Chapter 224 Familiar Places I Love the Most

Crown Prince Yinreng carefully examined Duofu, who was being held in the arms of the Fourth Prince. Duofu seemed to have gotten fatter than before, and his eyes were still as stupid as ever. And why was there dust on his fur?

This one gets uglier as it grows up. The one he kept back then is now quite majestic.

Unlike this one, which seems like it will never grow up. Luckily, it was given away back then, otherwise, keeping it with him would be a disgrace to him.

Thinking of this, Crown Prince Yinreng's smile became more genuine. Recently, his father, the Emperor, had been increasingly strict with him, which was driving him crazy.

Even though they're all out in public, they still keep such a close watch on him, making his position as crown prince seem anything but prestigious.

When he was young, Crown Prince Yinreng did not realize anything was wrong. He thought that his father was afraid that something would happen to him, so he sent people to protect him.

Now that he's getting older, his father, the Emperor, is monitoring him more and more closely. Is this really raising a crown prince?

Sometimes, Crown Prince Yinreng even envied his younger brother, who, although not favored, at least lived a freer life than him.

Unlike him, who was trapped in the palace, his crown prince palace became increasingly crowded with the growing number of people, and was not at all as large as the mansions his younger brothers had built outside the palace.

Crown Prince Yinreng comforted himself from the bottom of his heart, thinking that it was only because he was favored that he was still kept in the Forbidden City by his father, the Emperor, even at such an old age.

Although his position was somewhat low, his favor remained undiminished, and to this day, none of his younger brothers have been able to surpass him.

He managed to suppress his frustration; otherwise, being constantly controlled by his imperial father would drive him crazy.

Sometimes he envied his fourth brother. Although he also didn't have a mother and wasn't favored by the Emperor, his fourth brother lived a very comfortable life.

He opened his own shop outside the palace and was in charge of his own affairs. His father, the Emperor, didn't have the time to interfere in the affairs of his own residence.

But the crown prince is different. If he stays in one room for too long, his father, the emperor, will send someone to tell him to spread his favors evenly.

He felt that all the servants in his palace were his father's eyes, watching his every move.

The older I get, the more I feel, especially since I've been exposed to power, I've disliked such constraints even more.

I wonder how long he will remain the crown prince before he becomes emperor.

He has been the crown prince for over a decade now, and he's getting a little tired of it.

Crown Prince Yinreng thought about all this in the blink of an eye. When he came to his senses, he saw the dog in his arms rubbing against his fourth brother's hand, its mouth full of drool.

Crown Prince Yinreng was somewhat incredulous. He had known since childhood about his fourth brother's obsession with cleanliness, and the fact that he could just hold this dirty mongrel dog seemed unbelievable to him.

Now, this rustic dog is licking his hands until they're soaked with water. Crown Prince Yinreng feels that his fourth brother doesn't really care that much about the dog.

He knew his junior brother was loyal to him, so there was no need for him to act this way.

Crown Prince Yinreng's voice was somewhat terrified. Not only his fourth brother had a cleanliness obsession, but he did too. Seeing that dirty saliva made him feel uncomfortable all over, even though it wasn't on his hands but on his fourth brother's.

At that moment, for some reason, he felt a sense of empathy. He looked at his own hands, which were holding the teacup, and thankfully they were clean and dry.

"Fourth brother, you don't need to spoil this dog so much. Your second brother knows your heart."

A hint of surprise flashed in the Fourth Prince's eyes, but after a moment's thought, he realized that the Crown Prince had misunderstood.

The Fourth Prince smiled slightly and said, "Second Brother Crown Prince, I truly like him. Although it was partly due to the fact that you gave me the dog, I've raised him for so many years and I've developed a bond with him. I think he's wonderful in every way."

Duofu, who had been looking a little unhappy, suddenly perked up when he heard his owner say that everything about him was good.

This Crown Prince has no taste at all. He didn't gain favor because of him.

He is clearly so outstanding that his pet owner loves him to death and can't live without him.

This Crown Prince is far too narcissistic.

Crown Prince Yinreng felt a little better when he saw his fourth brother wipe his hands with a handkerchief, but he still couldn't believe it: "You usually raise it like this, holding it like this and letting it lick your hands. I remember you have a cleanliness obsession, don't you?"

It's illogical that someone who's a clean freak would suddenly lose that quality in this dog!

If it were his dog, he wouldn't even want to hug it. Look at its drab yellow fur; apart from its silly eyes, which are somewhat cute, he doesn't see anything pleasing about it.

At most, he would tell the eunuchs serving him not to let the animal die, and that was only when he was in a good mood.

The Fourth Prince wiped the drool from Duofu's mouth with a handkerchief, his voice gentle: "My little brother likes to be raised like this, Second Prince, you don't understand."

Crown Prince Yinreng's lips twitched. He didn't understand. What didn't he understand?

He's seven or eight years older than his fourth brother, and he knows more about everything than him.

Isn't it just a hobby? What don't you understand?

It's as if he doesn't have any hobbies, but he's definitely not that bad.

Even if he liked it, he would never wipe someone else's drool; he found it disgusting.

Crown Prince Yinreng quickly changed the subject; he didn't want to waste time on this stupid dog.

The reason I called my fourth brother over today is to have him quickly come up with a way to get under Father Emperor's nose.

Take all the handsome men he's collected these past few days back to the palace. His father is keeping a close eye on him now; he even sent a group of men away for him a while ago.

He just didn't understand why all the high-ranking officials in the court could be supported.
