Chapter 5 Threats are Innate

"Yes, yes, I understand, please spare my ears."

Duofu opened his tearful, fox-like eyes and looked at the Fourth Prince with a pitiful expression.

Ouch, that hurts! You have no idea how strong you are. I never expected you to be so strong when you look so small.

Duofu kept complaining in his heart, "You've really not gained all this fat for nothing."

Even if he nods, can you understand him?

Hmph

The Fourth Prince, looking at the struggling ear in his hand and the fox-like eyes filled with tears, was at a loss for what to do and quickly tried to coax it.

"Duoduo, don't be angry. I saw that you liked eating these so much today, so I'll have the imperial kitchen make them for you again tomorrow."

Duofu turned his face away, looking disdainful. He was the kind of person who would bow his head if there was food to be had; Duofu really looked down on him.

Duofu licked his lips, as if savoring something.

But seriously, the meatballs I made today tasted really good. If I make a hundred or two tomorrow, maybe they'll forgive me.

"As a pet owner, you're doing a terrible job. Who gave you permission to grab my ears?"

A series of soft, babyish barks rang out.

Seeing that Duofu had responded to him again, the Fourth Prince felt that Duofu had forgiven him. His hand unconsciously reached out and touched Duofu's head, stroking it downwards.

Duofu felt a soft and comfortable sensation and did not refuse the Fourth Prince's service.

The Fourth Prince stared intently at Duofu with his two phoenix eyes.

"Duoduo, can you understand what I'm saying? If you can, please nod twice, okay?"

With his eyes closed, Duofu was so comfortable from the Fourth Prince's stroking that his consciousness was becoming a little hazy. Hearing the Fourth Prince's words, he unconsciously nodded twice.

Then Duofu was suddenly stunned.

What? He nodded twice? He just nodded a few times. Now, can he nod twice more?

Ancient feudal superstitions were extremely serious. If someone thought I was a monster, they would have burned me to death.

Duofu stared at the Fourth Prince with its two big, frightened eyes, not moving an inch. What should he do? What should he do? No, he shouldn't scare himself. The Fourth Prince is so young, what could he possibly understand?

All that could be seen was the Fourth Prince on one side, his face full of surprise, an expression of disbelief.

"Duoduo, you really understand. I just wanted to test whether the story I overheard from the palace maid was true."

"Then tell me, can you transform into a human like a fox demon to repay your master?"

Duofu looked utterly hopeless. He couldn't help but feel that the Fourth Prince next to him, despite his young age, was already quite extraordinary.

Does this really mean that the five- or six-year-old children in the palace are no longer innocent and ignorant toddlers?

He's in his twenties, yet he can't beat a five-year-old.

As long as he refuses to admit it, no one can do anything about it.

Duofu stared at the Fourth Prince with eyes full of questions. He was there, but what was wrong? He just wouldn't respond to the Fourth Prince anymore.

The Fourth Prince, standing to the side, had a cunning look in his phoenix eyes, and slowly uttered a few words.

"It turns out that what the palace maids said was true. As soon as they were discovered, they would pretend that they couldn't understand human speech."

Duofu froze, his eyes glazed over, feeling his stomach grow too full, and sensing that his life was about to end.

The five- or six-year-old children in the palace can hardly be described as children; they are far from being children. No wonder they have a father who became emperor at the age of eight; their genes are truly excellent.

Little meat bun, you acted so innocent and naive during the day, but now that no one's around, you're like a cunning fox, so wicked!

Duofu lay on the leather, his eyes closed, his paws wrapped around his head, looking like a monk chanting sutras, refusing to listen.

Anyway, as long as he doesn't admit it, he can still take the little meat buns; there's nothing I can do about it.

Duofu thought his passive resistance would surely succeed, but little did he expect to encounter the clever and quick-witted Fourth Prince.

The Fourth Prince patted Duofu's head, trying to get him to open his eyes. When that didn't work, he resorted to force. People from the Aisin Gioro family are born with the ability to threaten others.

"If you don't open your eyes, I'll tell Mother tomorrow that I want to get a different one."

What.

Upon hearing the Fourth Prince's words, Duofu jumped up in a panic and let out an angry shout.

"You pet owner, how dare you threaten your master? This is outrageous! I've only had one day of good life. Do you know how to care for animals? Do you know that you can't abandon your master?"

Duofu jumped around in a fit of rage, his angry little face quite comical. His big fox eyes bulged into round bulges, and his pointed ears twitched wildly on his head to express the protagonist's dissatisfaction.

Seeing that Duofu was finally willing to pay attention to him, the Fourth Prince's thin lips curled up slightly, and his two phoenix eyes stared intently at Duofu's fox-like eyes, full of threat.

"If you can understand what I'm saying, nod your head twice and blink twice."

"If I do it wrong, I really want to eat braised puppy. Mother, you will definitely grant my wish."

That wretched little meat bun! I never expected it to look so innocent but be so wicked inside.

Didn't they say they'd send him back? How come he can't even save his life now?

Duofu nodded twice, looking displeased. His fox-like eyes were full of grievance as he looked at the Fourth Prince's threatening gaze. He then unconsciously smacked his eyes twice.

Just as Duofu was about to burst into tears, he heard the Fourth Prince promising him a whole host of benefits, such as the Imperial Kitchen making lots and lots of meatballs for him tomorrow, building him a huge nest, and providing him with whatever he wanted to eat in the future.
