Li Tiao is a coward with courage. She seems tough and ready to give up, but she lost her toughness after the Fourth Prince's attitude changed.
"Master, I was wrong."
When the Fourth Prince heard Li Tiao admit her mistake, he was slightly taken aback, then casually asked, "What did you do wrong?"
"This servant was wrong to wander around aimlessly with the waist token."
Li Tiao knew she was downplaying the issue, but even if it was an unspoken understanding that she wanted to leave the palace, she couldn't admit it directly; Li Tiao was aware of that.
Oh!
As expected, this drew a cold laugh from the Fourth Prince.
However, the Fourth Prince did not expose Li Tiao. He stared at Li Tiao for a long time and said, "After all this trouble you've caused, it's almost dawn. Let's get settled soon."
She was supposed to be sleeping, but the Fourth Prince headed towards the bedroom. Li Tiao was terrified and quickly caught up with him, saying, "Your Highness, it's getting late. You should get ready for bed. You have court tomorrow."
"Yes, Your Highness needs to settle in." The Fourth Prince continued walking inside as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Since this man was pretending to be confused when he knew the truth, Li Tiao had no choice but to ask directly, "Sir, are you going to stay here with me?"
"Otherwise what? Or can't I stay here with you?"
Of course she could, but Li Tiao didn't want to. However, given her status, it wouldn't be appropriate for her to say she didn't want the Fourth Prince to stay there; that would be too ungrateful.
"Replying to Your Excellency, I have made such a grave mistake today that I deserve a severe punishment. If Your Excellency were to stay with me, that would be a great favor to me. If others were to find out..."
"You're the only one serving me now, who am I afraid of finding out?"
Li Tiao died, and I almost forgot about this.
Seeing the Fourth Prince begin to undress himself, Li Tiao felt a chill run down her spine.
It's not that Li Tiao is being pretentious. She's a modern person, and after arriving here, the person in front of her is still her legal husband. It's only natural that something might happen between them.
However, for some reason, the rumor that the Fourth Prince was "impotent" had really gotten to Li Tiao, and she couldn't help but think of those ruthless and vicious people in suspense films.
Seeing that she couldn't avoid it any longer, Li Tiao thought that if she couldn't avoid it, she could at least stall for time. Anyway, there wasn't much time left before the morning court session, and it would be best if she could stall until the Fourth Prince's morning court session.
So Li Tiao quickly took off the long robe that men wore.
"My lord, this is something I made especially for you. Try it on and see if it fits. It's just that my skills aren't very good, the stitches aren't perfect, but gifts are all about the thought behind them. It's a small gift but a big sentiment."
The Fourth Prince knew that Li Tiao was doing it on purpose. He had no shortage of clothes, and if someone else had given him these clothes, he probably wouldn't have even glanced at them.
But now he was persuaded by Li Tiao and couldn't help but raise his arm to let Li Tiao help him put on the clothes.
The clothes were obviously ill-fitting, but that was exactly what Li Tiao wanted, so she could stall for time.
"The sleeves are a bit short, and the fabric is a bit too tight..."
However, the Fourth Prince interrupted Li Tiao, who was muttering to herself.
"Tomorrow I'll have someone send you one of my usual clothes. You can just copy it. No need for all that trouble."
Just as Li Tiao was about to retort, a hairpin appeared in front of her.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be the one that had been accidentally dropped by the Fourth Prince earlier.
Li Tiao reached out to take her hairpin, but the Fourth Prince dodged her touch.
"Sir...you..."
The Fourth Prince's gaze was deep, his pupils reflecting Li Tiao's surprise, but in his mind he was imagining the words Li Tiao spoke when the hairpin traced across his palm.
"You said that someone who doesn't laugh during three grabs is a good person, right?"
Now that she realized that the Fourth Prince had been faking his drunkenness, Li Tiao thought it was a bit childish, but she didn't know what she couldn't admit, so she nodded and said, "This servant was just talking nonsense."
"Is the fact that I didn't laugh at the time a good person?"
What a villain! But Li Tiao couldn't say that. Contrary to her own feelings, Li Tiao smiled and said, "Of course you are a good person."
"Since I am a good person, what are you afraid of?" As the Fourth Prince said this, he gently scratched Li Tiao's palm a few times with the hairpin.
Li Tiao instinctively tried to pull her hand away, but the Fourth Prince held it tightly.
"Remember this feeling."
Li Tiao didn't understand what this gentleman meant. She was ticklish, and she couldn't help but laugh, her voice as bright as a nightingale's.
The Fourth Prince's lips unconsciously curved upwards, but when he remembered that Li Tiao was the Eighth Prince's spy, his lips instantly tightened into a thin line.
Li Tiao, who was laughing so hard she could hardly breathe, looked up and saw the Fourth Prince with a blank expression. His eyes seemed to be bottomless abysses, yet they were so enticing that people wanted to jump in.
Li Tiao shuddered, her smile gradually freezing. She gathered her thoughts, withdrew her hands, put them behind her back, and looked helplessly at the Fourth Prince.
The Fourth Prince narrowed his eyes and walked towards the bedside first.
Li Tiao tensed up again: "Master..."
Her voice, almost unconsciously coquettish, was uttered by the Fourth Prince, who feigned coldness: "You tried to leave the palace without permission, and I haven't punished you yet. I just said I would teach you a lesson."
Li Tiao looked pitifully at the Fourth Prince.
The Fourth Prince threw the hairpin at Li Tiao, but Li Tiao was too nervous to catch it, and the hairpin fell to the ground with a thud.
"You're always thinking about running away, but I can't cut off your legs..."
Upon hearing this, Li Tiao suddenly looked up at the Fourth Prince and asked, "Does he have to be so cruel?"
"Since I can't cut off your legs, I'll teach you a lesson by having you scratch the soles of your feet with this hairpin until I tell you to stop."
What?!
Li Tiao's eyes widened even more, staring at the Fourth Prince as if he were an alien. The Fourth Prince, who was usually so serious that he never smiled, was actually...
