Chapter 147 Barbecue All-in-One Service

After a bumpy ride, Duofu finally saw a glimpse of the grassland. Looking through the curtain, he saw an endless expanse of green, seemingly without end, lush and beautiful.

However, Duofu no longer has the energy to jump around. He is sickly and has almost lost his spirit.

He has shrunk from a large gas cylinder to a small one. The journey took about a month, during which he used up almost all the meat he had raised in the Forbidden City.

Upon arrival, the group quickly set up camp, and the princes went with Kangxi to meet the Mongol nobles.

Su Peisheng was left behind to take care of Duofu. The Fourth Prince was really worried about the sickly Duofu being taken care of by others. He felt more at ease with Su Peisheng, whom he was comfortable with. After all, Su Peisheng had taken care of Duofu since he was a child and had that much experience.

Duofu waved his paw listlessly, indicating that he was still in control and told the Fourth Prince to hurry up and attend to his own business.

Su Peisheng found the tent belonging to the Fourth Prince among a row of tents, picked up Duofu and went inside. He instructed his servants to tidy up the things in the carriage so that they could be easily retrieved later.

Lying on the solid, soft cushion, Duofu finally felt his body stop swaying so much. He didn't know how he had survived for the past month or so.

He never expected that the dog would get carsick and have no appetite at all, which was a huge blow to him.

For a foodie, not being allowed to eat is worse than killing him.

This is pretty much how Duofu feels this month. Even though there are all sorts of jerky around his mouth, it makes him feel nauseous. It's just utterly inhumane.

Like a roast duck, Duofu lay lazily on the white cushion with its four paws outstretched and its rear end sticking up.

The feeling of my body being completely in contact with the ground was wonderful, so real.

Seeing that his little darling had finally fallen into a deep sleep, Su Peisheng quickly gave a fierce look to the servants below, signaling them to be quiet and not to wake up the little darling who had finally fallen asleep.

The young master has had a difficult time lately, and his time with the Fourth Prince has also been tough.

His master always has a cold face, which is really stressful.

Su Peisheng said he couldn't bear it either.

It's not a matter of adapting, it's that we simply can't adapt.

Su Peisheng's legs trembled as he thought about the days he had spent in the carriage.

The young master was unwell and looked gloomy. His master was anxious and furious all day long, but there was nothing he could do on the road. He had to follow His Majesty's orders and hurry on the way.

His master always had a cold face towards him, and the coldness emanating from him was like a blast of ice. His eyes were becoming increasingly emotionless as he looked at him. Su Peisheng was worried that the Fourth Prince would drag him out of the carriage and behead him.

He never wanted to be so close, for so long, in such a small space again, to endure his master's murderous gaze once more.

Fortunately, Duofu recovered quickly in the following days and no longer experienced the weightlessness he felt in the carriage.

Duofu has returned to its former self, a little gas cylinder that can eat, sleep, run, and drink.

On the vast grasslands, Duofu has been eating mostly roasted meat lately: roasted lamb, roasted rabbit, roasted pheasant, and all sorts of roasted meats.

Even the most gluttonous person like Duofu will get tired of the same food, and since they all taste pretty much the same, he's been eating too much meat lately and not enough vegetables and fruits.

Good luck, I've already grown two big, round freckles on my lips.

The Fourth Prince wasn't surprised, but he also had a few. He ate roasted meat almost every day on the grasslands, so it would be strange if he didn't get a sore throat.

Duofu lay bored in the tent; he couldn't go anywhere now.

The Fourth Prince has been busy accompanying Emperor Kangxi to meet with various Mongol nobles these past few days, and has had no time to come back and take him out to play.

Moreover, there are many people and eyes outside the tent. He could run into someone of higher status than the Fourth Prince every few steps. He would find it difficult to move an inch outside. He was afraid that some Mongolian child would grab him and roast him like meat.

Although Duofu was eager to go out, he cherished his life and stayed obediently in the tent, staring longingly at the door, hoping that the Fourth Prince would finish his work soon and take him out to play.

Otherwise, all the suffering he endured along the way would have been for nothing. If he had just come to the grassland tent and lay down, what kind of trip would he have made?

No matter how much Duofu hoped, the Fourth Prince, despite being a bald prince, was extremely busy these past few days, as he had to get to know various Mongolian ministers in front of the Crown Prince Kangxi.

I really don't have the time right now to take Duofu out for a stroll.

Having been on the grassland for over half a month, Duofu resignedly ate the roasted vegetables in his mouth, speechless. Why hadn't he brought along a few skilled imperial chefs?

This is so awful! He's been eating barbecue every day, he can't take it anymore. He just wants to go back to the Forbidden City and lie down.

"I'll never come out with you again," Duofu thought bitterly. "Is this the kind of life a human being should live?"

Duofu noticed a box of gems next to his toy car. It contained all sorts of gems from Mongolia, in various colors and sizes, and they looked beautiful in the sunlight.

This was the only truly satisfying gain from my trip to the Duofu Grassland.

Duofu glanced at his jewel box with a somewhat greedy look. Of course, this box of jewels was a gift from a Mongolian nobleman to the Fourth Prince, and naturally ended up in Duofu's hands under the onslaught of Duofu's big eyes.

Duofu, filled with bitterness and hatred, bit down hard on the vegetable leaf in his mouth. He didn't want to eat roasted vegetables anymore; he wanted steamed, stewed, or stir-fried vegetables—he just didn't want to eat this kind of primitive food.

The Fourth Prince walked in from outside, looking travel-worn. He couldn't help but laugh when he saw Duofu lying in a ball on the blanket, looking aggrieved.

He's been really busy lately and hasn't had a chance to take his son, Duofu, to run on the grasslands.

He had almost finished his business and could arrange his own affairs for the next few days, as long as his father, the Emperor, did not summon him.

The Fourth Prince looked at Duofu, who had turned his back to him as soon as he entered the room, and with a smile in his eyes, he picked up the big lump of a child throwing a tantrum on the ground.

Despite the poor food over the past two weeks, Duofu has still gained a lot of weight.

"Still throwing a tantrum? I have time today, I'll take you hunting later."

When Duofu heard that he was being taken hunting, he ignored Duofu's hasty temper and immediately turned his face towards him, barking excitedly.

The Fourth Prince, leading his shadow dog, ran off without any guards or servants, just the four of them—himself, his dog, and his horse.

The Fourth Prince originally intended to just wander around the area, not going to places that were too far or too dangerous, and that he wouldn't have any problems without his guards and servants.
