Chapter 11 Aunt Zhao is Poisoned

Warm home.

Chen Siyuan was rushed back and cared for like a porcelain doll, with the scolding of Old Madam Chen heard from the side from time to time.

"How did you take care of the young lady? How could this have happened?"

Chunlan and Chunping lowered their heads.

"I've only been gone a few days, and such a big thing has happened. Are you all mute?"

Butler Cheng bowed his head in response.

"Speak, are they all mute?"

The more Madam Chen spoke, the angrier she became, her voice growing louder with each word.

Chen Siyuan lay on the bed, looking at her grandmother. The more she looked, the cuter she became, and she couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"You're still laughing?" Old Madam Chen scolded Chen Siyuan.

Chen Siyuan was no longer afraid. Her grandmother looked fierce, but she was actually very kind. Many people are two-faced, but her grandmother was different; she carried a knife in her mouth.

“Grandmother, I think you should drink some water and continue scolding them,” Chen Siyuan said, patting the spot next to her. “Sit down and talk, it won’t be too tiring that way.”

Lin's mother looked at the young lady who was different from before, and her eyes reddened.

After something like that happened, it's normal for people to change.

Thinking of the young lady's reputation, she couldn't help but worry.

Having already passed the imperial examination, she should be getting married by now. This incident will ultimately damage the young lady's reputation.

"Lin Ma, help Grandma sit down." Chen Siyuan then looked at Chunlan, "Chunlan, Chunping, hurry up and pour Grandma some tea, and prepare some pastries."

Soon, all the food and drinks were brought up, and Chunlan, Chunping, and Lin Ma all left.

Chen Siyuan knelt on the ground and confessed to her grandmother.

At first, Madam Chen didn't believe it, but seeing how sincere her granddaughter was, she decided to believe her this once.

Perhaps only when one is utterly disappointed in their granddaughter will they be willing to believe it.

Later, the grandfather and grandson ate countless pastries and drank countless cups of tea, talking until midnight.

When the old lady left, she was clearly very excited.

Despite her curiosity, Lin Ma, who had served by Chen's side for many years, couldn't get a single word out of Madam Chen.

Lin's mother was even more curious: what exactly did the young lady say that made Old Madam Chen so happy?

Chunlan and Chunping were also very curious, but unfortunately, Chen Siyuan kept her mouth shut and refused to say a word.

No matter how great one's curiosity is, some people cannot be satisfied and can only suppress it.

Aunt Zhao waited until midnight, expecting to hear some noise, but to her surprise, there was no sound at all.

Aunt Zhao endured one night, but couldn't wait any longer.

She didn't understand why, despite all the years Aunt Zhao had been in the household and how much she tried to please the old lady, she never seemed to like her. Even Chen Siyuan had always been pampered and spoiled. Why did the old lady have such a strong opinion about her?

After much thought, the key to the problem lies with Chen Luyang.

Chen Luyang is the eldest son of the Chen family. With Chen Luyang around, what chance does his own son have?

Even knowing this is a possibility, she will not compromise.

Chen Zhaokun, who was originally scheduled to return in three days, has not returned yet, and there has been no sign of him at all.

As the days went by, Aunt Zhao's heart could no longer find peace.

I originally thought that with so many account books in such a large family like the Chen family, and with Old Madam Chen being old and lacking the energy, even if Chen Siyuan had changed, wouldn't all those account books be in disarray in her hands?

When she heard that everything was being managed smoothly by Chen Siyuan, she couldn't remain calm.

She had managed the accounts and knew how much silver went in and out of the Chen family every day. Without this power, how would she live in the future, and how would she plan a good future for her son and daughter?

The son is about to take the imperial examination, and the daughter is about to get married. Are they to be like her, burdened with the status of being born out of wedlock for the rest of their lives, with no hope for the future?

After much consideration, Aunt Zhao decided to take the initiative to find the old lady.

Unfortunately, she is currently under house arrest, and although she sent her maid to deliver messages, no news has come back.

She wanted to rush to the old lady herself, but then she thought that since she was under house arrest, leaving suddenly might give the old lady something to use against her. She could send Chen Xin instead. Chen Xin was very capable outside, but he was afraid in front of the old lady. Therefore, she could only send a message to her son Chen Fan, who was studying away from home, to come back.

All of this takes time, and just then, she heard that the old lady had been invited over by the Tao family, and she could no longer sit still.

Since the incident, apart from Chen Siyuan saying those outrageous things at the beginning, there has been no further news from the Tao family. Upon hearing this news, she could no longer sit still.

Taking advantage of the old lady's absence, Aunt Zhao had no more scruples and started making a huge scene in her own courtyard.

After dinner, Chen Siyuan was looking at the account book.

Originally, she was just managing the Chen family's accounts, but unexpectedly, her elder brother started to manage all the money she had given him, sending all sorts of accounts to her.

Knowing what her elder brother was thinking, Chen Siyuan didn't want to disappoint him again, so she took it to look at it.

It has to be said that my elder brother has had a tough time these past few years, and it is precisely because of this hardship that he has developed a certain shrewdness and skill in business.

Xia Zhu, the maidservant beside Aunt Zhao, rushed in, knelt on the ground, and said a lot.

She didn't want to pay attention, thinking that her grandmother had just left and someone was already making a scene.

After a few quiet days, they probably can't sit still anymore.

I got up, just to stretch my body and go see what the commotion was about.

I had just arrived at Chunfeng Xiaozhu when I heard a lot of noise inside.

This time was much more interesting than the last.

Chen Siyuan walked in with a slightly wicked smile.

Aunt Zhao had already seized the opportunity, and the moment Chen Siyuan stepped into the door, she knelt down in front of her with a thud.

"Young Miss, Young Miss, please go find a doctor quickly and help me detoxify." Aunt Zhao cried and knelt at Chen Siyuan's feet.

Chen Siyuan glanced down at Aunt Zhao's disheveled appearance and immediately found it amusing.

If Chen Zhaokun saw this scene, I wonder if he would still have the heart to sleep with this woman.

"Chen Siyuan, you bitch, how dare you plot against my mother! I'll tear you apart!" Chen Xin rushed over after receiving the news.

At this moment, Chen Xin abandoned her usual innocent and pure image and pounced on her like a tiger.

With just a glance from Chen Siyuan, Chen Xin's actions were stopped by Chunlan, and Aunt Zhao, who was kneeling on the ground, was also dragged aside by Chunping's strong force.

Chen Siyuan knew they were putting on an act when she arrived, but now it seems their acting skills are far inferior to those of the wealthy ladies in Beijing.

Those wealthy ladies in the capital, they set traps so that no one would find out, and they always found many scapegoats. Even if the plan failed in the end, they could still remain outside the scope of the incident.

"Aunt Zhao, have you been poisoned?" Chen Siyuan entered the room and sat down in a chair, looking at the two disheveled women on the ground.
