Chapter 50 The Illegitimate Child Raised Outside the Family

Chen Siyuan stared at Chen Xin, "Don't you know what you've done?" Her eyes were like frost as she coldly looked at Chen Xin, who had come to cause trouble at this crucial moment.

If things go wrong at this point, her whole family could be beheaded. She deliberately brought so many people with her; did she think she wasn't dying a quick death?

If it were just Chen Xin, she might not have gone too far out of consideration for the years they had lived under the same roof. But what is this?

"Father?" Chen Xin was even more aggrieved, looking at Chen Zhaokun through tears. "Father, I know my sister is upset. As her younger sister, I shouldn't have hit her back, but it really hurt too much. I couldn't hold back..."

"Get out!" Chen Zhaokun said coldly to Chen Xin.

Chen Xin initially thought these words were directed at Chen Siyuan. When she looked up, her previously smug gaze froze when she saw her father's eyes looking at her.

Is this how my father treats me?

Chen Xin's expression changed drastically.

“It’s not easy for Siyuan to manage the whole family. You’re not only not helping, but you’re also making things worse.” Chen Zhaokun became angrier as he spoke, raising his voice several decibels.

Chen Xin felt a pang of panic. Did she really mean nothing without her mother?

After finally seeing her father return, things turned out like this, as if all the hope in her heart had been ruthlessly shattered.

Chen Xin, belatedly realizing that she had been abandoned by everyone, all because of Chen Siyuan, decided to go all out this time.

"Father, don't you want to know why your daughter did this?"

Chen Siyuan glanced at him, still stubbornly refusing to admit it. However, upon seeing her father, she suddenly felt that she no longer had any expectations and did not perceive it as a form of harm.

I had no relationship with my father to begin with, so it was only right that he treated me however he wanted.

When you're in a different mood, your perspective on things changes too.

She seems to be able to sense a different kind of attention from her father now.

"Father, my sister is keeping a child outside the marriage."

Chen Siyuan narrowed her eyes immediately; she was there for Zhen'er.

This isn't good. Thinking of the promise she made to her child, she seemed startled by these words and quickly coughed twice.

"Nonsense!" Chen Zhaokun roared again.

I always thought this daughter was intelligent, so why did she suddenly change?

"Sister—" the child ran out.

Chen Siyuan looked at the child, her eyes changing, filled with tenderness. When the child came closer, she reached out and pinched his little cheek. "Chen Yuzhen, why did you come out?"

"Chen Yuzhen?" Upon hearing this, Chen Xin seemed to see a glimmer of hope. "Father, this is the child my sister is raising outside." He almost blurted out that this was the illegitimate child that Chen Siyuan was raising outside.

"Cheng Feng——"

Butler Cheng immediately rushed in from outside, looked at Chen Zhaokun, and bowed slightly, "Master—"

"Drag her away."

Chen Xin thought they were dragging Chen Siyuan away, but when she saw that the housekeeper was dragging her away, she screamed, but it didn't change anything.

Soon, the person was dragged away from the warm house.

Outside, sounds like pigs being slaughtered could still be heard.

Chen Zhaokun looked carefully at his daughter.

In the letter, the old lady already said that the child already knew.

Chen Siyuan had a lot to say to her father, and today was the perfect opportunity, so she asked Chunlan and Chunping to leave with the children.

When she came back into the house, she knelt down directly in front of Chen Zhaokun.

"What are you doing?" Chen Zhaokun said, trying to help his daughter up, but she dodged him.

Chen Siyuan bounced around and looked at the three heads. When she looked up again, her forehead was red and swollen. "Father, I was ignorant in the past and made you sad."

"You silly child."

"Father, I heard that I am not your child." Something that never happened in her previous life was now being said directly by Chen Siyuan.

It was then that she realized this matter wasn't so difficult to bring up, and once she did, she felt much more relaxed.

"Um."

"Grandmother said that you know many things that I don't know. Can Father tell me?"

"Yuan'er, knowing some things isn't necessarily a good thing." Chen Zhaokun was willing to have an extra daughter, even if they weren't related, for the rest of his life.

He didn't want to talk about many of his long-forgotten memories, partly out of personal selfishness.

“I feel the same way. My father and grandmother made me feel like I had everything, but I heard that my biological mother may have gone through some things. I’m afraid it will implicate the Chen family, my grandmother, my father, my older brother…” Chen Siyuan said, her eyes reddening.

She wanted to stay in the present. If the person who harmed her mother back then knew she was still alive and in danger, it would be a misfortune for the Chen family as well. She hoped to eliminate the person before they could take matters into their own hands.

She had no feelings for her biological mother. This family had been very good to her, and she would rather die than let her own actions disrupt the peace of this family.

Chen Zhaokun sighed, "Have you made up your mind?"

"yes."

Do you know what your decision means?

Chen Siyuan nodded with difficulty.

She had lived in the capital city in her previous life and had enough of those people. She knew how treacherous people could be, and she wanted to experience it again.

Even if she were ultimately led to the guillotine, she would accept it willingly.

In their past lives, they risked their lives to protect her; this time, it's her turn to risk everything to protect her family.

She hoped they would live well and could plan for a better future.

Now that I know who the new emperor is, who the empress is, and who the crown prince is, why not give it my all?

Now that she's already caught in the middle of it all, why doesn't she give it a shot?

To outsiders, they all seem to have been forced into this situation, so why not make the most of it?

This is also something I thought of when Chen Xin came to cause trouble earlier.

If Chen Xin could find his backer in Beijing, why shouldn't I find an even bigger one?

She had thought about this issue before, but now she has changed her mind slightly.

My relationship with Tao Yifan is purely cooperative. If this kind of cooperation can really bring me benefits, why not take it?

In marriage, as long as there is no hope, there will be no harm. Cooperation is cooperation; there's no need to overthink it.

Besides, Tao Yifan doesn't seem to care about matters between men and women, otherwise he wouldn't have been single in his previous life. I'm just a shield, and he's attracted to my impressive style. Isn't that perfect?

She didn't tell her father about these thoughts, nor did she intend to tell her grandmother.

"Oh well."

"Thank you, Father."

"You may not know that it's just as quiet outside as it is at home."

Chen Siyuan was grateful for her father's reminder, and she nodded with a smile, "Yes." How could she easily forget what she had experienced in her past life?

Chen Zhaokun nodded, "Being away from home is different from being at home. Just let me know if you need anything."

“Father—” Chen Siyuan cried with emotion.
