Chapter 41 Not a child of the Chen family

"Madam Liu only trusts you." Tao Yifan felt that being a man had too many inconveniences, and he did this to avoid suspicion.

"But I don't want to."

Tao Yifan stared at Chen Siyuan for a few moments, then gestured for Ren Lu to leave. He looked directly at Chen Siyuan and said, "You are not a child of the Chen family."

boom--

Chen Siyuan's head was about to explode.

Looking at Tao Yifan in front of him, he wondered what this person knew and why he suddenly said such a thing.

I had a bad feeling about it, and subconsciously told myself to leave, to leave as soon as possible.

“If you want to know about your background, you can go to the capital and find out for yourself,” Tao Yifan said again.

"What...what do you mean?" She knew in her past life that she wasn't a child of the Chen family, but her maternal grandfather and elder brother still sacrificed their lives to help her.

Hearing this now, I believe no one would be indifferent.

"The nanmu box you redeemed from the pawnshop contains a secret about your identity."

Chen Siyuan's face turned pale.

"You can go to the capital yourself to find out the truth."

"What do you mean?" This time, Chen Siyuan finally understood.

Now that things have come to this point, it would be too irrational to pretend to be confused any longer.

"You should know that the Tao family still holds considerable influence in the capital. Many people are willing to offer their daughters in order to win over the Tao family."

"You mean you want us to cooperate?" Chen Siyuan reacted quickly; their engagement seemed to give this person an excellent excuse.

Tao Yifan stared at Chen Siyuan without saying anything.

The two looked at each other, neither willing to speak again, until Li Ma's voice came from outside, and both of them trembled.

Unexpectedly, Li Ma, who was waiting anxiously, came directly to the carriage, lifted the curtain, and saw Tao Yifan sitting in the carriage. She quickly bowed and said, "This servant greets Young Master Tao."

Tao Yifan glanced at Li Ma, "Madam, is she alright?"

“The doctor has already examined her, and I’m afraid…” Li Ma said, her eyes reddening.

Chen Siyuan stared at Li Ma, and she had to admit that she didn't understand what was going on with Madam Liu, but Li Ma was the prime suspect.

"What's wrong, Madam?" Chen Siyuan looked very shocked, even covering her mouth in surprise as she spoke.

"Miss Chen, you should go and see for yourself!" said Li Ma, taking a step back.

Chen Siyuan immediately jumped off the carriage, looking very anxious.

I jogged all the way into the Tao family's house.

Tao Yifan got off the carriage and watched the two figures hurriedly leave.

Thinking of the innocent little fish who died without cause, he knew it was because of the handkerchief. He had already started investigating Li Ma, hoping it wasn't what he thought.

He had nothing more to say about Chen Siyuan except to sigh.

One moment she was defiant to the death, the next she's running away in fear. Just how much does she dislike herself to deliberately act so pathetic?

He shook his head and sighed.

I've always felt that the women in the capital are all wicked, but now it seems there are equally skilled ones in the south as well.

If this woman were around, perhaps the Tao family would have far fewer problems.

With that in mind, I went straight to my grandfather's yard.

He was going to the capital soon and hoped to get the wedding arranged as soon as possible.

I believe that with Grandpa's help, things will surely succeed.

This way.

Chen Siyuan, familiar with the place, arrived at the small courtyard she had visited the day before.

I saw a child crying his eyes out.

In her past life, she had been married for many years but had no children of her own. Seeing the child crying so sadly, she quickly came to the child's side and said, "Don't cry, your mother is just tired and wants to rest for a while."

"Is...is it true?" the child asked, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Of course it's true. Mother was playing around yesterday and didn't wear enough clothes, so she caught a cold. She just needed to eat two bowls of bitter herbal medicine and she'll be fine."

The child looked at Madam Liu, "Mother, is it true?"

Mrs. Liu was really struggling to take care of the child, but when she saw Chen Siyuan arrive and coax her calmed down with just a few words, she breathed a sigh of relief.

However, she felt that her body was probably not up to the task.

Looking at the woman in front of her, she thought that perhaps entrusting her child to this woman could save her son's life.

Thinking of this, Madam Liu began to wipe away her tears.

She was unwell yesterday, and her condition is worse today.

The killer hasn't been found yet, and she's worried. She's not afraid of dying herself, but what if the killer targets her son?

“Look, Mother is not obedient at all. She even cried after only taking two doses of medicine.” Chen Siyuan shook her head as she spoke.

The child immediately looked at Madam Liu, "Mother, is it true?"

Mrs. Liu forced a smile and gave the child a look, saying, "The medicine is too bitter."

"My mother always said that good medicine tastes bitter."

"This... alright." Madam Liu seemed a little hesitant, but eventually agreed. To get her son out of the way, she spoke again, "Then Zhen'er, would you like to brew the medicine for your mother?"

"I...I don't know." The child lowered his head in shame.

"Li Ma, you go."

"Yes." Li Ma led the young master away, and looked back at him as she reached the door.

Upon seeing Madam Liu, Chen Siyuan said, "Madam, I'm afraid your health is... failing." As she spoke, Chen Siyuan boldly covered Madam Liu's mouth to prevent her from speaking.

Madam Liu has come this far; she sees things clearly.

They tacitly condoned the rude behavior of some people.

Once she was sure someone had gone far away, Chen Siyuan let go.

He quickly explained, "Madam, I was rude just now."
