Chapter 138 Sparkling Toys

It wasn't until three months later that Duofu discovered that a woman had entered the Fourth Prince's backyard.

It's really a sad thing to talk about.

The Fourth Prince was already of marriageable age, but he still looked like a four or five-year-old baby.

Back then, he was a young man of seventeen or eighteen, and in a few more years he could have found a wife.

Duofu lamented that people of the same kind have different fates.

The Fourth Prince, who is not even fifteen years old yet, has already started to focus on women.

I'm not afraid of not being able to keep up when I get old.

When the Fourth Prince returns tonight, he must give him a good talking-to. He should focus on his career at such a young age and be less interested in women.

Duofu thought about going to the garden today. In the east courtyard, he saw two women who were not dressed as palace maids. They were not very old, probably around fifteen or sixteen years old. One of them was voluptuous and plump, while the other was beautiful and refined. They each had their own unique beauty.

The Fourth Prince is quite lucky with women at such a young age.

He hasn't even married the first wife yet, and he's already taken two concubines.

These are all remnants of feudalism, remnants of feudalism!

Duofu's eyes were practically overflowing with envy. When he was in college, he had never seen such beautiful upperclassmen and underclassmen.

The Fourth Prince was assigned a position directly; it's said that it was sent from Consort De's palace.

It seems that Consort De does not want to let go of the Fourth Prince, who is becoming an increasingly useful tool.

Duofu's eyes were filled with sighs. No wonder she was someone who could rise from a palace maid to a concubine; she had no shame whatsoever.

One second they can completely disregard someone, and the next they can act as if nothing happened and become close again.

Duofu thought for a moment and realized that the fourteenth prince, raised by Consort De, should be about the same age as him, probably four or five years old.

This is like the younger son not being mature enough yet, but she's already trying to grab the older son first. Doesn't she realize that the older son's heart doesn't even have a little bit of affection for her?

They're not afraid of turning against each other and making things awkward.

However, putting everything else aside, Consort De, of the Uya clan, had impeccable taste. The two princesses she chose each had their own merits, and judging from their figures, one could tell at a glance that they were good at bearing children.

Is she hoping that the Fourth Prince will have a son soon so that she can use a grandson to mend the relationship between mother and son?

Duofu imagined seeing the two princesses in the east courtyard.

When he grows up, he wants to ask the Fourth Prince to find him someone just as good-looking. He doesn't ask for much; he just wants someone gentle, virtuous, and with a good personality, and most importantly, someone good-looking.

Now that I've practically been raised like a son by the Fourth Prince, it's not unreasonable for him to help me find a wife and have children!

Duofu was feeling quite pleased with himself. He ate the pastries in his hand, taking only a few bites here and there. After patting the remaining pastries off his hand, Duofu went to his toy corner and started playing with his toys.

Duofu first picked up his precious slingshot and blew on it. Looking at the golden slingshot, a few small white teeth were revealed.

His slingshot was specially made of gold; it was hollow inside and not heavy at all, so he could lift it without any effort.

After years of training, his accuracy has become excellent; it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he hits the bullseye every time.

Duofu looked at the row of gold and jewel toy cars on the ground and grinned from ear to ear.

Each car was different, but they were all made of gold and jewels. The Fourth Prince had drawn them for him based on his description and sent someone to ask the Imperial Household Department to make them.

Of course, you have to provide the materials yourself.

These palm-sized gold and gemstone cars gleamed in the sunlight, their golden sheen quite beautiful.

It's so good that just one glance at it when you're feeling down will cheer you up.

Each vehicle is purely weight-bearing, absolutely no water added, and feels very heavy in your hand.

Duofu's favorite toys are these dozen or so toy cars. Not only are they expensive, but when arranged in a row, they can keep him, a grown man, entertained for an entire morning.

Not at all childish, they were having a great time playing on the warm blanket.

He also had all sorts of other toys, such as spinning tops, tangrams, Kongming locks, nine-linked rings, rattles, and bamboo horses.

He inherited all of the Fourth Prince's childhood toys, and he always seems to have a great time. I never feel bored.

Especially after learning that the Fourth Prince's studies were becoming increasingly demanding, Duofu was very satisfied with his current life.

He did want to advise the Fourth Prince, but he had nowhere to say it; you can't stop someone from striving for success!

You can't stop someone from being ambitious and hardworking just because you want to be a couch potato.

Moreover, his current good life is all thanks to the favored Fourth Prince.

Duofu could only remind the Fourth Prince to take care of his health and to exercise regularly. He should learn to maintain his health from a young age, otherwise, if the Fourth Prince fell ill, who would provide him with a good life?

He knew that a good day makes every day good, and a good life makes everything good.

The Fourth Prince cannot die young; he must live to be a hundred years old.

At least Duofu felt that he had to die first, otherwise he couldn't bear the pain of losing his pet owner.

The Fourth Prince pushed open the door and entered the room, where he saw a chubby baby sitting on the carpet, holding a small gold and gemstone car in one hand, grinning from ear to ear.

The Fourth Prince really couldn't understand why his son, Duofu, liked such mundane things.

Gold, silver, and all sorts of luminous gemstones.

That's incredibly tacky.

They don't resemble the children he raised at all.

In the Fourth Prince's view, the son he raised should like books, or at the very least like poetry and songs like his Third Brother, which would at least make him seem refined.

His family is very fortunate; that's all he can say.

Greedy.

He can't tell whether someone is lecherous or not at such a young age.

However, he did indeed prefer to be served by good-looking people, and he completely ignored those eunuchs and palace maids who were not good-looking.

The Fourth Prince gave a wry smile; it seemed he wasn't suited to raising children.

But every time I try to teach Duofu to study hard, his big, bright eyes are simply unfair; they seem to speak, staring at you without blinking.

It makes you unable to resist softening your heart, and once your heart softens, you will never be able to keep a straight face and teach him to read again.

The Fourth Prince sometimes thought about making all those books into the shape of gold leaves, with words engraved on them indicating what Duofu had learned, and then giving those gold leaves to Duofu.

That way he'd at least be willing to learn, but after thinking about it, I felt incredibly foolish.

Deep down, I dismissed that idea.

How can sacred books be combined with such monetary items?

When Duofu heard someone open the door and smelled the familiar scent coming from outside, he turned around and gave a big smile.

The Fourth Prince's heart softened a bit more. His family was so blessed, why should he suffer the hardship of studying? He could just eat, drink, and have fun. Look how happy he is now.

Duofu quickly arranged his toy cars, each one bathed in the glow of the setting sun, perfectly matching the atmosphere of the Forbidden City.

Elegant and refined.
