door, Kangxi worried about the safety of Yinhe and Qingyan.

Fei Yanggu had two shadow guards personally dispatched by Emperor Kangxi to protect him at all times in case anyone tried to harm him.

"Yes." Tulichen appeared, and the guards all fell silent.

Hearing Tu Lichen's voice, Qingyan turned and ran into the innermost tent. Yin watched her graceful figure and couldn't help but smile silently.

"Fourth Prince, Lord Ulanara, His Majesty is worried about your safety." Tulichen understood that in Kangxi's heart, Feiyanggu was different from other court officials, and there were not many people he could trust. Cao Yin had changed and had completely forgotten what Kangxi had instructed him to do.

Sending Cao Yin to Jiangnan was intended to help the court control this crucial area, but unexpectedly, he not only failed to control it but also colluded with the people in Jiangnan.

"You stand here first, Yin, go check on Xiao Guai!" Fei Yanggu thought it was safest to put him in the tent.

Yin Gang was about to retort when Tu Lichen glanced at him.

"Fourth Prince, His Majesty has instructed that you and Fourth Princess Consort should not get too involved in this matter," Tu Lichen relayed Kangxi's opinion.

Yin stopped arguing and left his seat and the outer tent.

Qingyan looked up and saw Yin appear with a dark expression. She was secretly pleased. He had objected to her staying outside, and now he had been forced out too.

He sat down beside her angrily, placed her small body on his lap, and pinched her little nose with his hot, large hands.

"You brat, are you making fun of me?" Yin felt aggrieved, but Kangxi still treated him like a child.

Sometimes, I want to let him do things on his own, but I worry that there might be danger, so I quickly bring Tulichen to his side.

She quickly summoned Su Lan to bring some snacks. Fei Yanggu and Yin did not concentrate on their dinner, as they were constantly thinking about how to guard against those people.

“No, I’ll have Sulan quickly make some late-night snacks for Father and you. You might have to stay up late, and if you’re not feeling well, it will affect your thinking.” Qingyan Mi glanced at Yin.

He kissed her little face and wouldn't let go.

Later that evening, Su-lan's late-night snack didn't arrive; things were in chaos outside.

The sound of swords clashing made her eyes light up instantly.

"Don't move." When Yin saw Qingyan trying to rush out, he immediately pulled her into his arms, determined not to let the little darling run around.

Swords and blades have no eyes!

"No, I want to go and see. Fourth Brother, you're the best. Can I go and take a look?" Qingyan tugged at Yin's sleeve and pleaded.

"No!" Yin firmly objected. He could tell from the situation outside that none of the guards brought by Tulichen were weak. These men were basically Kangxi's capable lieutenants. Thinking of his sister, he was not in a good mood.

The curtain was rejected by A-Dun, but they could see the scene outside. Fei Yanggu was personally in charge, and Tu Lichen's cold expression made Qing Yan very interested.

"Those people outside are the ones who want to assassinate me?" Qingyan asked, puzzled. Didn't they say on TV that they didn't show themselves but used darts directly?

He fought alongside the guards in yellow jackets, observing their swordplay techniques, realizing that they too had learned the same martial arts.

Yinzhao discovered this matter early on and was somewhat depressed. The real culprit was either a palace concubine or one of the princes.

In just the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, more and more men in black appeared. Those who were originally keeping watch at the tent entrance turned around and came to help inside the tent. This made Qingyan very annoyed.

"Fourth Brother, don't you think these people must have come from the Imperial Guard, or been trained by them?" Qingyan said softly.

Regardless of the final answer, they all understood that the man in black had a close relationship with the Aisin Gioro family.

Yin nodded. He had observed those who were eliminated from the Imperial Guard. Some of them came from aristocratic families with connections, so they were not completely dealt with according to Kangxi's regulations. Others were favored by ministers, and those officials used money to smooth things over and get them released.

“I see it now. We should report this to Father Emperor. This matter is very serious.” Yin frowned. “With Tulichen overseeing things, there shouldn’t be any problems.”

Qingyan looked at Yin with confusion, wondering what was going on outside.

The men in black covered half their faces, revealing only their eyes, making it impossible to see their true appearances.

No wonder these people dared to brandish their weapons so recklessly. Some of the Imperial Guards have been injured, and these injured men have powerful backgrounds. Once the news of their injuries is sent back to the capital, those powerful families will certainly not let it go. Kangxi needs a better excuse to deal with the leaders of the grasslands.

Looking at the chaotic scene outside, and Fei Yanggu leisurely sipping his tea, she knew that all of this was part of Fei Yanggu's plan.

"Father-in-law has already planned this out. These people are probably just the advance team. The real assassins will arrive in an hour or two!" Yin whispered to Qingyan.

She puffed out her cheeks as she watched the men in black being killed by the imperial guards; very little blood was shed...

"They weren't killed, they were just knocked unconscious," Yin whispered to Qingyan, who gasped in surprise.

She figured that Kangxi must have secretly given the order to Fei Yanggu not to harm these men in black!

After all the men in black were taken down, the Imperial Guards suffered numerous injuries.

"Tulichen, have someone send the wounded guards back. Imperial Physician Yuan is glaring at them from their tent!" Yin hurriedly ordered Tulichen to send the wounded away.

After the wounded and sick left, the tent finally quieted down. Fei Yanggu watched as the guards lined up the men in black one by one. (To be continued. If you like this work, please vote for it on Qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please go to m.qidian.com to read.)
