Chapter 58 Feigning Madness

"Your Highness, you..." The imperial physician was extremely uneasy and at a loss because of Li Tiao's actions. He was afraid that he would be frozen to death by the Fourth Prince's gaze.

But Li Tiao was terrified.

"Who are you all? Where are Chunxi and Granny Liu?"

"Li Tiao, this is the palace, you can't pretend to be crazy here..." Consort De was also surprised by Li Tiao's actions, but she also felt that Li Tiao was exaggerating a bit.

“You are…” Li Tiao pretended not to understand Consort De’s words at all.

"you……"

The Fourth Prince stepped forward, blocking Li Tiao and Consort De's view, and asked the imperial physician, "What's wrong with this condition? Is there any medicine that can cure it?"

"In response to Fourth Prince, if the head is bumped, it is possible to forget something. This is recorded in medical texts, but whether there is a cure depends on the specific circumstances. This humble servant is of limited knowledge..."

The Fourth Prince waved his hand irritably at the imperial physician: "Never mind."

Every time Li Tiao made trouble for him, the imperial physician felt as if the little medical skills he had learned before were just for show. Now, he was being disliked by the Fourth Prince, so he quickly left after applying the ointment to the wound on the back of his neck.

"Li Tiao, that's enough! I didn't touch your head!"

Li Tiao looked at Consort De blankly, seemingly not quite understanding what Consort De meant, but she reached up to her head and took the hairpin off.

Seeing Li Tiao's bewildered behavior, the palace maid next to her instinctively wanted to exclaim, but quickly covered her mouth.

This is what it means to speak volumes without words. The Fourth Prince understood the gist of it without even asking.

He looked at Consort De and said, "Mother, you should go back first. I won't see you off."

"Fourth son, a son should abandon his own mother..."

"Mother, can you pray that today's events haven't reached Father's ears?" The Fourth Prince remained calm: "Mother, you've been in the palace for quite some time now, you should know that those imperial physicians are afraid of taking responsibility, so they usually report to Father when they encounter situations like this."

The once fierce Consort De immediately calmed down after hearing the Fourth Prince's words. She took a deep breath, glared fiercely at Li Tiao and the Fourth Prince, and left with the large entourage that had accompanied her.

After Consort De left, Su Peisheng, being quite perceptive, also went out, and the door slammed shut behind him.

Li Tiao tried her best to make her eyes look innocent and naive: "You are... I heard that lady call you the Fourth Prince... You are the Fourth Prince..."

The Fourth Prince stared at Li Tiao expressionlessly without saying a word, scrutinizing whether Li Tiao's demeanor was feigned or genuine.

Even though Li Tiao usually couldn't tell what the Fourth Prince was thinking, she now knew what his silence meant.

She tried her best not to look at the Fourth Prince.

However, the Fourth Prince's gaze put a lot of pressure on Li Tiao. His aura was too strong, and Li Tiao felt uneasy under his gaze. When she looked up, her eyes met the Fourth Prince's.

Before the Fourth Prince could ask anything, Li Tiao herself started to lose her composure: "Your Highness, actually..."

"It was my oversight. You were quite quick-witted this time."

Caught off guard, Li Tiao's words caught in her throat. She had expected the Fourth Prince to launch into a tirade of sarcasm, but to her surprise, it sounded more like an apology and praise.

"Actually, it's nothing. It's normal for Her Majesty to make things difficult for me in the palace if she doesn't like me. I can handle the minor issues, but it's getting old... So I was thinking if there was a way to resolve this once and for all... But I really didn't want Her Majesty to lose face in front of the Emperor. I don't think the Imperial Physician would tell the Emperor about something so trivial..."

"I don't know if Mother will ever stop bothering you again."

"So that means I have to keep pretending?" Li Tiao asked.

The Fourth Prince narrowed his eyes: "It must be tiring to keep pretending to be crazy and ignorant all this time, right?"

Has she suddenly become so considerate? In the past, Li Tiao would probably have felt uneasy.

But now, perhaps because the Fourth Prince hadn't been sarcastic towards her earlier, Li Tiao was a little smug and spoke somewhat carelessly: "I am a little tired, but I'm thinking that maybe if I keep pretending, my important matter will be accomplished, so..."

"Something big? What's so big about it?"

Li Tiao quickly shut her mouth tightly.

She wanted to slap herself a few times; how could she have been so careless!

She had clearly gone through all her thoughts while she was lying in front of the dressing mirror, and she planned to play dumb and take advantage of the moment when everyone's guard was down to escape.

No matter how the Fourth Prince probed, he wouldn't let go, no matter how hard he tried.

How could they just drop everything in less than three sentences?!

"Heh, what big thing could this servant possibly have... This servant just feels... just feels..." Li Tiao racked her brains, and suddenly a brilliant idea struck her: "Aren't we about to move to the mansion outside with Master? This servant was thinking of trying her best not to let anyone see through her during this time before we move out."

Otherwise, if people find out that I am not really in any serious trouble, then Consort De will lose all face and will definitely hate me even more.

So, in order to avoid any further complications, I thought it best to do it this way for now.

"Yeah?"

"Of course!"

The Fourth Prince looked at Li Tiao with a half-smile: "Chunxi is gone, and it's inconvenient for you not to have someone to serve you, so I've found you another person to serve you."

Before Li Tiao could ask anything, the Fourth Prince called out loudly, "Come in."

Soon, a girl who looked to be about the same age as Chunxi entered gracefully and bowed to the Fourth Prince and Li Tiao, saying, "This servant, Hongye, greets Your Highness and Princess Li."

"Get up," the Fourth Prince said calmly. "From today onwards, you will serve Consort Li. I have already given you all the instructions I needed to give you."

Given what just happened, if your mother ever causes trouble for Princess Li again, you'd better be discerning.

"This servant understands."

After giving his instructions, the Fourth Prince looked at Li Tiao, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back.

Li Tiao suddenly became very perceptive: "Master, I will definitely not give myself away."

Somewhat helpless, he wanted to say something, but in the end, the Fourth Prince said nothing and left directly.

Taking a deep breath, Li Tiao thought about how she wondered if she could try her luck in the entertainment industry once she returned, since her acting skills would definitely surpass many others.

But... going back... is a long and arduous journey, and I will search high and low for it!

"Hongye, right? Which palace did you serve in before?" Li Tiao thought that since she would be her maid in the future, she should at least ask some basic questions.

This red leaf must be a palace maid, not a maid that the Fourth Prince found outside.

"Replying to Your Majesty, this servant used to serve Consort De."

Li Tiao was drinking water when she heard Hongye's words and couldn't help but spit it out.
