Chen Siyuan was awakened by the sound of soft sobbing beside her ear.
She slowly opened her eyes, and what came into view were Chunlan's red, tear-stained eyes.
"Chunlan," Chen Siyuan hurriedly tried to sit up.
"Young Miss, please lie down and don't move." Chunlan quickly helped the young lady up, and when she saw that she was unwilling to lie down, she quickly put a pillow behind her back.
Chunping came in from outside carrying a bowl of medicine. When she saw that the young lady had woken up, she immediately came to her side excitedly, "Young lady, you're finally awake?"
"What's wrong with me..." Chen Siyuan wanted to explain what was wrong with her, but then she suddenly remembered what had happened to her and immediately felt something was amiss.
She quickly turned around, but was pulled back from the bed by the anxious Chunlan and Chunping.
She was clearly injured, so why did her body seem fine except for being weak?
Looking at the two maids in front of him, they seemed to know something, but they were unwilling to say it.
"What on earth is going on?" She clearly felt the whip of Dai Gou falling on her body, and she remembered that she seemed to be about to die.
It's impossible for my body to recover so quickly on its own.
A possibility came to mind, but she quickly dismissed it.
"Young Miss, why don't you drink your medicine first?" Chunping came over with the bowl of medicine.
Chen Siyuan glanced at the medicine in front of her, took it, but showed no intention of drinking it.
She also remembered that her father appeared and saved her when she was unconscious.
What happened next?
What exactly happened to the injuries on my body?
Some things are better left unsaid; once you know them, there must be a conclusion.
"Tell me about it," Chen Siyuan said quietly, waiting.
After a long while, Chunlan spoke, "This servant failed to protect you properly, causing Miss to be in danger. It was Master who saved Miss."
Chen Siyuan placed the medicine bowl aside, stretched out her right hand, and then her left hand, wanting them to see that if it weren't for the pills Chunlan gave her yesterday, both of her hands might have been equally badly injured.
However, when she stretched out her two hands and saw that they were both intact, she couldn't remain calm.
I stared at my hands, which were completely unmarked.
Later, she suddenly stood up, ignoring the two maids' attempts to stop her, and took off her undergarment. When she saw her intact back in the mirror, she couldn't remain calm.
Upon seeing this, Chunlan and Chunping quickly helped the young lady get dressed.
Chen Siyuan remained passive throughout, staring fixedly at what was in front of her.
The two maids knew that the matter could no longer be kept secret, and thinking of Wang Li's current state, they felt a surge of gratitude.
They failed to protect the young lady, which resulted in Wang Li's injury.
Thinking of the corpses scattered all over the Tao family's old house, they felt that no matter how many people died, it could not erase the fact that the young lady was injured.
"What...what exactly happened?" Chen Siyuan finally found her voice after a long while.
She was clearly injured, but suddenly she recovered without leaving a trace. How could she accept that?
Chunlan and Chunping did not explain, but simply said, "Miss, after you finish your medicine, I will take you somewhere."
Chen Siyuan was puzzled. What exactly were they doing? Why couldn't they just tell her directly?
Feeling something was off, she obediently took the medicine.
The two maids kept their word; after I drank the medicine, they really did take me to find the truth.
Chen Siyuan clearly felt that apart from feeling a little weak, there was nothing wrong with her.
That's precisely why Chen Siyuan found it even stranger.
With these thoughts in mind, she followed the two maids to the servants' room, opened the door, and saw Wang Li lying on the simple bed.
Wang Li seemed to be asleep, but was awakened by the sound of the door opening.
The moment Chen Siyuan opened her eyes, she clearly saw the green light flash in Wang Li's eyes.
Green light?
This is not the perspective a human being should have.
What exactly happened?
He stood at the doorway and looked at Wang Li.
“Young Miss—” Wang Li tried to get up, but Chen Siyuan, who had just realized what was happening, calmed him down. “You’re weak, so rest well. There’s no need for so much formality.”
Wang Li was obedient and quietly lay back down on the bed.
Two maids stood at the door, showing no intention of coming in.
Chen Siyuan glanced at the three strange people and slowly walked in.
He approached the bedside, looked at Wang Li, and asked softly, "How did you get injured?"
Wang Li looked at the two maids standing at the door. They both lowered their heads. He knew that some things could not be kept secret forever.
He was lucky to get away with it last time, but this time, he knew he would be exposed when he did it. Seeing that young lady, he had no choice but to do it.
"Young Miss, actually I am..."
"You two get out," Chen Siyuan said.
Chunlan and Chunping glanced at Wang Li inside and quickly came into the courtyard.
Chen Siyuan looked at Wang Li, waiting for his explanation.
“Young Miss, this servant is different from others.” Wang Li made a swallowing motion, taking the initiative to explain his difference. He was somewhat afraid and found it difficult to speak.
I still feel a bit scared. What kind of danger would it bring me if I told anyone about this?
Chen Siyuan didn't speak, but waited quietly.
She saw a hint of struggle in Wang Li's expression.
Regardless of what actually happened, it was indeed this person who saved him.
As time passed, Chen Siyuan felt that she might have been too heartless; how could she treat the person who saved her life like that?
"Take good care of yourself. I'll have someone send you some tonics." Chen Siyuan glanced at him, then got up to leave.
