Chapter 20 Strolling through Emperor Kangxi's Imperial Garden

At midday, when the sun was shining brightly, the Fourth Prince, Yinzhen, having finished his morning studies, decided to take his son, Duofu, for a stroll in the Imperial Garden during the lunch break.

So that he wouldn't think he was raising a miniature pig, eating and sleeping a lot.

He had a very poor experience of owning a dog. Although it was his first time owning a dog, he felt that other people's experience of owning a dog must be different.

Could it be because he was raising a little monster? Look at Duofu, who was squatting not far from the brazier, fast asleep.

It feels like Duofu has gained weight after only a short period of time.

Although it is still small overall, it has grown significantly larger than before.

We had just finished lunch not long ago, and at this time of day, there are usually not many people in the Imperial Garden.

Fourth Prince Yinzhen walked over to Duofu, who was snoring softly, bent down, and picked up the little puppy from the ground with both hands.

Duofu was half asleep when he tried to open his eyes, but when he smelled the familiar scent of green bamboo, he closed his eyes again.

Duofu yawned slightly, grabbed his clothes with both paws, and moved his chubby body in the arms of the Fourth Prince Yinzhen, finding a comfortable position, and continued his sweet dream.

The Fourth Prince, Yinzhen, chuckled with a mischievous grin and shook Duofu in his arms.

"Duoduo, wake up."

"Get up quickly, I'll take you out for some fresh air."

...

Duofu, impatiently listening to the Fourth Prince Yinzhen's nagging near his mouth and ears, stretched out his paw and patted the soft flesh under the cushion, signaling the Fourth Prince Yinzhen to be quiet and not disturb his sleep.

The Fourth Prince, Yinzhen, saw the little puppy in his arms whimpering and refusing to open its eyes.

He lifted his leg and stepped out of the room. A gust of cold wind blew outside, and Duofu couldn't help but shiver.

Why do I feel a bit cold?

That shouldn't be the case.

He was wearing a whole coat of fur.

Duofu stretched out its paw and ruffled its thick, warm fur.

The sun is shining brightly outside, and there's no light snow yet, making it the perfect time to go for a stroll.

Duofu looked at the Fourth Prince Yinzhen with anticipation, his tightly closed eyes wide open, his fox-like eyes filled with stars.

The Fourth Prince, Yinzhen, recently felt that he had grown taller and stronger, and carrying the chubby Duofu was effortless for him.

The Fourth Prince, Yinzhen, looked down at Duofu in his arms, and their eyes met. Yinzhen couldn't help but feel joy in his eyes.

"I'll take you for a walk in the Imperial Garden, then we can go back to sleep."

"Look at you lately, you've gained a lot of weight."

“My mother joked last time that she thought she was raising a little pig for me. It eats and sleeps, and after sleeping, it gets up and eats again. It just doesn’t like to go out. She said that the little pets kept in other palaces like to run around everywhere.”

Upon hearing this, Duofu happily stretched out its paw and patted the arm of the Fourth Prince, Yinzhen, but being small, it didn't have much strength.

"Where am I fat? I'm not even as big as a basketball now."

"Can't you talk properly? I'm still growing, so I should eat more and sleep more."

"So that it can grow well and develop well."

“I can’t be like you, who has the worst grades in physical education class among all your brothers.”

"I heard that when you grow up, you can only draw the bow four and a half times. I don't know if it's true or not."

"If it's true, it must be because you don't like to eat or sleep like me that you're so frail."

Whenever Duofu thought about how the grown-up Fourth Prince Yinzhen could only draw that small bow and arrow among his brothers, his eyes would narrow and his face would be full of smiles.

The Fourth Prince, Yinzhen, looked at Duofu, who had just been angry, and in the blink of an eye, his whole body was filled with smiles. He didn't know why.

However, the Fourth Prince Yinzhen did not think much of it and continued to carry Duofu toward the Imperial Garden.

Duofu looked at the Imperial Garden, which was full of snow. Apart from a few evergreen trees, all the other plants were withered and there was nothing to see.

Winter in the Forbidden City is so cold.

The sky was covered in snow, and only occasionally could a glimpse of green be seen beneath the white blankets.

However, this did not disturb Duofu's mood. Duofu followed the Fourth Prince Yinzhen, running in the snow and crossing the snow-covered grass. Duofu ran east and west.

He planned to work on his precious body; this puppy-like physique was hard-won, and he had to cherish it.

Although it is not in human form, at least it has all four limbs intact and can eat, drink, and sleep.

If you were given a second chance at life, you wouldn't be so picky.

Within the Fourth Prince Yinzhen's sight, Duofu waved its limbs and paws, its bulging belly protruding, and its tail wagging involuntarily.

It's like a villain who's bullying others by relying on his master's power, swaggering around in the street.

Before he had even run for a quarter of an hour, Duofu was already tired. His four paws were no longer under his control, and he slumped weakly on the snow. His tail could no longer wag and hung limply.

Duofu absolutely refuses to admit that he is too weak.

It must be because the weather is too cold now, and walking outside burns too much calories.

It's easy to get tired.

Yes, that must be it.

Duofu lay motionless on the ground, waiting for someone to pick him up.

Looking at the Fourth Prince Yinzhen not far away, Duofu whimpered a few times, telling the Fourth Prince Yinzhen to come and hug him, because he couldn't walk anymore and wanted to go back for his afternoon nap.

It can only be said that the Imperial Garden in winter is not very attractive to Duofu now.
