The Forbidden City in the middle of the first month of the 21st year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign.
Tiny, light snowflakes, like willow catkins, drifted down from the sky, falling one by one, like white feathers fluttering in the air.
It looks incredibly romantic, but our protagonist, Duofu, doesn't feel romantic at all.
The ground and rooftops of the Forbidden City were covered with a thick layer of white. Stepping inside felt like entering a frozen wasteland, and Duofu's mood was as cold as ice.
From a distance, several gray-white dots could be seen moving rapidly on the streets inside the palace walls.
With a sharp, piercing scream, the gray dot moved even faster.
"Hurry up, hurry up, everyone get running! If you delay our business, how many heads do you have?"
As the eunuchs entered the animal park, it immediately became lively.
Duofu, in its cage, wagged its short, slightly curled tail and looked around with its wide-open, round eyes, observing the unusually lively atmosphere in the animal park today, where eunuchs and palace maids were all busy with their tasks.
Could some important person be coming? The thought filled me with energy. I had to seize the opportunity to leave this awful place.
Duofu, his face streaked with tears, recalled that in the week he had been here, he had realized that he had transmigrated, possibly to the Kangxi era, and become an unknown little puppy.

Duofu's clear, bright eyes widened in shock. "Damn it, isn't that your fur?" he cried. "It doesn't hurt!" All the fur on his body stood on end, and he backed away with his hind paws. The cleaning eunuch glanced at him but didn't think much of it. He finished his work, locked the cage, and left.
"Clean thoroughly for our family. The Imperial Concubine will be here to choose her pets soon, so be careful if anything unexpected happens. Your fur is precious."
Looking at the elderly eunuch standing in the middle of the garden, dressed in a blue eunuch's robe and holding a whisk in his hand, he spoke in a sharp voice.
Duofu lay sprawled on the carpet, its tail wagging involuntarily, its big eyes darting around, and its head filled with question marks.
Which imperial concubine? Is she a concubine during the Kangxi era? Is it Consort Tong?
He only knew about this one imperial concubine, and that was mostly thanks to the Qing Dynasty dramas he'd been watching in recent years. He knew a little about Consort Tong, the Fourth Prince, Consort De, and so on. As for the others, who knows?
As a science student, I stopped studying history in my first year of high school and had no interest in it. Who would think about how many wives an emperor had?
I'm so angry! Why did they have to send him through time? And to the Qing Dynasty no less!
