Five days later at midnight, dozens of dark figures jumped out from inside the wall of the Yuelai Inn. They quietly approached the informants outside the inn and, with swift and decisive moves, took them down one by one.
As arranged by Yin and Yin, they thoughtfully arranged a comfortable sleeping position for these people.
Then, the carriage slowly drove out of the inn's courtyard. Qingyan sat awake inside the carriage. She had just coaxed Hafeng to sleep and placed him in the cradle in her space. This way, any noise outside wouldn't wake the little guy.
Inside the carriage in front, Yin Zhi was recuperating from his injury. Two days ago, Yin Zhi went out and, on his way back, inexplicably fell and injured his leg.
After examining the wound, the accompanying imperial physician reported back to Yin that the injury was clearly the result of an ambush.
"You didn't listen to advice, and now you've been tricked?" Qingyan chuckled.
When Yinzhi was injured, Dong'e Gege caused the kitchen no end of trouble, claiming it was specifically for Yinzhi's recovery. In reality, however, she just wanted to improve his living conditions.
"Are you gloating?" Yin said, pinching Qingyan's nose.
Qingyan quickly shook his head: "If I were gloating, I wouldn't have praised the people below to satisfy them."
Although she was satisfied with the matter, she still felt awkward. Those not hot were kept being sent to Yinzhi's courtyard. Yinsi and Jueluo wanted to follow suit, but Yinzhi said that he could get extra treatment, or because Yinzhi needed to recuperate.
"After we return to the capital, I will have the Imperial Household Department calculate the extra cost. Little darling, you should also make sure the shopkeeper records how much silver is needed for each item, and if there's no need for a discount!" Yin promised.
The carriage moved slowly forward, and Qingyan looked at the clear sky outside the window, feeling completely relaxed.
After leaving the county town, Qingyan took two deep breaths and let the fresh air in through the open window.
"Fourth Prince, has the carriage slowed down?" Qingyan asked, looking at Yin.
Yin nodded. This was also Yin's idea. During their few days of rest, they contacted the teams of Kangxi and the Crown Prince. It turned out that these two teams were actually moving slower than them.
"Yes, we're moving faster now." Yin squeezed Qingyan's small hand.
Now, the carriage procession has been disguised as a merchant corps, and even the guards protecting them on both sides have changed out of their Real Madrid costumes and into civilian clothes.
To outsiders, their caravan is nothing more than a wealthy family's merchant caravan.
"Haven't Father Emperor and the Crown Prince arrived yet?" Qingyan couldn't understand what Kangxi was thinking, that he had actually divided the princes into three groups.
"Hehe, this is just a test. We've all been attacked, only the Crown Prince's group hasn't been attacked yet." Yin looked towards the roadside, where there were many small blankets. He tilted his head, looking at the blankets to see if there was anything Qingyan liked.
"Su Peisheng, go buy some apricots!" Yin noticed some yellow, sweet apricots on a roadside stall. These were Qingyan's favorites, and it was rare to see them fresh.
Su Peisheng got off the carriage and hurried to the stall. He bought a small basket of coins and then rushed back to the caravan.
After washing herself clean with water from her water bag, Su Lan took the small basket and went into the carriage.
"Master, they've all been washed clean!" Qingyan took a yellow apricot, took a bite, and found it to be very sweet.
"Sisi, if we take this route back, let's buy some fruit to take back to the capital." Qingyan likes to eat these fresh fruits. Many of the fruits presented to the palace were transported to the capital from the south, which caused some delays.
Pfft!
Yin immediately chuckled: "We're coming back to go to the capital with Father Emperor, so of course we won't take the same route!"
Qingyan considered it briefly and agreed with Yin's assessment. This country road was an easy place to set up an ambush. If Kangxi's imperial carriage were to travel through here, and someone with ulterior motives found out, they would definitely try to intercept it.
"I wonder how the children are doing!" Qingyan looked at Xing and thought of Hutuli Fengsheng Zhalafen, that little girl's tastes were very similar to hers.
"It should be good. These past few days, Father Emperor and Mother Emperor have both sent me gifts. Yiken'e is very capable, taking good care of my older and younger sisters!" Yin laughed.
Ahhh!
When Hafeng heard Yin mention Yiken'e, he quickly spoke up, as if he didn't want his parents to ignore him.
"You brat, you're awake?" Yin picked up Hafeng from the chariot beside him.
Except at night, when Yin would have Qingyan put his youngest son inside the space, Yin would leave the child outside during the day.
Qingyan smiled slightly. When Hafenga was put into the space, she would adjust the time to prevent any trouble.
"Come on, have some porridge first!" Qingyan specially asked Sulan to cook porridge so that the little guy could drink it as soon as he woke up.
Today, Hafenga's breakfast was meat porridge. His eyes sparkled as he looked at the porcelain spoon in Qingyan's hand, waving his little paws anxiously and making "ah ah ah" noises.
"The little guy still has a short temper!" Yin couldn't help but laugh at his youngest son's behavior.
"Isn't it just like you?" Qingyan tasted the porridge, and when it was at the right temperature, she fed it to Hafeng'a spoonful by spoonful.
Hafenga didn't care what his parents were saying; in his eyes, nothing was more important than meat porridge.
"Foodie!" Yin looked at his youngest son with affection. Yiken'e was very envious of Hafeng, who not only had the careful care of his parents, but also didn't have to learn so many things.
"Alright, Hafeng'a is eating, don't tease him." Qingyan glared at Yin.
Yin nodded. He was powerless to refute Qingyan's statement, acknowledging that he was in the wrong.
"How many days has it been since you last ate?" Yin asked, looking at the little guy slurping his food.
"Before leaving the capital, I instructed the nanny beside him to give him some easily digestible porridge in addition to breastfeeding. Has he not been eating any of it?" Hafeng'a was not like this before.
Yin shook his head, but his expression turned sour. Those old women must have been outwardly compliant but inwardly defiant; otherwise, Hafenga wouldn't have acted this way.
"Shall we investigate?" Qingyan asked.
"Yes, let's investigate those nannies thoroughly. Our two sons are the same; let's try to keep as few nannies around them as possible!" Yin said with emotion.
Yiken'e and Hafeng'a had no liking for nannies. Even the governesses around Hutulifengsheng Zhalafen were chosen by her. Now, the entire family of the wet nurses were in Hutulifengsheng Zhalafen's hands. This was an extra benefit given to her by Kangxi and Consort Tong.
