Chapter 2 The Eight Characters Clash

The Fourth Prince raised an eyebrow and glanced at Li Tiao, whose hand was resting on his shoulder. He then held her hand intimately and asked with concern, "Why are your hands so cold?"

Startled, Li Tiao quickly shook off the Fourth Prince's hand. Then, disregarding whether the branding iron on her waist was still there, she suddenly stood up, took a few steps back, and increased the distance between herself and the Fourth Prince.

"What's wrong? Are you afraid of me?"

The Fourth Prince remained unhurried, as if he were talking about someone else's affairs, showing no excitement whatsoever for his wedding night.

After Li Tiao stopped, she realized again that she had overreacted and quickly thought of how to make amends.

After quickly going through all the options in her mind, she felt it was best to maintain the persona of being jealous and possessive.

So, suppressing the goosebumps, she spoke again in a voice as innocent as a delicate flower: "Replying to Your Highness, I should not, being of lowly status, express any dissatisfaction in your presence. However, today is my joyous occasion, and if Your Highness were to go to another room..."

"That's true, but I do have a way."

When Li Tiao, the Fourth Prince, said this, her eyes sparkled, but seeing the Fourth Prince's calm and collected demeanor, she suppressed her excitement a little. "Your Highness, what method is it?"

"As I just said, Yunhui looks remarkably like you. Having two people who look so alike by your side isn't exactly auspicious."

Li Tiao was stunned for a moment, then suddenly realized: "Does Master mean for me to run away quietly?"

The Fourth Prince looked at Li Tiao with a half-smile, said nothing, stood up, and left.

They're leaving already?!

Li Tiao's thoughts wandered, and she felt that what the Fourth Prince had just said was a message telling her to get lost!

Very well, you're not even willing to serve me anymore.

Seeing the auspicious robes she was wearing, Li Tiao was troubled. Her hair was also too complicated to handle, so she resignedly called her maid to help her take it off.

Sitting in front of the dressing mirror, passively letting her maid Chunxi take her hair down, Li Tiao pondered her predicament.

Her family had little to do with Li Tiao. Aside from the cliché of her being a time traveler, she was also captured and used to replace someone else.

Moreover, if Li Tiao remembered correctly, her identity was very likely that of the famous Princess Li from the novel.

Although she had many children, she did not give birth to the eldest son of the Fourth Prince.

Thinking of this, Li Tiao felt even more determined to run away.

Otherwise, given her status, she had three sons and one daughter, but in the end, only one son survived, and that son was eventually adopted by the Eighth Prince!

Li Tiao never wanted to experience such a horrific ordeal.

Therefore, running became even more imperative.

After taking off her hair, the maid Chunxi went to find clothes for Li Tiao so that she could change out of the wedding dress she was wearing.

However, Li Tiao rejected all the clothes she chose because she didn't want to tell Chunxi that she wanted to run away quietly, so she asked her to find some more inconspicuous clothes.

Just as Li Tiao was about to subtly hint at Chunxi's arrival, her dowry maid called from outside the door, "Master."

When Granny Liu came in, she saw the brightly colored clothes Chunxi was holding and said, "Quickly change into something plain."

These words were exactly what Li Tiao wanted to hear, but she was also puzzled. Chunxi asked the question on Li Tiao's behalf: "What's wrong?"

"One of the Emperor's princesses has passed away."

Upon hearing what Granny Liu said, Chunxi quickly found a plain dress, as there were many rules and regulations for weddings and funerals at this time.

However, Li Tiao, who had been somewhat dejected just moments before, suddenly became very enthusiastic. "Granny Liu, Chunxi, come here. I have something to tell you."

The two walked up to Li Tiao with a puzzled look in their eyes, and Li Tiao whispered something in their ear.

Upon hearing Li Tiao's words, Chunxi and Granny Liu simultaneously objected and knelt down: "Your Highness, this is unacceptable, absolutely unacceptable... Today is your joyous occasion, what if we make things worse..."

Li Tiao raised her hand to interrupt: "I am the master, you just need to do as I say."

Chunxi and Granny Liu trembled with fear: "Master..."

However, Li Yao had already made up her mind. She gave Liu Mama and Chunxi a cold and stern look, and the two swallowed their words.

Li Yao wanted just the "what if" scenario.

She wanted to spread the word that her birth chart clashed with the imperial palace, hoping that the Emperor and Empress Dowager would know about it.

Because if the rumors that he was incompatible with the Forbidden City and had even caused the death of the emperor's daughter were to spread, the powerful figures in the palace would surely try to expel him from the palace, adhering to the principle of "better to kill the innocent than let the guilty go free."

The reason is that the Fourth Prince hasn't been allocated his own residence yet; he's still living in the Princes' Quarters in the palace.

For the sake of his mere concubine, the Emperor granted the Fourth Prince a separate residence... Li Tiao was a shrewd and clear-headed person; she wouldn't think she had such a shameless act.

It must be said that Liu Mama and Chunxi were quite good at executing tasks.

The next day, Li Tiao noticed that everyone was looking at her with an indescribable feeling. Li Tiao pretended to be confused, but in reality, she was very pleased.

The Fourth Prince is not yet married and has no wife.

Li Tiao was just a concubine, and generally had no chance to see Consort De. She didn't have to face the possible difficulties from her mother-in-law, nor did she have to humbly pay her respects to the Fujin. Li Tiao felt that her life was not bad.

However, the "Yunhui" mentioned by the Fourth Prince... was a hidden worry in Li Tiao's days of self-satisfaction.

Rumors about Li Tiao's birth chart and its incompatibility within the palace intensified.

As Li Tiao thought, the Fourth Prince should have come to find her long ago, but he remained unmoved!

They lived in the same prince's quarters, but apart from their wedding night, Li Tiao never saw the Fourth Prince again.

While he was wondering whether he should tentatively ask the Fourth Prince, he found a note in the room. After seeing what was written on it, Li Tiao hurriedly crumpled the note into pieces, but thinking that it was still a bit unsafe, she prepared to burn it.

But there was no stove in the summer, and in her panic, Li Tiao didn't care about anything else. She stuffed the note into her mouth, chewed it a few times, and swallowed it with difficulty.

The note was given to Li Tiao by someone sent by the Eighth Prince.

This is truly a dire situation!

She, an unfavored concubine, was actually a spy placed by the Eighth Prince next to the Fourth Prince!

Night falls.

Li Tiao, feeling out of favor and fearing being killed by the Eighth Prince, changed into eunuch's clothes and sneakily went to see him.

As Li Tiao was walking, she heard someone call her name. Startled, she knelt down reverently against the wall.

Then he was forcibly conscripted and carried a woman back to the prince's residence!

Moreover, the person was given to the Fourth Prince!

Li Yao, who was already walking on thin ice, carried the person into the house and saw the Fourth Prince. Her legs started to wobble, and she tripped over her own foot, dropping the person she was carrying. Li Yao herself also lost her balance and fell straight down!

It immediately lay down on the only master in the room!

Moreover, he pushed his standing master down and made him fall on top of him!

When their eyes met and she saw the emotions hidden in the Fourth Prince's dark pupils, Li Tiao felt as if her skull had been shattered, and she wished she were dead.
